Revisiting Pink Clove

You might have noticed the odd blog post about Pink Clove on my blog before. In fact back when they started they went to their launch dinner and was one of the first to see their offerings - do you remember that infamous tartan dress? It sold out SO quickly because it was SO lovely. I have been a fan of Pink Clove from the start.

Since then I have blogged about things I'd like to buy if they did my size and tweeted about the lack of items in my size too. You see, Pink Clove do up to size 32 and that was something that always excited me about their brand. Over recent months the items that they offer up to a size 32 have gotten less and less - in fact in their new arrivals section they only have a selection of vests in different colours, everything else stops at a size 28. I know it can sometimes feel like I give brands a hard time, don't get me wrong I bore myself saying the same thing over and over again. However it is simply through disappointment, I love the items that Pink Clove offer and I get excited that they offer up to a size 32 until I see what is ACTUALLY available.

Anyway, a few weeks ago Pink Clove contacted me and explained that they would like me to try some of their items. They know that I have been quite vocal about my disappointments in the past but would like me to see just how good their items were - so I accepted.

I chose 3 items in a size 28 and waited for them to arrive. I can often make size 28 clothes work for me, they perhaps come up shorter or a bit tighter but that is not something that I mind. The clothes came quickly and I am happy to say the quality was great. The first 2 items are featured in this blog, but there is also a review of their denim shift dress to come!

I chose this duster jacket simply because it's something a little different to me. I am not a fan of jackets in general but with winter well and truly here it's about time I start thinking about covering up. I liked the idea of stepping outside my comfort zone and trying something new! I am so glad I did. I really love the look of the jacket and I know it's something that I will be wearing again and again.

The floral top is actually a dress but because of the size it comes up a bit shorter. That said, I actually really like it as a top and it goes to show that you can make plus size fashion work for you! Another lesson about ignoring sizes and trying items to see how they fit!

I'm not going to lie, I would love more Pink Clove items in a size 32. However that is purely because I love the items I already have in my wardrobe from there and I want more! At least trying these items has reminded me that I can make their items work for me and they look great - I'll definitely be trying them again!

Have you shopped at Pink Clove? What are your favourite items?

Pink Clove: Here's What I Would Have Spent

When Pink Clove launched last year with an array of tartan dresses, print tops and leggings that went up to a size 32 I was one of the first to sing their praises from the roof tops! I love the fact that they offered fast, fashion in sizes right up to a size 32.

Slowly I started to notice that their new arrivals would shrink quite considerably when I ticked the 30/32 box to see what was available. To me it was such a shame that a range that started so well went down hill. I understand there are probably some restrictions as to what they can offer & that some 30/32 options is better than none - but I'd love to see more!

Today I thought I would head to the Pink Clove website to see what they were saying... Firstly they had this AMAZING dress in a size 32 which made me very happy, it's an item I'll be adding to my wardrobe for sure!

Seeing this in my size spurred me on to see what else was available. Their New Arrivals page is pretty exciting at the moment and I love seeing these plus size options. Sadly as soon as I tick my size I go down from 18 pages of available items to get 8... Which if you ask me, is a massive shame.

I feel like we need to start letting retailers know what we would buy, if they would give us the option. After all, they're not going to start stocking it until they know the demand is there!

So... Pink Clove, Here's What I Would Have Spent!

I really feel that alot of this is great for plus size fashion... Extend the sizes offered and I'd be even happier! Keep up the good work Pink Clove, but do what you can to make a fat girl happy please ;)

Pink Clove - Is Their Facebook Page Hot or Not?

This morning on a couple of different platforms I saw people posting that they were upset about a 'hot or not' type feature that Pink Clove featured on their Facebook page.

My question to you is.... Is this just a bit of fun or are you offended by the post? Do you think that the retailer is just having a giggle with its customers or should they be more aware of what they are saying and much more body positive?

The post (which has now been deleted) certainly has raised a few eyebrows and posts on the picture are very mixed - with complaints being met by Pink Clove saying 'it's just a bit of fun'. They edited the photo after a few negative pictures to make it clear that they think it's just a bit of fun - but do you agree?

I'd love to know your thoughts!

Shop Your Stash: Recycling Dresses

Last weekend I had a night out in Birmingham with lots of my favourite people and it was fab. I always get excited for weekends away with a night out as it feels like more of a special occasion.

What I didn't know was, what to wear! Unlike when I am at home - when I am stuck in a hotel room I have to go with what I have rather than being able to go through my wardrobe to find stuff!

I took two dresses with me, a new one from Simply Be(post coming soon) and this lovely one from Pink Clove. I actually picked this dress up from Pink Clove in the sale months ago for something silly like £8! I haven't worn it much so it was nice to give it the outing it deserves.

