Big Bird - My ASOS Curve Sale Bargain!

I have to admit being a fan of a sale - I mean, when you can get a dress at a bargain price - why not!? Just before Christmas ASOS announced a massive up to 50% off and I could have wept - who wants to be bargain dress shopping before Christmas?

Anyway - two dresses caught my eye and so I had to have them - which at a total of £22 for 2 dresses delivered was amazing! I got my hands on this brill bird print dress & a lovely polka dot one, which no doubt I'll write about in the future too!

I wore it out the other day teamed up with a stretchy belt, New Look Jacket, One One Three Leggings and a New Look lion necklace (which was another sale bargain at £2!)

I found the dress to be a very generous fit and I love the pattern - which is pretty but also plain, so can be dressed up in anyway you want. It's also elasticated under the bust, which helps to give it a lovely shape and be nice and flattering, for want of a better word!

What sale bargains have you snapped up?

You can grab this ASOS dress at http://www.asos.com/ASOS-Curve/ASOS-CURVE-Skater-Dress-In-Bird-Print/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3118890&SearchQuery=bird%20print&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=3&clr=Print for just £13!

Brit Mums Xmas Do

On Monday I attended the BritMums Xmas Do... As I am not a parent blogger (I know shocking, right?) I don't get to hear about many of these events! Thankfully my flatmate is a mummy-to-be blogger and she heard about the event - with the promise of sparkling Christmas lights and cake I couldn't resist.

There were around 80 bloggers at the event - which was packed full of delicious goodies from Morrisons to try - lots of their Christmas range was there to tickle our taste buds (I thoroughly recommend the salt sea caramel pretzels)... We were treated to lunch and then given a goodie bag to take home - the team behind Brit Mums and Morrisons really looked after us!

I was really taken back by just how friendly everyone was - even to a non-parent blogger like me! Lots of people came up to say hi, ask about my blog, if I was enjoying the event etc - I even got 'spotted' from attending Blogfest a couple of weeks ago!

Thank you to BritMums for letting me come along - Hopefully see you all soon!

I didn't know what to wear to the event - it started at 10:30am, so this was definitely not a dress up occasion! In the end I went for this trusty dress from New Look and a new beige cardigan from Just For 5 Pounds. I blogged about them last week and how good value their plus size range seemed - They kindly sent me this cardigan to try for myself. I have to say I was really impressed with the quality and the fit - it is a very generous fit and feels really nice on. In my opinion it is a complete bargain for a fiver and I am very tempted to try something else from the site!

Taking Shape at Ms Curvaceous

Last night I attended the Ms Curvaceous competition held in at The Camden Centre in Kings Cross. Although it was the 3rd year of the competition, it was my first time attending one - or anything like it! I have to say I am glad that I did.

I don't want to blog to much about names, numbers, facts and figures because I think you can read them anywhere - No doubt there will be tonnes of write ups and reviews online (the hashtag is #MCUK if you want to look it up).

However... I wanted to talk about positivity. The whole competition put such a positive spin on things - great food, great music and great company, what more could a girl want? The girls in the competition were all beautiful and they gave great speeches about their reasons for entering the competition - with positive body image messages and creating a new generation of females happy with their bodies were amongst the most popular reasons given - and what good reasons they are!

I was in turmoil over what to wear, mainly because lots of my clothes are quite casual and blingy - maybe not the best outfit for a modelling competition. Thankfully Taking Shape stepped up to the mark with a new dress and cardigan which they kindly gifted to me last week (thank you!!).

If you come across their brand then be sure to check them out. They're currently opening stores throughout the UK (YAY!) and stock up to a size 26. That said, both of the items I wore were a size 26 and fit me fine - and we all know that's a bit smaller than I usually wear!

Dress - Floral Island Dress
Cardigan - Valentino Cardigan

The clothes on the site have a mature feel to them, but that doesn't mean you can't dress it up how you want to - because you'll definitely be able too! So, please do not be afraid to experiment - it pays off!! Don't be scared to think outside the box - the labels on these clothes are too small for me, but they still fit me fine - so always try things before you give up on them!

