Hints and Tips For Being a Grownup

Even though I am not dwelling on it (as I don't really care about age), this month I turn 36. I know it's not a big milestone birthday for most - but it does mean I am nearer to 40 than I am to 30; and in many ways that does feel like a big deal.

Over the last few months, there have been some changes in my life which means that I am undoubtedly moving more towards being an actual adult - about time I suppose. If you have read my blog before you'll know that I moved into my own flat a few months ago; and I have had to make some adjustments to get on with living on my own. I have also changed roles with my job since the start of the year, which has been exciting and a reasonably big change too!

Being a Grown-up.

One of the biggest things about moving into adult-hood is taking more control of your finances. Yes, I am still lucky enough to have money in order to be able to buy nice dresses and do nice things, but I do now have to make sure the bills are paid first.

As someone looking after their finances it is a good idea to find out more about your credit score too. Even if you don't have the best credit rating, it can be good to know what your rating is and when you stand. This allows you to generate a plan to improve it if you wish and work towards doing what you need to do to get things right.

Getting Things Done

In order to be a grown-up; I find I have to be much more organised. Planning my bills to ensure they get paid, have a day that I do my grocery shopping on, having a routine for work and planning life in advance. These can seem like small things, but they really do help to make a life that is happy and content. No rushing around, worrying about when you're doing to do things and how you're going to get certain things done.

That said, I am definitely not a proper grown -up and probably won't be anytime soon. So if you wan to find out about your credit score and be organised, go for it but if you don't want to, that's okay too!

Where do you stand on being an adult?