I absolutely fall into the trap of 'needing' a new dress for every single night out... But I have to try and change that! Now that I don't live in London I am travelling to new places to see my friends (I am currently in Derby at Lucia from www.ucantwearthat.com's house). If I want to travel and see people I simply can't justify a new outfit every time... It's silly!

So I thought it would be perfect for a Shop Your Stash post, because I am too am having to learn my fashion limits!

How do you feel about re-wearing dresses to nights out?

Pink To Make The Boys Wink

There is a possibility I have used that title before - oops! Anyway, have you seen the latest offerings by Pink Clove? I blogged a few weeks back about their new items and they seem to be just going from strength to strength! One thing I love about Pink Clove is their bold colours and the fact that aren't afraid to use bright prints and patterns - Well Done Pink Clove!

They offered to send me an item from their new collection and of course, I chose the brightest dress that I could - the Sweet Heart Neckline Pink Skater Dress. It's quite a thick material but I like that because it pulls you in a little and feels supportive. I wore this to see McBusted last week and it was so comfortable to wear all day!

They also have a similar dress without the sweet heart neck line if that is a style you would prefer. They also have both types of dresses in a range of colours (including a gorgeous rush orange colour) all for under £25 each.

It feels like great quality and washed well when I put it through a wash. It is a great fit and pretty much spot on for sizing I would say!

Of course I couldn't resist teaming it up with my pink Black Heart Creatives necklace, which I think matches perfectly!

Have you bought anything from the new Pink Clove range?

Summer Wish List - My Shopping Ban Is Nearly Over!

You might remember a month ago I announced that I was going to give up clothes shopping for Lent! Quite a few people decided to join me and though some have fallen by the wayside there is still a few of us going strong!

Now that I am on the final stretch of the shopping challenge (10 days to go!) I find my self online-window shopping and lusting over the items that I am going to buy when I finally am allowed to spend. Of course with a list as long as my arm, I can't possibly buy them all but with so many vibrant patterns and colours out there it's going to be hard to decide what I want to get my hands on first! I know we often moan about the lack of choice when it comes to plus size fashion, but I really feel (in my as far from expert opinion as you can get) that the retailers are doing us proud  this season!

Here's a look at the retailers that have not been making my shopping challenge very easy!

Pink Clove

Pink Clove seem to have updated their New Arrivals page twice in the last week (Yes, I stalk them that much) and both times I have gasped and then done a little dance of excitement. The colour of the page alone makes me smile - I love so many of their items! My top 3 (today, this will change tomorrow) are:

Tropical Floral Trousers, Sweetheart Neck Skater Dress (available in lots of colours), Floral Spot Skater Dress

Scarlett & Jo

Sold through Evans Online and a handful of Evans stores, if you haven't come across Scarlett & Jo before you're about the experience a revelation! I have blogged about these lovely dresses before and you'll see lots of bloggers also rave about them. There is just so much right about these dresses - the fit, the colours, the shade, the style - everything! This season they have launched a range of prom dresses and my goodness, they're beautiful!

2 in 1 Floral Prom Dress and the Floral Layered Maxi Dress

Topsy Curvy

Still quite a new player in the world of plus size fashion Topsy Curvy just seem to be getting it right time after time. Sadly I haven't been able to try any of their new stuff yet because of my spending ban, so I don't know about quality - but LOOK AT THOSE COLOURS!!! These girls seem to hit the nail on the head when it comes to giving plus size ladies a choice when it comes to clothing & I can't wait to see what else they have to offer! You can buy via their website although their Facebook seems to get items added quicker and that's where I spend my time lusting!

Neon Newspaper & Flower Midi Dress, 60s Print Cut Out Swing Dress and the Leopard & Rose Swing Dress

Lusting Over...

All of these are items that I would love to buy & most probably will splash the cash on at some stage. I also wanted to add a little lust-list in the shape of Silly Old Sea Dog - a vintage style dress company that have recently started a plus size range. Their dresses are available up to a size 28 and they are BEAUTIFUL! The dresses are (sadly) a little out of my price range but if you're looking for a dress with a difference and are willing to invest I would definitely head over to their site!

So.. .What are you planning to buy over the next few weeks, has anything pretty caught your eye?

Different Strokes For Different Folks

One thing I love about reading blogs is seeing how different people choose to style different outfits. I thought I would put together a few different examples as I find it fascinating to see. It's interesting to me to see how different dresses can look so different on ladies of vary heights, sizes, body shapes and different styles.