I'll take some better photos another time - but the eye shadow I am wearing comes from the Barry M Smoking Hot Palette which they kindly sent me last month. I have used all of the colours so far and I love it - I just need a chance to take some proper photos. I am by no means a beauty blogger expert, but all I know is that it goes on well, looks brill and stayed on all night - with a bit of sparkle in the silver shade of eye shadow - which all make it a winner in my book!

At the Ms Curvaceous competition I bumped into this bunch of beauts - what a brill end to a fab weekend!

What did you all get up to this weekend?

Plus London - What I Wore

As you will probably have seen - I attended Plus London, a London based bloggers/plus size event last weekend. Leading up to the event I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to wear - I knew I would be out and about all day, so I wanted to make sure I was comfortable as well as looked good... After all, with so many fabulous plus size bloggers in attendance I couldn't be left behind in the style stakes!

In the end I opted for my green ASOS wrap around top, leggings and my trusty flats from Primark.

The backdrop is the back of the Hoxton Arches gallery where Plus London was held - how amazing does it look?

I had some professional photos taken on the day so I'll get those posted soon too!

Did you attend Plus London? I lusted after SO many outfits on the day, so please send me links so I can lust some more!

Pretty Birthday Dresses

Last week for my birthday my friend Lucia (from http://www.ucantwearthat.com) bought me a lovely new dress from New Look. I have to admit that the dress is something that I would have glanced at on the rack and not picked up. But then, hands up, I am guilty of sticking to one style of clothing as much as possible. The lack of sleeves on this dress would have put me off - even though the pattern is beautiful!

Inspire Burgundy Butterfly Skater Dress
That said - I love it!! I love the fit, I love the pattern and SHOCK HORROR I love the sleeves! I know for many people getting their fat arms out is a big deal and I guess I somehow fell under that umbrella, but actually you know what - who cares!

The truth is that, whatever I wear I will look fat! Whether I wear sleeves or no sleeves, I will still look the same shape, so why not wear whatever I like!

The dress is from New Look and goes up to a 32. I found the fit to be a good one although the material doesn't have much stretch to it, so you should probably bear that in mind when ordering. I really loved that this was patterned and pretty without being too bright - so perfect for the day time!

On the day I teamed it up with my brand new over the body bag (Thanks little sister!), leggings from Love Ur Curves, cardigan from Yours Clothing and boots from Primark.

I love that my friends help me push boundaries and wear clothes that make me feel fabulous!! If you love the dress, you can get it here.

Have you ever been 'forced' to push the boundaries of fashion and ended up loving it!?

Pink Skater Dress & Birthday Drinks!

On Saturday I was lucky enough to go on a night out with some of my favouritest people in the world to celebrate my birthday! We headed to Reflex in Watford to dance to cheesy 80s tunes and drink way to many £2 jagerbombs - good times!

In the days leading up to the night out, I started to wonder what I would wear... I spotted this dress on the Topsy Curvy website a few days before and bought it. Luckily it came on Saturday morning and when I tried it on, I thought it was perfect for what I wanted!

The dress is quite short, so I would definitely always wear it with leggings. That said, it is a lovely fit and the material feels a really good quality! Considering I picked this up in their sale for a bargain price of £15 I am more than happy! (I also got it in teal, but haven't worn that out yet)

Dress: Topsy Curvy
Leggings: Simply Be
Belt: Yours Clothing
Necklace: Primark

My lovely friend Lucia spent the afternoon doing mine and my sisters make up - thank you!!

I won't scare you with the photos from the night out - we did get quite messy! If anyone saw a fat girl, in bright pink dancing to Chesney Hawkes at 2am on Saturday night/Sunday morning it was probably me!

As for now... I am off to eat birthday cake for breakfast and then have a birthday dinner with my friends tonight - what a lucky girl!

It's A Nice Day For A Kent Wedding!

Following on from last weeks Black and Bling party I attended the wedding of two of my lovely friends yesterday. I can't even begin to tell you the amazing thought that Tom and Toria put into their wedding and all of the little personal touches they thought out - which really helped to make sure that everyone had a great day!

I don't want to talk too much about the little touches because I am bridesmaid in October (YAY!) and want to borrow a few ideas for my friends wedding (I have checked with the Bride from yesterday)... I just haven't checked with Gemma, the October bride yet - but it will be fine!! I hope.... Hi Gem :)

Anyway... For the wedding I decided to wear an orange maxi dress with I bought a few months ago and only worn once - for a charity ball.

