The Nadia Aboulhosn Collection

So, you may have seen over recent weeks that legendary blogger Nadia Aboulhosn teamed up with Boohoo to bring out a capsule collection of clothing. My first thoughts were WOW! The collection is young, edgy and in my eyes a welcome addition to the world of plus size fashion. My second thoughts were that it was a shame that the collection only went up to a size 24. I lust over many items on Boohoo and I can only hope (and pray!) that one day they extend their collection to be more suitable to me and people my size.

The generous people at Boohoo allowed me to pick an item from the collection to try. There are SO many items I wanted but I had to be sensible. I knew that the items would come up 3-4 sizes too small for me, so I had to be clever and get an item that worked for me.

So, I went for this white embossed sleeve hoodie. Now, I know it is not the most exciting item from the collection but actually it really works for me. It is a thickish material but also quite lightweight, so I am finding it perfect for this weather. I love the almost oversized feel and it is an item that I have gotten quite a lot of use out of in the few weeks I have had it!

That said, if you're a size 24 or smaller then I know that there is going to be something perfect for you, so make sure you head over to the website and browse the collection.

What do you have your eyes on?

Checker Board Chic: A Topsy Curvy Review

A couple of days ago I blogged about a lovely blazer from Topsy Curvy. Now I bring to you another item that they also stock up to a size 32. As you know I have waxed lyrical about the size range that Topsy Curvy offer - for a small independent brand, they do plus size fashion SO well!

I really love this checked top from Topsy Curvy (that they sell in a number of colours by the way). The length of it means that you don't have to worry about it riding up and you having a gap between the top of your trousers/skirt and your top.

It's a thick, waffle like material - though there is probably a better way to describe it! It's a really nice item to wear and I think could be styled in lots of ways. I wore it with jeans the other day, although I failed to snap any pics (bad blogger).

Topsy Curvy are getting some really nice items in, right up to a size 32. Head over their website and have a browse. What do you have your eyes on?

Scarlett & Jo: Revisited

I have blogged about Scarlett & Jo before and to be honest, I have no doubt that I will blog about them again. Scarlett & Jo are a brand that sell exclusively at Evans. One of the things I love most about the range is that ALL of their items go up to a size 32. They don't pick and choose what they think different customers of different sizes want - instead everything is available in all the sizes - such a revelation!

Over recent months they have bought some some beautiful dresses and skirts. They have definitely found a look that works for them - and it's safe to say, I am a fan! They're also big supporters of the blogging industry which is really nice to see.

A couple of weeks ago they sent me this beautiful dress which are far as I can see is not on the website yet. I wore it quite casual just out for dinner but it definitely has potential to be styled up and worn with more glamour.

As usual with Scarlet & Jo items, it's a fantastic fit and really high quality. Whenever I get items from this range I am always pleased with the look and feel of the material of the items - they never disappoint!

Head over to the Scarlett & Jo website today and have a look at their range. What do you have your eyes on?

Dress To Impress

Dress to Impress and make a Statement in the Process
There is an old saying that tells us you only ever get one chance to make a first impression, and this is particularly true when you enter the dating market. Getting to know someone online is all part of the dance these days, and that’s a good thing for both sides, but when the first actual meeting takes place it’s cards on the table time.
Even those people who have been meeting guys and girls for a number of years will still get those all too familiar butterflies as the big moment approaches. This is the time when the waiting is finally over. You may have charmed someone on the web for a number of weeks, but how will you continue that momentum in person?
You will hear plenty of advice about being yourself, acting naturally and not trying too hard, but it may not be easy to remember all of this in the heat of the moment. Just before that meeting, be sure to take a deep breath and to think – and talk – slowly. If you are anxious, you may start babbling like a nervy chatterbox, and that won’t help.
Concentrate more on what you say than how you look
Unless your date is a particularly shallow person, he or she will be more impressed by the things you say than the way you look, but of course your appearance will still have a bearing on the success of the meeting. That’s why it’s vital to remember to dress for the occasion and the venue. Remember this when you’re picking an outfit.
Sometimes it doesn’t help if you look too perfect. Your date is looking to meet a person, not a china doll, so make an effort but don’t get overly obsessed about it. Using a high quality skin product like Proactiv is a good idea, because a top class complexion will always get you noticed. Take care to look good but natural as well.
It doesn’t matter if you are a total novice or someone who goes on dates all the time, you need to work at it from the start. The web has made things easier for us in many ways, of course, but it may perhaps have taken a little of the wow factor away from a first date. The benefits are greater than the drawbacks, however.