The Infamous Pink Clove Skater Dress

L-R - Me, Sarah from http://plussizeproud.wordpress.com/, Nikki from http://www.nattynikki.com/, Caroline from http://www.curvywordy.com/

The Simply Be Mermaid Dress

L-R Me, Rachel from http://www.adressisforlife.com/, Betty from http://pamperandcurves.blogspot.co.uk/

Red Lace New Look Dress

L-R Me, Mookie from muki7x7.blogspot.co.uk, Leah from http://www.justmeleah.co.uk/

I love that all of these dress look different on different ladies, even if they're styled the same! It just goes to show that you never know how a dress is going to look until you try it on - so get out there, be brave and try something new!

I'd love to expand on this feature in the future - Have you got a photo of you in a dress I have? I'd love to see and if possible share it with my readers!

Thanks

ABC Of The New Pink Clove Collection

I saw on Twitter a couple of days ago that Pink Clove had put a couple of new items on their website and of course, couldn't resist a little peak! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when I saw the page - full of colour and patterns! I loved it!

I don't know if dress-envy is an actual condition, but if it is - I have it!! I thought I would take a closer look at a couple of their pieces... so here you have it!

Affordable - Floral Skater Dress

http://www.pinkclove.co.uk/dresses-c2/floral-skater-dress-p192

For a skater dress, I can't believe this only costs £18.00. I would usually expect to pay a bit more for a patterned skater dress like this. I like the length that it is on the model and if it came up to a similar length on me I would be very happy. The dress is available up to a size 26/28 and would definitely be on my 'to buy' list, if I had the budget!

Bargain - Animal Print Baby Doll Tunic

What I love about this baby doll tunic is that it's available in two colours - I love it when plus size fashion has choices which is something that we don't often see. I know that for some people tunic length tops are a bit short but as you can see both types go well with leggings. For £18.00 each, these are both bargains and I'd love to see both in my wardrobe.

Cash To Splash - Blue Colour Block Dress or Ballerina Wrap Dress

I had to cheat a little on the Cash to Splash section - firstly because both of these dresses are just £24 each and secondly because I chose both dresses! You probably already know, but I love a bit of colour. Both of these dresses are just so bright and vibrant that I would love to own them!

As yet, I have yet to try anything from the new Pink Clove collection, once I buy an item or two I will be sure to let you know!

Have you tried anything yet?

Feeling A Bit Of Love For Pink Clove

I have blogged about Pink Clove before and in all likelihood I will blog about them again! A few months ago I bought a couple of dresses in their sale - I got both of these for about £8 each, so a complete bargain! I haven't had a chance to put them on the blog yet, so I thought I would whack up some photos while I had the chance!

Comfy Casuals

Last weekend I made the journey home to be a bridesmaid - you can see the post here. My family live in Lancashire which means that journeying home usually takes between 3-4 hours door to door so I obviously want to be comfortable when I travel.

Here's what I wore this weekend:

Dress: ASOS
Leggings: Love Ur Curves
Cardigan: Pink Clove
Boots: Primark
Belt: Yours Clothing

When you're travelling, going up and down the tube stairs and then on a packed train with a heavy suitcase you really dont want to be layered up to much because you just get too hot and bothered too quickly. This is perfect for travelling because it's comfy to wear, cosy and I can easily remove the cardigan if I get too hot!

What are your comfortable 'go to' items?

Floral Skater Dress By Pink Clove

I have talked about Pink Clove many, many times before so I don't want to go on about them too much!

What I will say is that I have another dress of theirs - and the Floral Skater Dress does not disappoint!

I love the floral pattern of the dress and the skater dress makes it a lovely and flattering fit. I teamed it up with leggings, but tights would work just as well!

It is currently on the website for a bargain price of £22.00. It it a nice thick material too, so great for winter!

If you have read any of my blog posts - or indeed any plus size bloggers posts then you'll see that plenty of people are raving about the Pink Clove tartan dress!

As soon as the Pink Clove website was launched and the collection announced people started to talk about the tartan dress! When I saw it at the Pink Clove Blogger Dinner - I knew I had to have it!

There isn't much I can say about this dress that hasn't already been said - only that I love it! I love the fit and the quality is amazing - a bargain for £22.00!

I do smiley so much better than I do 'sultry'
So there you have it - the amazing tartan dress! It's also available as a skirt if dresses aren't your thing!

I Finally Got My Hands On The Typography Dress!

As many of you know, since I first clapped eyes on the Pink Clove website, I have lusted over the typography dress. Although there are loads of amazing, pretty dresses on the site (some of which I also now own) this dress jumped out at me straight away as being something different.

I love the pattern on the dress and the fact that it is midi length. I was looking for something a little different to add to my winter wardrobe and I found it!

When I attended the Pink Clove dinner I got to see the dress in the flesh and feel how high quality the material was, so I knew I had to have it!

Now... I am proud to say I am a very happy owner of this lovely dress!

As I am quite short the dress is quite long on me - but that means that anyone can 'get away' with wearing this dress without leggings or tights. Of course not everyone is as short as me (5'2) so for most people it would be much shorter!