I have tried to find the dress on the Simply Be website to give you more details but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. What I can tell you is that it has a tighter, thicker orange material underneath and then the orange and purple layer over the top is much thinner and free flowing. I really love the pattern of this dress and its really comfortable to wear all day!

I am bridesmaid for my friend in October and the hen party is next weekend - looking out for more outfit updates then!

Have you been to any weddings this year? What did you wear?

A Walk On The Wild Side

Two posts in one day - you lucky lot!

As you know, on Wednesday evening I attended a bloggers event for Pink Clove. For a few days before I ummed and ahhed over what to wear. With so many fabulous bloggers in attendance I knew I wanted to make sure that I was 100% happy with my outfit. I also wanted to try and minimize the chance of anyone else wearing the same outfit as me!

In the end I opted for this leopard print gaga dress from Yours Clothing. I have had this dress for ages and so I thought, the chances of someone else wearing it would be minimal.

I am very lucky in that one of my favouritest people in the world is a make up artist, so she came over to my flat before I went to give me a make over - and I was really happy with the results! Lucia also blogs over at www.ucantwearthat.com so make sure you check her out!

I teamed up the outfit with black leggings, white shoes with a black bow and a black and white bag. Of course this was too monochrome for me, so I had to add a splash of colour with my fabulous Black Heart Creatives, Wannabe Princess neckace!

The event was held at Hush Restuarent in Mayfair, which was really lovely! The setting outside was really nice, walking down a cobbled street into the courtyard was beautiful!

I had a really nice night and the pieces on offer from Pink Clove are lovely - I thoroughly recommend checking them out!

I attended the event with Leighanne from Bump and Beyond and Lucia from U Can't Wear That. Here we are all dressed up and ready to go, before leaving the house!

Drinks in Soho

Last night I went out for drinks in Soho and had the usual last minute worry of what to wear. In the end I was really pleased with the simple but pretty outfit I wore, so I thought I would do a rare Outfit Of The Day Post and put it up here for you all to have a nosey at!

Black and Bling

At the weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to the Hen Party of one of my good friends! The original plan was a picnic day in London (with a treasure hunt) and then to go to see a show at Wonderground in Waterloo. Unfortunately the weather put a dampener on our plans - so we ended up having dinner and drinks (what a shame!) in Leicester Square before we went to see the show in Waterloo. If you haven't been to see LIMBO at Waterloo then I can not recommend it enough! The show was breathtaking and Wonderland is fantastic - really worth a visit!

We also paid a cheeky visit to M and M world in the afternoon too! It wasn't my idea honest ;)

The dress code was 'black and bling' and people didn't appoint! As you know, I don't really tend to wear black so I did wonder what I was going to wear. Then I remembered that I bought this black sparkly dress from Excite clothing last  year on eBay and thought it was perfect.

Ignore the badly posed, selfie style photos - I really need to work out the timer on my camera.
Anyway to go with the theme I wore a set of silver bangles from Primark and a frog sparkly necklace from Love Ur Curves.

Skater Girl Indulges

I know I rant quite a lot about body image issues, but as a BBW blog I feel it is important to also bring you plus size bargains and clothes that I like. I know that as a self-confessed fat chick it can be hard to fit clothes you like, that fit, that you can actually afford.

One of my new-found faves is ASOS Curve. I know I am quite late to the party with this website, but I really am loving everything that they have on offer at the moment.

Last week I picked up this bargain of a grey skater dress and decided to wear it to Club Indulge on Saturday.

Skater Dress With Sweetheart Neckline And Short Sleeve

I really like the fit of the dress and the fact that it is long enough to wear without leggings - although it would look pretty funky teamed up with leggings. That is the beauty of a dress like this, the choice is yours! I found it very flattering around the bust and it was more than comfortable to wear all night. I bought a size down from my usual size and it still fit fine. For just £15.00 in their current ASOS Curve sale, it really is a must have for any wardrobe. Get yours here

I teamed it up with my other new found love - a necklace from Black Heart Creatives. I have three of these now - I'll blog about my other favourite necklace another time. I got comments on my necklace all night long, with loads of other ladies wanting to get their hands on one!

