Topsy Curvy Christmas Swing Dress

You have probably noticed this, the Christmas jumper has had to take a step back this year in favour of the Christmas swing dress. I don't know about you but my Facebook newsfeed has been full of people advertising and sharing their purchases of an array of Christmas dresses!

I loved them all, except the fact that they all stopped at a size 24. I love the idea of a bit of Christmas jazz but I wasn't keen on wearing a dress that was too small. On Facebook chat groups I saw that I wasn't alone in this feeling - another time when size 24+ plus size women were left out!

As ever, those beautiful ladies at Topsy Curvy listened and did what they could to tell. Less than 2 weeks later this gem dropped through my letterbox - how exciting!  This swing dress by Topsy Curvy goes right up to a size 28/30 and as you can see on me, it's pretty generous!

I love the exciting pattern on this dress, with its Christmas trees, Santa's and decorations. I actually also really like the fact it's on a darker material with a brighter pattern which I think helps it stand out fro the rest. The long sleeves also make it perfect for this time of year.

I really love Topsy Curvy for pushing the boundaries and listening to their customer base to try and deliver more. They have a whole host of Christmas dresses so make sure you head to their website and see if anything takes your fancy! Use the code 'CurvyChristmas' to get two for £25 - bargain! I think they have sold out of this exact print now, but they lots of other plus size Xmas dress options!

A Plus Size Sprinkle of Glitter

A few weeks ago I saw my social media explode with the release of the Sprinkle of Glitter Simply Be range. I don't know where I have been living lately but I have to say that Sprinkle of Glitter is a blogger that I hadn't heard of before. Of course, I have since read up on her blog and it's great!

As ever, I was a little apprehensive to look at the range because I wasn't sure what sizes would be available. As a size 30/32 I (sad to say) am used to being left out of ranges or having limited options. I was really excited to see all of the items available in all sizes - YAY!

Last week I went to London to catch up with friends and a group of them had bought me the this lovely printed flower dress for my birthday. I was so excited! I don't usually notice material on dresses because I am too excited by patterns and colour, but I did notice that this was a lovely thick material and it felt like high quality.... .

However perhaps one of the most exciting things about this dress is that THE BELT FIT!! If you're a plus size clothes wearer you'll know that belts with dresses often don't quite work out.

So anyway,on to the dress. I love the pattern of this dress, the floral is beautiful. Size wise I am wearing a 32. I could easily have sized down once on the bust, maybe twice. It's a lovely generous size and the material has a little bit of stretch.

Have you looked at the Sprinkle of Glitter range? What is your favourite item?

Walking Smack Bang Into A Plus Size Fashion Find

Seeing as today is my first day off work in what seems like forever I thought I would have a look at buying something to wear to The Curve Fashion Festival next weekend - nothing like leaving it to the last minute eh?

I tried all my usual outlets but nothing seemed quite right. I thought I'd try outside of the box and go for something different. I had seen Interrobang Art & Fashion mentioned on social media before but never paid much attention.

When I had a proper look today the first thing I noticed on their Etsy page was that they had such a range of items. Clothing patterns, plain colours, films and much more - it was lovely to see such an array of choices.

However perhaps more importantly was their size range. I was literally over the moon (OK, maybe not literally) to see that their items went from a size 6 to a size 36.

I get excited when I can buy usual prints in my size, but it excites me even more when I can see that pretty much everyone can wear the items on offer. It's so rare to see such an offering that I had to write about it straight away! This is exactly what I want to see from retailers especially those who claim #plusisequal #stylehasnosize etc. This lady has been quietly doing what we wanted all along and that is something that needs to be celebrated!

I have messaged her to see if she can get me a skirt in time for Curve Fashion Festival. Either way I'll be buying an item so expect a proper review soon - I just couldn't wear to share it with you all!

What is your favourite item of theirs?

A New Look At Savvy Plus Size Shopping

A couple of weeks ago I discovered that my local New Look still had an Inspire section. To be honest I rarely look for clothing on the high street so I just assumed that it would have disappeared when I heard that they had gotten rid of so many. However, I was happily surprised to discover it's still there!

On pay day I popped into do some shopping before work and I am so glad that I did. For starters they had an amazing sale on which meant I came away with 2 dresses, a top and a pair of shoes for £21 - now that's enough to make anyone happy! On top of that, despite the signage saying up to size 26 I picked up a top in a 32 and a dress in a 28. It might sound like such a small thing, but buying affordable clothing in my size ON THE HIGH STREET really did make me very happy!