It may not be possible to always make the perfect impression, but there are of course times when everything seems to go just right. The dating scene in the UK is much the same as it is anywhere else, so good advice applies no matter where you live. The most important thing is to have fun, so go and enjoy it!
What top tips would you like to share for looking and feeling amazing?

It's A Tulle Order with H&M

My name is Debz and I have an obsession with online window shopping...

As part of my obsession I tend to browse different websites and see what they have on offer. I have browsed the H&M website a good few times, but never found anything to buy. I have to say that I H&M do have a good few plus size items and are perhaps over looked a little. I have heard that their sizes can be hit and miss and delivery can take a while (this took 10 days) but they are still worth a browse.... If only more of their high street stores had their plus collection in!

A few weeks ago I was doing one of my regular window shops of H&M when I came across this amazing tulle skirt. To many people this probably doesn't seem like much of a revolution, but this type of skirt in my size just doesn't come about every single day!

I ordered the skirt and sat at home with fingers crossed that it fitted. When it finally arrived I was so relieved that it fits LIKE A DREAM! Often with skirts and dresses like this the layer underneath which is made from a silk like material and therefore has no stretch. I am pleased to say that this H&M tulle skirt comes with a jersey layer underneath which fits lovely.

It is sold out in the 3XL now (the size I am wearing) but I am sure a 2XL would have fit too. The stretch is really generous.

Also wearing an #Amaze top from Evans and a lovely floral blaze from New Look.

It's once again taught me to try new things and that as a plus size woman, I do still have fashion options. I agree that sometimes items can be harder to find but if you keep your eyes open, and window shop online at every opportunity you will find whatever it is you are looking for!

Have you shopped at H&M? What were your experiences?

Christmas at Boohoo Giveaway

I have spoken before about my love of Boohoo and the items that they offer. I honestly  pray for the day when they extend their range up past a 24 - and I know so many people who feel the same!

You only have to look at their new arrivals page to see that they are offering some fantastic pieces. I love that they offer items that are different, on trend and at a price that is affordable. I'd love to be able to try out more pieces, so if they ever go past a size 24 you can guarantee more items to pop up on this page. That said their plus size collection runs from a size 16 to a size 24 so it isn't all bad.

This week they contacted me to give one of you lucky people the chance to try an item from their collection. Simply enter the raffle copter give away below and the winner will get to pick an item to be sent to them.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The competition will run until the 10th December. I will get in touch with the winner ASAP for their address details, item choice and what size they want. Boohoo will send the item direct to the winner. No alternatives etc etc.

Good luck!

Pink Clove: Here's What I Would Have Spent

When Pink Clove launched last year with an array of tartan dresses, print tops and leggings that went up to a size 32 I was one of the first to sing their praises from the roof tops! I love the fact that they offered fast, fashion in sizes right up to a size 32.

Slowly I started to notice that their new arrivals would shrink quite considerably when I ticked the 30/32 box to see what was available. To me it was such a shame that a range that started so well went down hill. I understand there are probably some restrictions as to what they can offer & that some 30/32 options is better than none - but I'd love to see more!

Today I thought I would head to the Pink Clove website to see what they were saying... Firstly they had this AMAZING dress in a size 32 which made me very happy, it's an item I'll be adding to my wardrobe for sure!

Seeing this in my size spurred me on to see what else was available. Their New Arrivals page is pretty exciting at the moment and I love seeing these plus size options. Sadly as soon as I tick my size I go down from 18 pages of available items to get 8... Which if you ask me, is a massive shame.

I feel like we need to start letting retailers know what we would buy, if they would give us the option. After all, they're not going to start stocking it until they know the demand is there!

So... Pink Clove, Here's What I Would Have Spent!

I really feel that alot of this is great for plus size fashion... Extend the sizes offered and I'd be even happier! Keep up the good work Pink Clove, but do what you can to make a fat girl happy please ;)

Scarlett and Jo - A Splash of Colour for Winter!

It is probably quite obvious but when it comes to clothing, I love nothing more than a bit of colour! I know winter is supposed to be about browns, purples and darker colours but I have never been one for breaking the rules!

I have had my eye on the Scarlett and Jo items for a few months now, but never taken the leap to buy one because I wasn't sure how they would fit on me. As you know a few weeks ago I spoke to one of the new Evans online Shape Stylists and Sarah gave me some great advice about them and so I bagged myself a bargain and bought this skirt in the sale.

