Rediscovering Navabi

I have a few days off work and that always leads to more social media browsing and window shopping. Today I saw a few tweets mentioning plus size brand Navabi and thought I would head over to their website. I'll be honest I thought I would just be browsing and lusting over items I was missing out on - because in my head I was sure they went up to a size 28!

When I started looking at items I realised that they did up to a size 32 and so I thought I would share it with you all! For me, discovering brands that do over a size 28 is fantastic and something I'd always share.

Navabi have a really good range of items. I have read loads of reviews from different bloggers and have heard nothing good about the quality of the items on the website - which is always a good thing. Some of the items have a more mature look about them than I would usually wear, but I still feel the importance of sharing retailers that do larger size items! Also, I have seen lot of these items styled amazingly which just goes to show you can make anything work for you!

Some of the dresses available in my size that I really liked are:

I have to give a special shout out to this BEAUTIFUL dress; which would be perfect for a glitzy, glam event! This type of dress is SO HARD to find in top end plus sizes so I love Navabi for doing this UP TO A SIZE 32!!

I love discovering new brands and realising I have more shopping options! If you have any hidden gem shopping recommendations please share them with me :D

I have updated Navabi on
my list of plus size retailers, because I didn't realise they did up to a size 32 - if there's any brands so I should add, give me a shout!

Still Paying Attention To Clothes Sizes? That's A Silly Old (Sea Dog) Mistake - Plus Size Clothing Options

I have blogged about my lust of Silly Old Sea Dog dresses before - because when they announced their plus size clothing options last year I got very excited!

At the time they did up to a size 28 and I believe at the moment they do up to a size 24 (with some choices up to a sze 28), with options to have dresses made in your size! I know, I would love to have more size options but I do recognise that often with independent brands it takes time to build up to that! You can even choose your skirt length to ensure that you get a dress perfect for you.

A few weeks ago the lovely team at Silly Old Sea Dog offered to send me one of their dresses in a size 28. I hadn't tried one of their dresses before, mainly because it's a lot of money to spend on a dress that isn't my size and I am not sure would fit.

They sent me this lovely Winter Wonderland dress and I love it. One of the things I like best about the dress is the unusual pattern. I love that plus size fashion options are expanding (no pun intended) but having something which not many others are going to own is great - especially when you attend a lot of plus size events and have a fear of someone else turning up in what you're wearing!

The dress is a little more expensive than I would usually spend, but that said you can feel the difference in quality. The material is sturdy but with a bit of stretch, so it holds you in and gives you plenty of support. I love how much material the skirt has, which gives it that real swishy effect.

It just goes to show, once again that you CAN ignore clothing labels and try items on - you might just be surprised at how well they fit!

Silly Old Sea Dog have an amazing range of dresses with some really fun, retro style prints. I love their range of patterns and dress shapes, it feels like there would be something for everyone.

BBW Couture - Don't Mind If I Do

I am really excited to say that I have another plus size brand to introduce to you all. These guys have done well with their social media pages, so you might have come across them already! Please welcome, BBW Couture to the world of Plus Size Fashion.

They do a range of affordable dresses and other items up to a size 32. As ever I would love it if they did more up to a size 32 but lots of their items do seem to go as far as a 28 which is a great start. I mean even have to try one of their vintage styles in a size 28 to see if I can make it work for me!

They kindly sent me a dress to try in a size 28 and I am impressed. The sizing is great and fits me just fine. I actually quite like the wrap effect and the length is great, perfect for wearing with or without leggings!

I really like this Black, White & Pink Check Cross Over Dress because it is a pattern that is a little different. I have worn this out a couple of times and people often comment how much they like it. At only £19.99 it is really affordable too!

The quality of the material feels great and because of the price tag, you get fantastic value for money. They have some beautiful vintage style dresses on their site which would be very welcome in my wardrobe too! I have a beige vest undermine because I wore it during the day and didn't want too much cleavage showing, but it was equally fine without. It'd look great with leggings too!

Have you tried BBW Couture yet? What items have you got your eye on?

On a separate note I recently came across a website (VoucherBin.co.uk) for getting discounts and vouchers. Looks like it could be a money saver so well worth it. Find out more here.

Good Golly Miss Polly - Introducing Polly Grace

As you have probably seen from previous posts, I always get excited when I hear about a new plus size fashion option being released. Often I am let own because size ranges stop at a size 24 or the items released are the same items on sale by different retailers... I saw a few people tweet about Polly Grace a few weeks ago and thought I would head over to their website to have a browse. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have since learnt that the retailer are actually only a few weeks old so they really are brand new! They offer fashion options in sizes 16 to 32 and items are all things I haven't seen before. I would say that I would love to see more of their range go up to a size 32, but I appreciate that that they are new and that things take time.

