Live Fast Die Yum!

You will see Black Heart Creatives jewellery crop up on quite a few of my blog posts, I absolutely adore their items! When they tweeted a few weeks ago to give people the chance to review something from their new range I was SO excited!

They very kindly sent me this beautiful pink doughnut necklace from their new Live Fast Die Yum collection and I love it. Of course considering you're combining cake and statement jewellery it isn't much of a surprise that I am a fan! They have a few items in the range including a hot dog and a rather funky looking bar of chocolate amazing!

As ever the jewellery is high quality and it is very much a welcomed piece to my collection!

They have kindly given me the chance to give something to you too!! Simply use the code 'Princess25' and you'll get 25% off of any purchase that you make from their site within the next 7 days - YAY!

If you're tempted then let me know what you buy!

Back At Home For Mothers Day

You might have seen that in the last week I have moved back to Lancashire. After 2 years in the busy, Big Smoke it's a massive change. One of the nicest things about being back is being near my family again especially for Mothers Day.

The lovely team at Fashion World sent both my mum and I a dress to wear on Mothers Day and it's such a treat! Being able to let my mum pick out a dress of her choice and give her an excuse to get all dressed up was lovely. She choose this Short Beaded Dress and I think she looks bloody lovely.

I asked mum what she thought of the dress and she loves it. She really loved the material and fit of the dress, it;s comfortable with a bit of glitz and you can't go far wrong with that! The length of the dress is perfect for her too - she really is over the moon with it! It's currently on the site, up to a size 32 for just £60.00!

When it came to choosing my dress I thought I would go for something a little different. Maxi dresses are certainly something that my wardrobe is lacking so I went for this Floral Maxi Dress by Jeffrey & Paula.

I am a shortie but the length is great on me, especially when I belt it up as I so often do with my dresses! It's on the site up to a size 32 (I always find Jeffrey & Paula dresses to be a generous fit so you can easily size down) and is only £55.00!

What are your plans for this Mothers Day?

My Hair Raising Last Night Out in London!

Ok, so it wasn't very hair raising at all, but I wanted to put up a post about my last night out in London. As this includes a review of my fabulous new hair piece by Campbell Wigs I decided to incorporate it into Hannah's Charity Blog Challenge, which you can read more about at the end. Please be sure to check out Hannah's page and of course the blog posts by the other lovely ladies taking part.

So anyway - onto the hair!

A few weeks ago I was approached by the lovely Lorna about making a hair piece for me. Now, people who know me will tell you I hate being fussy with my hair. If my fringe is too long I cut it off, I can't stand it being tied back....  So, although I was excited about a new challenge I was a little dubious as to how it would turn out. She came to my flat in London to measure my head and get all the things she needed to make me a hair piece, as well as have a bit of a catch up and a gossip!

I didn't know much about Lorna's business side, we usually meet up on a night out over a glass or two of fizz, but I was interested to learn that she has been working in the wig making industry for over 7 years and that she has worked on film, TV and theatre. She makes wigs for all sorts of people, all hair types and has many solutions for hair loss - amazing! You can read more about all of that here!

And then, two weeks later I get a text to say my new hair piece is ready and would I like to go along and have some photos taken wearing it... Now, as you might know I am quite shy (ha!) and so I jumped at the chance. I managed to get it arranged for a Saturday morning so that I could be cheeky and have amazing hair and make up for my leaving do on the Saturday night and what a good plan that turned out to be!

I turned up at Lorna's studio and she immediately set to work with her magic make up brushes... to say I was happy with the make up she did is an understatement I loved it! Then she fitted the hair piece, the bit I was most nervous about. As some one who hates having even a hair clip in my hair I didn't know how much I would like it. In the end I didn't even really realise it was fitted because you just don't feel it at all. It has 4 small clips which clip into my hair but that's it.

I don't know the technicalities of the wig making (ask Lorna, she's a pro) but I do know that it is a real human hair top piece and it gave me hair that I could only have dreamt about before!

I was lucky enough to be gifted the hair piece (thank you Lorna!) but please don't think that this review is swayed by that, because it isn't. I honestly might not have been able to afford a hair piece like this before, but it really has made me think twice... it's SUCH a transformation and
I really can't put into words how much I like it!!

What do you think?

Campbell Wigs are actually offering half price top pieces right through until June so if you want to get on it - now is the time! Just tweet them to set the ball rolling and they'll get back to you. I have to say the whole experience was SO exciting for me and I am so glad that I went along with it!

"I have decided that I want to shave my hair off for charity because honestly, I'm not fit enough to run a marathon, I'm too chicken to do a boxing day dip and I'm too lazy to do a sponsored clean!