It is as reasonably thick material which also makes it great for winter! I found the sizing to be very generous, I think I could have easily have downsized on this and for it to still fit although it would be a bit tight - but as a body con dress fan this wouldn't be a problem for me!

I know lots of people have been talking about Pink Clove... Have you bought anything? What did you think?

A Walk On The Wild Side

Two posts in one day - you lucky lot!

As you know, on Wednesday evening I attended a bloggers event for Pink Clove. For a few days before I ummed and ahhed over what to wear. With so many fabulous bloggers in attendance I knew I wanted to make sure that I was 100% happy with my outfit. I also wanted to try and minimize the chance of anyone else wearing the same outfit as me!

In the end I opted for this leopard print gaga dress from Yours Clothing. I have had this dress for ages and so I thought, the chances of someone else wearing it would be minimal.

I am very lucky in that one of my favouritest people in the world is a make up artist, so she came over to my flat before I went to give me a make over - and I was really happy with the results! Lucia also blogs over at www.ucantwearthat.com so make sure you check her out!

I teamed up the outfit with black leggings, white shoes with a black bow and a black and white bag. Of course this was too monochrome for me, so I had to add a splash of colour with my fabulous Black Heart Creatives, Wannabe Princess neckace!

Strike a Pose.
Dress: Yours Clothing
Belt: Yours Clothing
Leggings: Simply Be
Shoes: Primark
Bracelet: eBay
Necklace: Black Heart Creatives
Earrings: Primark
Handbag (pictured below): Primark

The event was held at Hush Restuarent in Mayfair, which was really lovely! The setting outside was really nice, walking down a cobbled street into the courtyard was beautiful!

Posing in Mayfair

I had a really nice night and the pieces on offer from Pink Clove are lovely - I thoroughly recommend checking them out!

I attended the event with Leighanne from Bump and Beyond and Lucia from U Can't Wear That. Here we are all dressed up and ready to go, before leaving the house!

Head Over Heels In Love... With Pink Clove!

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to a bloggers event for Pink Clove. Avid readers of my blog will know that I have already blogged about the site because it captured my attention as soon as it was launched! As a plus size retailer that actually does most (if not all?) of its lines up to a size 30/32 it was a welcome addition to the world of plus size fatshion in my eyes.

Original Review Here:
http://imawannabeprincess.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/abc-of-pink-clove-brand-new-plus-size.html

In my original write up I told you I fell in love with the typography dress - and now I have seen it, felt it and seen the cut of it, I want it even more. This is most definitely a dress I need in my life.

The Event

The event was held in the prestigious Hush restaurant in Mayfair. Located in Lancashire Court it had a beautiful setting and the private dining room did not disappoint.

When we arrived we were greeted by the Pink Clove PR team and a pink Bellini (YUM!) and invited to take a look at the clothes. There were 3 racks of clothes, broken down into different sections to showcase the range of Pink Clove clothing. After that we had a sit down 3 course meal and a chance to chat with the rest of the bloggers. There were 10 of us there in total and it was really nice to put names to faces I have seen online and read the blogs of.

The Dinner

Unsuprisingly for a Mayfair restuarant - the food was amazing! There was a really nice selection of food which meant that there was something to suit everyone. I opted for the pulled pork and yorkshire pudding starter, fishcake main and a treacle sponge for dessert - all delicious!

The Clothes

What can I say? The range of clothes is small(ish!), but perfectly formed! Seeing as Pink Clove are a brand new brand it is no surprise that they don't have quite as many offerings as some of the big game players in the plus size market. I just hope that in time they'll be able to expand because the items that they have do seem amazing. (I'd love to see a Pink Clove range of accessories and shoes - but maybe I am just being a bit greedy!)

The brand has something to cater for everyone - from pretty skirts to logo tshirts and from smart jackets to floral dresses - it has it all!

The clothes on the rails were all a size 16 but were definitely generous fittings. The top sizes come in 26/28 and 30/32 but judging by what I have seen so far, they'll be a great fit! The clothes were high quality and stretched without ruining the look of the piece, which is always a bonus!

What I Liked Best

What I liked best is that some of the most striking patterns in the collection were used in more than one piece. It can be annoying when you see a pattern in a skirt you like, but you know you would prefer it in a dress. It seems that Pink Clove have tried to fix this problem by having patterns repeated across items - what a great idea!

Home Time

When we left we were sent home with a lovely goody bag and a gorgeous cupcake - what lucky girls!

This morning I have placed an order for the typography dress, I knew I wouldn't be able to resist for long! I also have my eye on the tartan dress too, might have to use my birthday at the end of September as an excuse to treat myself! ;)

Have you bought anything from the site yet? Or browsed it?

What are your favourite pieces?