That said, they sent me this glorious dress (The Katrina in multi tropical print) in a size 28 and it fits perfectly. Another reminder that we shouldn't always listen to clothes sizes and instead try things on our body. As you can see the dress has a really lovely pattern on it, perfect for summer. It comes mid calf length on me which is great for people who like a bit of coverage on their legs for summer. It's a lovely light weight material too.

You might have seen on my Facebook or Twitter that I wore this to the cinema the other night with a plain black cardigan. It really worked as a casual piece and I have no doubt it could be dressed up too!

I tried some Polly Grace leggings too and they were great quality. Leggings are often hit and miss with sizing and I sized down too much so they didn't fit me as I would like. If you do try their leggings I would say to size down just once and they should fit you great. However, the quality of the material was great so I can't wait to buy some to try in my size.

Polly Grace might be brand new but they do look set to pack a punch when it comes to plus size clothing options! Have a browse of their website and see if anything catches your eye!

They've been mind enough to give me a discount code to give to you guys! Use wannabe20 at the checkout for 20% off - yay!

If you buy something don't forget to show me your pics, I love a good nosey!

My International Shopping Wish List

As much as plus size shopping in the UK is improving, there is always a case of wanting something that you can't have!

Personally I spend hours and hours browsing American clothing websites - because you know, I like to tease myself when it comes to items I can't get my hands on! Of course, you can shop abroad and most places will ship internationally but costs, customs and sizes differences have put me off so far. I definitely want to try a few items in 2015 though. These are some of the things I have my eye on!

Torrid

Chubby Cartwheels

To be honest this is just a really short look at the items I would quite like from abroad. As always with pretty dresses and skirts I could talk FOREVER on the subject!

What items do you have your eyes on?

Fuller Figure Choices for a Fuller Wardrobe

If you follow any plus size bloggers on social media then the chances are that you have heard of the new Lady V London collection launched today.

In case you haven't heard blogger Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust has teamed up once again with Lady V London to bring us vintage dresses. When the Estella came out in sizes up to a 32 I could have cried with happiness and I have raved many, many times about how much I liked them. When I saw that Lady Voluptuous was a COLLECTION of plus size dresses up to a size 32 I thought my heart would burst.

You can see all of the dresses all over social media and I will post some pics here, but I wanted to talk about what this collection means to me and perhaps others in my shoes.

When you are at the larger end of the plus size market you get used to being told that things aren't meant for you. You hear of celebrity plus size collections ending at size 26, because, you know anything above that is just TOO plus size for many minds to cope with. And then you get the 16-32 collections that have 25 items, where perhaps 3-4 of them actually go up to a 32. You get used to missing out and lusting over items that other plus size bodies have access to, but you miss out because you are "too fat".

When I went on the Lady V London website this afternoon the first thing I did was tick the '30/32' box to see how many of the 12 dresses were available to ME (selfish I know!)... Without sounding dramatic I was BESIDE MYSELF with joy when I realised that every single one of those dresses I COULD BUY!

No one had decided that pink was too bright for a body of my size or that I couldn't possibly need a body con clinging to my body. They made THEM ALL accessible to me... Every single last one of the beautifully made, patterned dresses I could get out my debit card and BUY! I can't tell you the feeling that gives me... I really can't put it into words!

I know, I am talking a lot about me and my needs but it really does go beyond that. As plus size women we are constantly told that our bodies shouldn't be dressed in a certain way. We're told by retailers that they haven't made clothes in our size because they are just NOT NEEDED! That only bloggers are brave enough to wear items like this and that if the demand was there they would make them.

Well.... Let me put this to you right now.

8 hours ago Lady V London released 12 dresses. Now only 10 of them are available in a size 30/32 because two of the patterns are sold out! There are NO OTHER sizes of ANY dress that are sold out... Just the largest size! Surely that speaks for itself? Out of the 10 dresses that are left in my size, 3 of them are already 'low stock'.... PEOPLE ARE BUYING THESE DRESSES!

I know, you could argue that they made less of them because the demand isn't there or any other of the many reasons why this has happened. But the fact of the matter is, however many of them they made they have sold them or are selling them fast. The demand is bigger than anyone thought and that is because plus size women do want these options, we just don't have them!

I know, this is quite a lengthy, ranty post for a set of 12 dresses but honestly, it feels like so much more to me. I love that Lady V London are a major brand in the world of vintage clothing and they have taken a risk, a leap of faith in us and our larger bodies. They have created dresses that no one else has, in sizes that other people haven't bothered to make yet.

Yes, the collection might not be for everyone and yes, there are probably styles, patterns, colours that you wouldn't want to wear but honestly this is a massive step forward when it comes plus size fashion. I, for one am SO excited to see what happens with this.

Which of the dresses is your favourite?