I currently work for Cleveland College Of Art & Design as Students' Union President and we have been working with the lovely people over at Hartlepool Families First since September on bits and pieces, but now I want to do something really big and really help an amazing charity out who do so much for the local community. I wish I could explain to you all the amazing work that HFF do, but honestly they do so much I'd be writing forever! However here are a few of the amazing things they do.
They empower the deaf community by putting on health related and social activities. They offer a health bus service to monitor peoples lives and help them to not develop long term conditions. They have a special needs home support scheme to support parents/carers and even offer specialist and stimulating toys and play equipment. They offer one to one support for young adults and children with behavioural issues and additional needs such as autism. There are so many other amazing things that they do, but I would be listing them all day!
So with that in mind, I'm going to cut off my precious hair! Those who know me know how vain I am (not a day goes by without a selfie) and so this is going to be a huge step for me, which is why I'm asking for your support to raise as much money as I possibly can for such a brilliant charity! To donate, visit or text HCUT88 £ (then any amount from 1-10) to 70070! Thank you,"

Outside My Comfort Zone - Pastels

This weeks theme was chosen by Hollie - "Pastels are here for Spring & Summer but I'd love some inspiration from you lovely ladies. I want to see you flourish in fondant colours. Pinks, Mints, Sky Blues... the list goes on. I don't want to hide away this Summer so this will be good practise!"

I have lusted over quite a few pastel colours over the last few weeks, but as you know I am also on a clothes shopping ban for Lent, so I have resisted buying any!

On top of that I just moved house a couple of days ago so everything is still packed away... chaos!

I thought I would share with you a few of the pastel numbers I have been lusting over rather than skip this week altogether.

New Look Inspire

Yours Clothing

To be honest, I could write for hours about pastels and what has caught my eye these last few weeks - it's nice to see lots of plus size options out there!

What do you have your eye on?

So, So, So, Fabulous!

If you didn't sing the title, go back and read(sing!) it again.

As you know, I am on a clothing shopping ban for Lent... so far, so good! Of course the fact that I can't shop hasn't stopped me virtually window shopping and looking at what I could have bought!

This weekend, I decided to have a look at the So Fabulous brand in a little  more depth. As it stands at the moment, I haven't actually bought from Very before, so I can't comment on size and/or quality but they have some lovely dresses up to a size 32 which is always good news!! They mostly have dresses up to a size 28-30 but they definitely have a few cheeky, beautiful numbers up to a 32.

When my clothing spending ban is up, these beauts are what I have  my eye on!!

I really love the vibrancy and print on this dress. I absolutely feel that this would be made to feel at home in my wardrobe, I can really see myself wearing this, especially with the elasticated waist. Priced at £29.00 it isn't going to break the bank either - and it's available up to a size 32 - YAY!

Another dress at £29 is this lovely lace dress. I really love the pale pink colour of this dress and the fact that it really fits in with the current pastel trend is a definite bonus. It's available up to a size 32 which is also great. I can picture this dressed up or down for day or night, which is always good in my book!

You might have noticed that I am quite the skater dress fan. I really like the pattern on this dress (it's also available in bright pink). I don't have any long sleeved skater dresses so I feel like this would add something a little different to my wardrobe, without being too out there.  Again, this is only £29.00 and available up to a size 32.

So there you have it, So Fabulous seem to have a few great picks at the moment, so if unlike me you're actually allowed to buy clothes then they're well worth checking out!

If you buy anything, I want to see!!

A Meshy Night Out With Friends

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely team at New Look gave me the chance to choose a couple of items from the Inspire range. You may remember the first item I received, the pink tartan dress. The other dress I chose I saved for last Saturday, which was my leaving do for moving away from London. I chose this Inspire Teal Floral Mesh Panel Dress and I love it!

I can't believe that I managed to pick up the dress for the bargain price of £8.00! I actually picked this up at the Tottenham Court Road store and it's showing up as out of stock on the website at the moment, but please keep your eye out for it!

Believe it or not, I am wearing a size 24 dress... The elasticated underbust is VERY stretchy, I could have gotten away with a 22 just as easily. I have to say that this dress is a little different to what I usually wear but I love it! I love that it's from Inspire, which is doing more and more items all of the time - which is only ever a positive thing!

You might notice that my hair looks a little different in the photos. I actually had a hairpiece fitted and made (it's clip in) by the very talented Campbell Wigs... a full review of that will be coming next week, but make sure you check out their page!

As you can see, it was a brilliant night!

Have you shopped at Inspire lately? What caught your eye?

Dear Gemma Collins...

When you go shopping do you like to go on your own or would you prefer to go with friends? When you do choose to go with friends, do you measure them and make sure that they're going to be able to enter the shop that you choose to go in? I would hope not! I don't know many people who choose their friends by the size of their waist, so the fact that a clothing shop lets people in depending on how big they are seems ludicrous to me!

I realise that this message might be been tongue in cheek but really, is this the type of message we should be sending people?

Just because I am fat that doesn't mean I don't want to go shopping with my friends! What if my thin friends and I want to go shopping together, do I ask them to wait outside for me while I browse your rails and see if anything takes my fancy? What if I want their opinion... do I need to tap on the window and get them to sign language their opinion through the glass? Of course not!

