Taking Body Positive Influences From All Over

Evening :)

If you have read my blog before then you will have seen that I love finding positive body image sources from all over. I have linked to different people before and I think it's important to surround yourself with positive stuff, where possible. I am not saying it's a miracle cure, but I am very happy and content in the skin I am in - and for years I have sought out, collected, watched and shared positive images, videos and sayings... I guess the two are related!

Anyway, when I find pieces that I like, I want to share them because I think its important for people to have places they can stumble across little rays of sunshine when they didn't expect it - so here you go!

Carrie Hope Fletcher

The little sister of Tom McFly has had a YouTube channel for a while now. I don't pretend to know lots of facts about her but I do love her singing voice! Anyway, last week she released this video of her talking about body image, her own body and how she feels about confidence etc. I really enjoyed watching it and I hope you will too! :)

Hollie McNish

I have blogged about Hollie before and my love of her poems. This week I was reminded of her words when I found out that some of her poetry was being used for Dove adverts.

My favourite of hers is a poem called "WOW"

One of her Dove advert ones can be seen/heard here:

I love all of these pieces - and a couple more by Hollie McNish. As ever I love Mary Lambert, Natasha Devon and so many other people!

Surrounding myself with positive influences like this really helps me to be happy with who I am...

What do you do to help yourself with body confidence? Do you find people influential to the way you feel about your body?

I'd love to know your thoughts!

Gemma Cruickshank Collexions: The Launch

Earlier this week I was invited down to Mary Janes Bar in Tower Hill to see the official unveiling of the Gemma Cruickshank Collexions. If you're not sure who Gemma is or why you should be excited about this, you can see my interview with her here.

Gemma is an independent fashion designer and this week unveiled her first collection - and what a collection it was.

I apologise for the bad quality of the photos  - it was SO busy and everyone was SO keen to see the collection that we couldn't all get the photos we wanted. However, what a great sign for Gemma that SO many people are keen to see what she has to offer - Go Team Gemma!

With live music, fantastic organisation, buy one get one free cocktails and banana cake made by Gemma's mum to die for  - it was a night not to be missed!

It was also nice to meet lots of new people and catch up with a few familiar faces!

And of course, catch up with the lovely lady herself!

I am sure there will be a whole host of better photos up very soon - as well as her line being launched for sale properly. In the meantime check out her website or #TeamGemma on most social networks to see what is going on and all the photos from the night!

My First Ever ASOS Curve Purchase

When I read about the ASOS Curve last week, I had to make a purchase. Having never bought from ASOS  Curve before I wasn't 100% sure what to buy - but in the end I opted for 3 new dresses... I know, surprising! haha

My bargain purchase came a few days later, all packed lovely and securely - How exciting!

A little sneak peak of what I bought! ;)
My favourite dress from the 3 I bought (I'll more than likely blog about them all at some point) was the T-Shirt Dress In Letter Print that was a bargain at £13.00 in the sale!

I decided to wear it out on Saturday night and really liked the fit. As I am quite short, it was just the right length for me to wear as a dress without leggings, exactly what I needed for the heatwave that we experienced this weekend.

I liked the lightweight material of the dress, which made it comfortable to wear all night.
I put the photos up on Facebook the next day and someone pointed out there is an unfortunate choice of words across the front, made up in the random pattern in the lettering. ASOS Curve have apologised, refunded my money and assured me that it isn't the same on every dress!

All in all, despite the word in the pattern (which once you see it, you can't help but notice it every time) I was really impressed with the dress & the service I received from ASOS and so would definitely recommend them and their clothes to anyone looking for somewhere new to shop.

Have you shopped at ASOS Curve before, what did you think?

Body Gossip Flash Mob - I'll Be There, Will You?

I have always wanted to go to a flash mob... the nearest I have been is watching one as I walked through St. Pancras train station once, but it isn't enough!

Then I heard that Body Gossip are holding a flash mob tomorrow in London and I know I had to be there! The Body Gossip team are fantastic for promoting body acceptance and positivity and as you all know by now, Natasha Devon is a bit of a hero of mine :)

So... On 28th June, we’re gathering outside the Southbank Centre (riverside) in London.

We’ll give each person who attends a large paper heart and ask them to write something they LOVE about their body on the heart.

At 1pm, everyone to hold up their heart for 3 minutes

I'll be there... Will you?

I haven’t been to anything like before, I am really excited to see what it’s like! I’ll try and get some photos and write up what it was like. Now I just need to decide what to wear!

If you were (or are) going; what would you write on your paper heart?

The team are working on this being an online flash mob too. See their page for all the details on how to be involved!

Leggings To Make Your Legs Stand Out

Everyone who knows me knows that I don't shy away from colour. I love colourful clothes, floral patterns and clothes that have something to say about themselves. In general I like to wear bright coloured tops and finish them off with a pair of dark leggings. I love this look because I think it is something that you can pull off for any occasion and depending how you dress up (or down!) an outfit this style can be suitable for day or nightwear.

However, when I saw these leggings on Love Ur Curves, I knew I had to try something new!

I have been on the search for bright leggings for a while now but haven’t been able to find anything that really grabbed my eye - especially without paying over the odds. I have bought a few pieces from Love Ur Curves, so when I saw these at 2 pairs for £15.00 I couldn't resist! They have a massive range of colours available; it was hard to pick just 4 I wanted!

My package came yesterday.. I also ordered 2 necklaces which are equally lovely. I love buying from Love Ur Curves because the items always arrive quickly (I ordered this Friday, it arrived Monday) and are well packed... Their colourful packaging always gets me excited when they arrive!

I have to say - the leggings do not disappoint! I ordered a size smaller than normal (doesn't everyone do that with leggings?) and they fit really well! There is also loads of stretch in the material so they're comfy and would fit a range of sizes.

I love these 3 plain, block colour leggings and I can already think of a few dresses in my wardrobe that these would be suitable to wear with. The great thing about leggings of one colour like this is that they're easy to dress with almost anything and you don’t have to worry about patterns clashing.

I fell in love with these leggings straight away but worried about what I would be able to wear them with. Most of the clothes in my wardrobe are patterned, so I was worried about having an outfit that clashed just a bit too much. However, I went to Evans in Marble Arch yesterday and picked up a great dress that I can wear with these. I plan to wear it on Friday, so I'll be able to do a proper outfit post then!

If you're looking for plus size clothes with a difference then Love Ur Curves is great. She also stocks some stuff that you see popping up on other sites, but generally with a lower price!

What do you think?