Making Dresses Work For You - The Gemma Collins Collection

A few weeks ago the lovely ladies behind The Gemma Collins Collection got it touch to see if I would like to try a dress. The Gemma Collins Collection is great for giving glitzy, glam clothing options to plus size ladies and for that it has to be applauded!

At the moment the The Gemma Collins Collection goes up to a size 26 (although I believe some of her options on places such as Simply Be go higher). When I spoke to the PR company I explained that their sizes wouldn't traditionally work for me, but that I would like to try them anyway! As you know, I am a big believer in working with what you have and ignoring clothing size labels! They were well up for working with me on the challenge and so sent me this little beauty in a size 24!

I really like the two sheer stripes at the bottom and think this gives the traditional little black dress something a bit extra!

I have to say that the quality of  this dress is fantastic. It's quite a thick material which has a good amount of stretch to it! The dress fits me OK, although it probably shows a little more flesh than I am willing to show because it comes up quite short. That said, if you were a size 26 you could easily make this size 24 dress work for you in a traditional way.

Now, the dress is such a lovely quality that I didn't want to give up on it! So.... Here's how I wore it!

I went to a 30th birthday celebration at the weekend and I decided that my Scarlett & Jo skirt would love to attend with me. So, I teamed it up with the dress. As the dress is a tight fit I think it looks great, especially because it is such a thick sturdy material so pulls me all in and gives me a great shape.

So - there you have it. Never give up on a dress just because you think it won't fit!

The Gemma Collins Collection has some great Valentines dresses so make sure you check out her range!

Christmas Day With Scarlett & Jo and ASOS Curve

How was your Christmas? I hope you all had a brilliant one, I did!

Christmas in my household is always quite a quiet affair, but that's just the way we like it! It's been a lovely few days at home and now I am looking forward to travelling to Stafford for New Years with lots of friends!

Even though Christmas is reasonably quiet I love to get dressed up! Everyone in my house loves Christmas so we all get dressed up, have an epic dinner and spend the evening playing board games. I honestly can't think of a way I would rather spend the day.

Just before Christmas Scarlett & Jo sent me one of their newest dresses and I thought it would be perfect for Christmas. I love the blue colours in the kimono and knew it would be perfect to dress up with a bit of bling.

The Scarlett & Jo Multicoloured Floral Kimono With Black Dress is quite a grown up dress, but it;s lovely and I feel could be dressed in lots of different ways. The black dress underneath fits well too!

As it was on the day I felt that a plain black dress underneath was a bit plain, so I actually teamed up the kimono with a black dress I picked up in the ASOS Curve sale a few days before. The dress itself is lovely but I wanted to dress it up a bit for Christmas - after all, if you can't dress up at Christmas when can you?

One of the best things about the kimono dress from Scarlett & Jo is that although the kimono is attached, it is done so by poppers. This means that you can remove it and mix and match items. I love versatile pieces like this, so it's a definite plus point for me!

What did you get up to this Christmas?

House of Fraser: Plus Size Saviour?

I am always pleased to hear about plus size options, so House of Fraser offering plus size clothing is fantastic news to me! Actually House of Fraser and their plus size collection is nothing new, but it seems that their offerings have really improved over recent months.

In October I had the chance to try House of Fraser for myself and I was pleasantly surprised by their offerings. I would say that they're not exactly breaking boundaries - because they're offering items that are already on sale by other brands. However, the chance to buy from a range of brands in one place is always good for me. Brands you can buy from include: Evans (including Scarlett and Jo), Taking Shape, Samya, Juna Rose and much more!

They had a good sale on when I went too - and most of you will know I am quite the bargain hunter! They also do right up to a size 30, which is another bonus.

I chose this Spotted Skater Dress from Evans

I love the fact that it is only £20 too! For me the fit is perfect and the pockets are a nice addition. Its a really nice material which makes it nice to wear in colder weather. I teamed it up with leggings but the length meant I could have easily worn it without too.

Have you bought anything from the House of Fraser Plus Size Collection?

Kimono: Old Style New Look

Kimonos are nothing new, they have been around for a number of years. However this season that are as fashionistas would say 'bang on trend'. I am so pleased that so many plus size retailers are taking this on board and providing plenty of choice! I have a few of them and they are definitely fast becoming a staple diet of my wardrobe.

One brand that seem to be doing this quite well at the moment is New Look, who have plenty of in stock online and in store. They recently sent me a lovely grey kimono which I really love. I wanted it because lots of the kimonos around at the moment seem to be big, bold, brightly coloured patterns.

Normally I wouldn't be one to shy away from a bit of colour, but when you have a bright coloured pattern dress it is hard to team this with another bright, colour pattern - which is where this grey kimono is so perfect! The grey kimono I have doesn't seem to be on the website any more, but they have loads of nice tops and kimonos from the Inspire range so make sure you check them out! I haven't included outfit pics of this because it isn't available any more but there are so many good alternatives.