I understand that it is not your job to make people feel comfortable or to put together a fashion range that it is inclusive, but you have put yourself up their as a plus size model and so that is what you should be doing. As some one who has worked hard to be in the position of influence you should be telling people that the size of their waist does not matter, that there are so many more important things to worry about than what you look like and that you ABSOLUTELY have the right to enter any shop you so want to, no matter your waist size!!

Please think about your actions and your words, we should be working to bring different body types together not tear them apart!

If you follow me on any social media sites then you'll know that scrawling words of body positivity on my body is nothing all that new. Just last week I had this lovely little number tattoo'd on me - and I love it!

Of course not all body-scrawling has to be quite so permanent as I found out when I stumbled across the page. I spent ages going through pages of photos of people, who were spreading such a positive message - and I loved it! Anything that spreads positivity especially when it comes to confidence, self belief and body image is a good thing in my book and this campaign was no exception.

So - I wanted to get the plus size community involved and put a call out on Twitter. If you check the #PSBYouAreGoodEnough tag on Twitter you'll be able to see everyone sharing their pictures and talking about what they love on their body - it makes you feel all warm and mushy inside!

Unfortunately this week has been crazy busy for me as I am moving a couple of days and having to get packing - what a bloody nightmare! Anyway it;s now nearly midnight and I have snapped a few pics for you - no make up, blotchy skin, tired eyes and hair that could do with a brush... I nearly didn't post them and thought I would just post in the morning when I had a chance to do some "nice" pictures then I realised the whole point of the campaign - YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH

And whatever I am wearing, however I look. I am good enough! Over recent years I have learnt to love all of my body and I have never felt more confident in my skin.

Please take some time to read the other ladies who have taken part - it's honestly a real pleasure to read them!

The Importance Of Good Photos

If you follow me on any social media website then you will know that I love a good photo. Whether it's a selfie, a group photo with my friends or a posing photo for my blog I really love photos. What I love about photos is that they capture the moment perfectly, some of my favourite snaps have been taken spur of the moment capturing a laugh or a smile.

However, what I really love most is photos with children. They seem to grow up so quickly and so capturing photos of them as they grow and develop is so exciting - and such a lovely memento. I don't know about you but I love looking back at 'bad' photos of me when I was a child - such good times!

This week I stumbled across the Little Face of Venture Competition, where children can win a modelling contract for their best snaps. Venture offer up a whole range of amateur modelling opportunities so that you can get together with friends and family to capture your best memories. I have seen quite a few Venture photos and always admire the way they get some lovely shots.

I don't have children but I am sure plenty of you do! The competition is easy to enter and you just need to have a full family photography session with them. The photographer will choose the best picture and submit it to the competition  and then it's all down to votes. Your best bet is to check out the website, but it all looks fun!

Personally I'll be heading back to their website to have a nosey at the entries, you should too!

Let me know if you enter, I'd love to hear all about it

Marvellous Matalan

For quite a few years now Matalan have had the Rogers and Rogers collection, offering up to size 30 clothing. I am sure Matalan will forgive me for saying that up until now their collection hasn't really been saying much. I have bought the odd staple item from Matalan but nothing that really excites me! However, one thing that did catch my eye today was their exciting announcement on Facebook today.

Of course, I immediately hot footed it over to the website and I was really impressed! They have loads of dresses, tops, jackets and more. It's great to see fitted items, bright colours and another choice for plus size clothing - I can't wait to visit a store and see what the selection is like on the high street!

The two skater dresses immediately caught my eye and at just £16.00 each they seem like complete bargains.

Have you tried anything from the new Rogers and Rogers collection? I want to hear all about it if you have!

Atomic Swimwear Available on Fashion World

Last week the lovely ladies at Fashion World invited me to a tiki party in Central London - how could I resist? The event was in honour of the lovely Liz McClarnon from Atomic Kitten, who has launched her own range of swimwear with Fashion World.

When I was invited to the event, I knew I wanted to go and have a nosey but I didn't expect to excited, after all I hadn't heard of Liz launching a plus size range. I headed over to the Fashion World website to have a nosey and I was pleasantly surprised. As with most of Fashion World items everything in Liz's range goes up to a size 32 - finally a 'normal' range that caters for everyone.

What's available?

When I arrived at the event I was greeted by these two lovely men... and handed a cocktail presented in a real pineapple.. Let's face it, what more could a girl want?
Pineapple not to scale - which is a shame!

Liz was lovely throughout the whole evening and is clearly very passionate about her new range, which is great to see. I am not a swimwear expert but the pieces all felt nice to the touch, stretchy and high quality when I saw them at the range so if you're looking for swimwear then I would definitely give it a try!

I attended the event with Lucia from U Can't Wear That - Fashion World kept the food coming and the drinks flowing and thoroughly looked after us all - thank you so much!

Make sure you head over to the Fashion World website and check out Liz's swimwear range!

Any summer holidays planned this summer?