I managed to pick up this beautiful dress for the 'hefty' price tag of £7! It's a really nice material which clings to my body and gives me a shape that I enjoy. I'm wearing this in a size 28. It's a big clingy so it does ride up a little - hence the wise decision to wear leggings! The shoes were £3 in the New Look sale too - YAY!

Now as you know I am a fan of belts to give me a shape - I couldn't fit a belt I liked so instead I improvised. You can't see it in the photos but around my 'waist' I have the strap of a handbag wrapped around me in a belt style. It's nice and tight so I really like what it does to my body. Before I started really plus size blogs I probably wouldn't have improvised in that way before but I am glad that I did.

I can't find the dress on the website, but they have loads of stuff in their sale so it's well worth a browse.

What's been your best bargain lately?

Twos Company: Lady Voluptuous

A couple of weeks ago Lady Voluptuous announced their newest dress addition - The Ursula!

I loved the wiggle style dress straight away and knew it was a cut I would be really keen on. The patterns are so lovely too, which makes it a firm favourite of mine.

They sent me a couple to try and asked me to keep my fave... Can you guess which one it was?

I actually like both of the prints and think that they would be at home at different style events. I like that there are dark and light patterns similar to each other, to help ensure that there is something for everyone.

As you can see the dress worked fine on me, even though I am much shorter than Georgina. However, I think with this type of dress you can get away with shorter and longer lengths so that's just fine. I found the size to be similar to the Bellatrix, nicely fitted and I love the short sleeves.

BUT - Which one do you think I kept?

I kept the black simply because I loved the bright floral pattern against the black background. However not one to play by the rules I found a new way to wear it too - don't you just love a dress that is versatile?

Feeling Blue at Prom - A Scarlett & Jo Review

I have written, tweeted, instagramed and swooned over Scarlett & Jo very many times before - and to be honest with you, the chances are that I will do it again. Not only do Scarlett & Jo offer up a number of choices when it comes to clothing, but they actually listen to their customers. For example, they recognise that not everyone wears dresses so they now offer skirts and have recently launched a number of 'separates' items - great news! What I also love about Scarlett & Jo is  the support that they show bloggers - from dresses designed for them to random packages arriving on doorsteps 'just because' they're a brand that really do what they can to please people! Of course, when you add on the fact that they offer pretty dresses up to a size 32, they're winners in my heart!

So anyway, a few weeks ago they sent me this Navy 2 in 1 Prom Dress to try and it's a winner. I love the fact that it is a navy material rather than black, which is fantastic! It gives it something a bit different to the norm.

It has the now infamous thick elasticated waist that lots of the dresses and skirts from Scarlett & Jo now have. I love this because it brings everything in and gives it a nice shape - winner in my book.  As all of their prom dresses do, it has a slight netting underneath the skirt too which gives it a lovely lift.

The sizing is great and the top part of the dress being a thick, almost elasticated type material gives everything a really nice shape and feel. I wore this out to a local carnival the other day and it was comfortable to wear for the whole day. On that occasion I wore it with leggings, so it works as a dressed down look too!

Do you own anything from Scarlett & Jo? What are your favourite pieces?

P.S I have dreams of a 2 in 1 prom dress in a cherry print - how cute would that be?

Oh No, That's Far Too Small - A Topsy Curvy Review

Two blogs in a day - I'm on a roll, are you proud?

Another day, another blog post on Topsy Curvy! These girls really can do no wrong in my eyes. They're a brand that really listen and they're constantly expanding and offering more.

I was lucky enough to hang out with the gorgeous trio at The Curvy Convention a few weeks ago - where they featured on the catwalk and had a stall there too!

I had my eye on this dress on their rail and asked what sizes they had with them. The largest they had left (yes they sold lots) was a 20, so I was, of course, a bit disappointed. However, Jo knows me well and told me to try it on anyway. Now, she knows me and she knows her brand, but I was not convinced.

Despite believing it would have no chance of fitting, I put it on and it fit like a glove. The dress is designed to be more of a swing style but I am not a fan of swing dresses on my body so this suited me perfectly. I couldn't believe it  -  a size 20 dress on my body! (I think they have since rejigged the sizing on this one so speak to them before you order).

I love the pattern of this dress and the fact that it is long sleeved. It makes it a really unusual piece and something that I would wear again and again. I wore this with plain black leggings and shoes just for a day around the shops but you could easily style it much differently if you wanted to.