I wore the outfit to Club Indulge - which is a relatively new plus size party that was held in London Bridge. Held in champagne bar right next to the Hilton Hotel the summer mixer event did threaten to be ruined by rain but actually the 4th Club Indulge was quite possibly my favourite one yet. The next one is at the end of August and if you haven't been to one before, I would recommend it!

The night did get a bit blurry - I blame the wine!
Dress: ASOS Curve
Shoes: Primark
Belt: Yours Clothing (old season)

Once You Go Black...

As I went out last night I wore two outfits yesterday... I debated between two short posts and one massive one & decided to split the posts up!

Once again I decided to showcase a pair of my new Love Ur Curves leggings and opted for the blue leggings with white hearts. I found this to be a great fit, but they are longer than the plain/block coloured leggings i also picked up. It wasn't a problem, but maybe something to be aware of.

As they are patterned leggings I had wondered what I would be able to wear them with. Earlier this week I picked up a black skater dress on sale for £20.00 in Evans and realised it would be perfect. Anyone who knows me, knows that wearing black isn't something I do very often, so i did have to dress it up with a large pink statement necklace.

The Evans dress was lovely, but a little baggy for me, So I tucked it with a belt and gave it a bit more shape. The LOVE necklace I picked up Primark ages ago and have been looking for an outfit to wear it with. I think the length of the dress allows you to see just enough of the leggings for the pattern to not be too overbearing.

You'll have to excuse the poses - I am still getting used to this posing malarky!

I really enjoyed this outfit and can definitely see me using more black in my wardrobe with the right colourful pieces added to it!

Do you have any key colours, styles or patterns in your wardrobe?

Debz x

Leggings For All Occasions!

Earlier this week I blogged about the 4 pairs of bright coloured leggings I bought last week & as of yesterday I managed to wear a pair of them out!

As they're bright, I wanted to make sure that the rest of the outfit contrasted well with them without going to over the top.

In the end I decided to team the blue pair of leggings up with an AX Paris dress I picked up from Simply Be a few weeks ago. I absolutely adore the AX Paris range and if I could, would probably have every single one of their dresses in my wardrobe. The few dresses I have got all fit well and I like the way they nip in to give me a bust but flow over the rest of my body to be flattering.

I decided to team the dress up with the blue leggings as I thought they would be the ideal daytime outfit.

Leggings: Love Ur Curves
Dress: AX Paris
Necklace: Love Ur Curves
Belt: Yours Clothing
Shoes: Primark

I found the leggings a great size & really comfortable to wear. There was plenty of stretch in them, but not enough that they went see-through, which is every girl leggings nightmare!

A Weekend Of Indulgence

Yesterday, I attended the first Indulge Pop Up Plus Size Market in Kentish Town. The idea is that people get together to swap clothes, buy each others unwanted clothes and grab a bit of a bargain in the process - after all, one mans trash is another mans treasure.

It was the first event of this type but it was a fun afternoon - a few people even came in off the street to have a browse. I believe the next one is due to be on the last Saturday in August so if you can make it I would definitely recommend it!

Keep an eye on the Club Indulge Facebook for details and dates :)

While I was there, I had my beady eye on a lovely pink sparkly dress that fellow blogger Lucia from U Can't Wear That was selling.

The coral shade, popcorn knit dress with all of its sequins caught my eye straight away! In the end I swapped it for a flower skirt that I no longer wanted - so we were both happy!

After a quick disco nap at home I then hot footed it back across town to attend the 3rd Club Indulge club night. As 'BBW nights' go, I think people know I have very mixed feelings, but I always have a good time at Indulge. With an upstairs bar where we could sit and chat and a basement dancefloor it has everything you could hope for from a night out!

The team behind Club Indulge are doing what they can to make a 'fat friendly' night for anyone that wants to attend and it was nice to see old and new faces at the event. If you haven't checked it out then I would recomemnd going to their next one in July - I have even had the DJ 'pinky promise' me that he is going to Dolly Parton 9-5 next time!

It seemed only right that I wore my brand new, bargain dress - and I loved it! It's slightly different to my usual style (not enough cleevage) but it fit well and was comfy to wear. It definitely has me tempted to try other New Look Inspire pieces!

How was everyones weekend?