A glimpse of the grey kimono - such a lovely colour

For Plus North, I wore my trusty Yours Clothing kimono, which has become a firm favourite of mine. I teamed it up with this amazing Topsy Curvy t-shirt, which I have practically lived in since they sent it to me.

Topsy Curvy are a brand that actually listen to their customers, which for me is amazing! They know that the larger end of plus size is often under-catered for and so are trying to push out new products, including this t shirt which they stock right up to a size 36!

I have also worn this kimono with an amazing maxi dress I got from New Look a few weeks ago and this has fast become one of my favourite outfits. As is so often the case with New Look dresses, I found this maxi dress to be a generous size.

One thing I have become more used to recently is mixing and matching brands. Each brand has something different to offer, so matching a plain Topsy Curvy top with a bright Yours Clothing kimono or a plain New Look kimono with a bright ASOS dress is fine!

What is your go-to item at the moment?

Large Lady V London

A very quick, excitable post today because Lady V London have unveiled their new Estella dresses. I do promise to do a much more in-depth post soon - and a review of a dress once I have bought one! I don't know much about the range, but it is so exciting that I had to write about it - like a child who has just been promised a new toy! WOO!

There are 8 different prints in the same style dress, all available from a size 14 to a size 32 - amazing!

However, I wanted to share this today because I think it's so exciting! I don't know much about vintage fashion but I do know that plus size ranges up to a size 32 are hard enough to find, without something as exciting as this!

The dresses were designed with the help of Georgina at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust and they're honestly beautiful... as you can see!

I have three favourites - the two birdcage prints and the turquoise floral.

However if I had a spare £400 knocking about (and I hadn't already spent it on the ASOS sale) I would probably want to snap up all 8 of the dresses, they're just lovely!

I hope to buy one of these soon and then find a special occasion to wear it to!

Which of the dresses is your favourite?

Going Koko For A New Dress

Teeny tiny post today just to show you my new dress. I actually picked it up on sale from Simply Be for £11 a few weeks ago! It's from the Koko brand which I had never tried before, so picking the dress up for a bargain price was perfect. I also wanted to show you that sales are worth paying attention to. I often assume that sale stuff is what's left so there will be nothing good, but this dress proved me wrong!

Koko Zig Zig Print Dress (now back up to £17!)

Simply Be often have good sales so they are well worth paying attention to!

Shop Your Stash: Recycling Dresses

Last weekend I had a night out in Birmingham with lots of my favourite people and it was fab. I always get excited for weekends away with a night out as it feels like more of a special occasion.

What I didn't know was, what to wear! Unlike when I am at home - when I am stuck in a hotel room I have to go with what I have rather than being able to go through my wardrobe to find stuff!

I took two dresses with me, a new one from Simply Be(post coming soon) and this lovely one from Pink Clove. I actually picked this dress up from Pink Clove in the sale months ago for something silly like £8! I haven't worn it much so it was nice to give it the outing it deserves.

I absolutely fall into the trap of 'needing' a new dress for every single night out... But I have to try and change that! Now that I don't live in London I am travelling to new places to see my friends (I am currently in Derby at Lucia from www.ucantwearthat.com's house). If I want to travel and see people I simply can't justify a new outfit every time... It's silly!

So I thought it would be perfect for a Shop Your Stash post, because I am too am having to learn my fashion limits!

How do you feel about re-wearing dresses to nights out?

OMCZ: Summer Loving

Last weekend I went shopping in Manchester with some bloggers (more about that later) and I bought this amazing dress from Yours Clothing! When I woke up the next day it was brilliant sunshine so it seemed the perfect excuse to put it on and go out and make the most of the weather, perfect for this weeks Outside My Comfort Zone post!

Theme - Summer Fun Day

It's getting warmer in the UK and it's nearly time for the Summer Fun Days to start. Whether it be your local village fun day, a school fayre or a party at a friend's house, I want to see your outfits for those days out soaking up the sun.

I went out and about with my mum and dad, had an ice-cream by the lake and even snuck into Primark for some more shopping - a good day all in all!

*Sunlight in my eyes is not ideal.. but look at the pretty dress!

I saw this dress on the website a week or so ago and I loved the pattern straight away. I am usually into big and bold colours but this dress was just too pretty to resist. When I saw it in store and they had it in my size, I knew it had to be mine!

Yours Clothing just seem to be doing so well when it comes to dresses lately, with so many cuts and patterns on there! I love browsing their new arrivals page and seeing what they have added.

I like the length of the dress as it isn't too long and I feel great wearing it without leggings. It's a nice thin material which is great for summer (if we ever get one that lasts more than a day!) and the gypsy style top makes it really flattering.

I know that this dress is going to play a big part in my summer wardrobe.

What do you like to wear when the weather is hot?