The Topsy Curvy girls are great at describing how things fit on their Facebook page as well as showing photos of people with different body shapes and sizes wearing their items, which makes the online shopping experience much easier!

That said, I do want to make a trip to their shop, it looks like it would be so much fun!

The Infamous Tess Dress - Yours Clothing

Ahhh... The Tess Dress!

I spotted this dress a few months ago when I headed to Birmingham to meet Tess Munster. In fact, you might remember that a group of us bloggers all wore this dress and posed for a photo with Tess! I loved the dress then but it only went up to a size 26. This meant it fitted but not quite as comfortably as I would have liked so I didn't buy it :(

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I spotted it on their website right up to a size 32. I don't know when that snuck in but I was very happy! So, of course I bought it straight away.

The material of the dress is really nice and thick which means that it doesn't cling if that is something you are worried about. The thick material doesn't mean that it is too hot for summer though as the length is great and the sleeveless arms mean it is nice and cool. Yours now have this dress in a range of colours but for me it was always going to be about bright pink! It's currently £35 on their website (new customers can get £10 off by using the code Blogger18)

I love the dress and will more than likely snap up another in a different colour at some point!

Would you wear the Tess Dress?

Scarlett & Jo: Revisited

I have blogged about Scarlett & Jo before and to be honest, I have no doubt that I will blog about them again. Scarlett & Jo are a brand that sell exclusively at Evans. One of the things I love most about the range is that ALL of their items go up to a size 32. They don't pick and choose what they think different customers of different sizes want - instead everything is available in all the sizes - such a revelation!

Over recent months they have bought some some beautiful dresses and skirts. They have definitely found a look that works for them - and it's safe to say, I am a fan! They're also big supporters of the blogging industry which is really nice to see.

A couple of weeks ago they sent me this beautiful dress which are far as I can see is not on the website yet. I wore it quite casual just out for dinner but it definitely has potential to be styled up and worn with more glamour.

As usual with Scarlet & Jo items, it's a fantastic fit and really high quality. Whenever I get items from this range I am always pleased with the look and feel of the material of the items - they never disappoint!

Head over to the Scarlett & Jo website today and have a look at their range. What do you have your eyes on?

Double Floral Pattern - Cute as a Bunny

I am just back from spending a long weekend in London, and it was brilliant! I wore some lovely new outfits, so expect some outfit posts coming up over the next few days.

On my actual birthday I headed into Soho to a new eating place there called Bunny Chow. The actual venue isn't open yet, but they're doing some sneak previews and trials and invited me down to sample their goods with Lucia from U Can't Wear That and boy, I am glad that I went!

Bunny Chow is a type of food that takes its inspiration from South Africa. They have a range of food items on their menu, which are served in a bread roll - YUM! I went for the haddock in a white sauce choice and it was delicious... not only is the food nice, but you get to eat your bowl afterwards so no washing up for anyone - WOOP!

They do desserts of fruit salads inside an apple too, genius!

Back To The Outfit

A few days before I left for London ASOS announced a flash sale of 20% off full price items and I for one can't resist a bargain. I went for this mixed floral printer skater dress which was just £20 and I am so glad that I did.

Bag - New Look via ASOS Curve
Shoes - Primark (old stock)

The skater dress is a lovely fit and the perfect length for me (it would be great for taller people too as I wear the waist of the dress quite high). I love the idea of the two different patterns and the sleeves are a great length too! The Tuesday in London was a lovely sunny day and it was amazing to feel a bit of sunshine for once!

Me outside Bunny Chow with a lovely lemon muffin they sent me home with - YUM!

Have you bought from ASOS lately? What bargain did you snap up?

Maxi-mum Summer Loving!

Just a short post today about this lovely dress I picked up from Yours Clothing at the weekend. I was in Derby this weekend and so paid a visit to the Yours Store at Westfields there (it's lovely - more about that later). They had this BEAUTIFUL maxi dress in store and now it's mine!

The Purple and Green Tropical Print maxi dress is £35 on the website or in store and is available right up to a size 36 - amazing! It is a little long for me, but I quite like that long gyspy/boho look anyway. It also means that it would be suitable for someone taller than me too (which is likely to be most of you!).

I am quite new to the whole maxi dress trend, but I am really loving it! I now want all the maxi dresses! Yours Clothing have some really lovely ones and even though I have said it once and I will no doubt say it again, it is SO pleasing to see them do pretty dresses up to a size 36! As far as I know there isn't a fashion retailer in the UK doing such an affordable range like this and I only hope it continues to grow.

Remember If you're new to Yours Clothing you can use my Blogger18 code to get £10 off of a £20 spend.

What dresses are you loving this summer?

Wild Horses

You might remember a few months ago that I blogged a So Fabulous wish list, of items I would love to try. I hadn't yet tried anything from Very but I did this post http://www.wannabeprincess.co.uk/2013/08/so-so-so-fabulous.html on what I liked from their range - including a lovely horse print dress!

As window shopping often does, these remained in wish-list state and I never got around to trying them!

A few weeks ago Naomi from Diamonds N Pearls sold a few dresses on Facebook and this one popped up. I bought it as I loved the print and then remembered how much it was like the one I blogged in my wishlist!

I can't find any links to buy this online as it is old stock, so I realise that it is quite unhelpful. However the dress is a little different for me and so I wanted to share it.

I quite like the contrast of long sleeves and legs out. I don't often wear sleeves but it really suits this dress. It was quite warm to wear as it is a thick material but that makes it perfect for cooler days!

Shoes are a £6 Primark bargain - their wide fit shoe range is amazing at the moment!

Do you own any dresses that are a little different to what you normally wear?

Pink To Make The Boys Wink

There is a possibility I have used that title before - oops! Anyway, have you seen the latest offerings by Pink Clove? I blogged a few weeks back about their new items and they seem to be just going from strength to strength! One thing I love about Pink Clove is their bold colours and the fact that aren't afraid to use bright prints and patterns - Well Done Pink Clove!

They offered to send me an item from their new collection and of course, I chose the brightest dress that I could - the Sweet Heart Neckline Pink Skater Dress. It's quite a thick material but I like that because it pulls you in a little and feels supportive. I wore this to see McBusted last week and it was so comfortable to wear all day!

They also have a similar dress without the sweet heart neck line if that is a style you would prefer. They also have both types of dresses in a range of colours (including a gorgeous rush orange colour) all for under £25 each.

It feels like great quality and washed well when I put it through a wash. It is a great fit and pretty much spot on for sizing I would say!

Of course I couldn't resist teaming it up with my pink Black Heart Creatives necklace, which I think matches perfectly!

Have you bought anything from the new Pink Clove range?

A Look At Just Curvy

As you know, I love discovering new places I can shop - it;s so exciting! I have browsed the Just Curvy website before but as they 'only' go up to a size 26 I didn't really consider shopping there! A few weeks ago the team at Just Curvy offered to send me a dress from their site, so I thought I would give it a try, after all we all know the importance of ignoring dress size labels!

I was amazed at the range of dresses they have, they have some really lovely items! If you're under a size 26 I would recommend them! As someone above that size I had to be careful what I bought - you have to pay attention to material etc to see what you can work with. In the end I choose this lovely blue dress and it's fab!

Turquoise Scoop Neck Floral Lace Pattern Swing Dress

It is a swing dress, although I do lose the swing effect as it is a little small and fitted on me. That said, I love the fit and I don't mind losing out on the swing affect at all! It's a really lovely vibrant colour and it fits fine.

They have this dress is a range of colours and even slightly different styles so if you're after a lace, swing dress then make sure you check them out.

Have you tried Just Curvy before?

A Meshy Night Out With Friends

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely team at New Look gave me the chance to choose a couple of items from the Inspire range. You may remember the first item I received, the pink tartan dress. The other dress I chose I saved for last Saturday, which was my leaving do for moving away from London. I chose this Inspire Teal Floral Mesh Panel Dress and I love it!

I can't believe that I managed to pick up the dress for the bargain price of £8.00! I actually picked this up at the Tottenham Court Road store and it's showing up as out of stock on the website at the moment, but please keep your eye out for it!

Believe it or not, I am wearing a size 24 dress... The elasticated underbust is VERY stretchy, I could have gotten away with a 22 just as easily. I have to say that this dress is a little different to what I usually wear but I love it! I love that it's from Inspire, which is doing more and more items all of the time - which is only ever a positive thing!

You might notice that my hair looks a little different in the photos. I actually had a hairpiece fitted and made (it's clip in) by the very talented Campbell Wigs... a full review of that will be coming next week, but make sure you check out their page!

As you can see, it was a brilliant night!

Have you shopped at Inspire lately? What caught your eye?