I think it looks great worn in different way which is another thing I love about fashion - making it work for you!

What are your favourite items for winter?

Happy Birthday To Me!

While I was in London I celebrated my birthday by having dinner with friends in Wahaca in Angel - which was amazing and lovely!

I wore an ASOS dress which has fast become one of my favourites. Unfortunately I was too busy having a good time and drinking passion fruit mojiotos to take any proper outfit pictures, but here are a couple I took of the night and a quick, cheeky bathroom selfie so you can see a bit of the dress.

It is the same dress I blogged here, except it is in a different pattern. I love the dress & the fit though, I really can't recommend it enough!

In other news I have been using a hair treatment on my hair and it's really improved the condition of it. The lovely team over at Old Wives Tail sent it to me a few weeks ago and I really love the conditioner makes my hair feel. I have to admit to being quite lazy when it comes to hair products etc. so I never want to use anything that is too fiddly.

I've been putting their Argan & Rosemary Organic Oil Treatment on wet hair and then washing it out an hour or so later. It is quite tricky to wash out because it's oil based but it's well worth it for the shine and feel of my hair afterwards. They actually stock a range of products for hair, so it's worth seeing what they have to suit you. I was lucky enough to be gifted the item (but my opinion is still honest) but their prices seem pretty reasonable anyway!

The Lady Who Went To Tea Featuring Lady V London

You might remember a few months I wrote very excitedly about the Estella Dress by Lady V London, designed by Georgina at Fuller Figure, Fuller Bust. At my birthday celebrations earlier this week I could have cried with happiness when my friends presented me with a package that contained one of them! I am SO happy to say I am now a proud Estella Dress owner and it feels good!

This morning I ran a Macmillan Coffee Morning locally to me and I used it as an excuse to wear the dress out for the first time... Well tea and cake does go perfectly with a pretty dress like this. The dress fits perfectly and I love the shape it gives my body.

I had to wear a vest to underneath to protect my modesty and I would probably usually wear it with a cream or white best top but I don't think the black top looks bad at all! (On that note, I hear that  the new out Lady V London dresses have an improved fit with a stitch on the wrap part at the front so I would be interested to try it).

The material is a lot thicker than I expected but not in a way that makes it too hot or too stiff to wear. It doesn't have much stretch but that does mean that it 'brings you in' and I love the shape that this gives me. I wear the waist quite high so the length is perfect but you could easily get away with this if you were taller too!

Lady V London have just released a range of polka dot dresses in the same shape, which I would love to try especially with the extra stitch on the wrap to give a better fit.

Do you have an Estella dress? Which one is your favourite?

To me, Yours Clothing are another plus size brand that are doing so well at the moment. They have been to a few of the events I have been at recently (Style XL and Plus North) and it seems that they're really listening to what customers want at the moment, which is always a good thing!

As Seen On Someone - A Look at ASOS Curve

I don't know if it is just me, but I really feel like ASOS Curve is killing it at the moment. What I like about browsing the range of clothes at ASOS Curve is that it always feels like there is a selection of outfit types... like they're a plus size retailer that actually recognises people like different things. From skater and swing dresses to over sized t shirts and bodycon dresses there is all sorts!

I have bought a few items from ASOS over the last few weeks, some of which I haven't worn yet and some of which I just haven't photographed yet. New additions to my own personal ASOS Curve collection include

I love a bit of floral and I think that ASOS do these patterns so well!

I am off to London this weekend and all of these items are in my suitcase, so I will finally have some photos to show you. In the mean time - here's some amazing bloggers looking great in their ASOS outfits for my As Seen on Someone feature (clever eh?)

Hannah from f looking brill in her ASOS jeans

Miss Kathryn from MissKathrynsMistakes in a beautiful sunflower dress (I regret not buying this)

Mrs Bebe in looking great in ASOS jeans and shirt and some ASOS dungarees

Laura from Laura on Life in an oversize graffiti print dress from ASOS

Lucia from U Can't Wear That in a paisley print dress & a squiggle print dress

Big Fat Betty in her ASOS outfit

Leah from Just Me Leah in a lovely ASOS strapless dress

A bit of smock dress loveliness from Natty Nikki!

Last but not least, Pink Gemma

Of course, I've worn the odd bit of ASOS in the past too ;)

Have you tried ASOS yet? Did you like it?

I Have Sinned: Money Saving Monday

Last week I blogged about a July spending ban that some of us were undertaking and I was all set to have a month of no spending on clothing... and then Blackpool happened!

At the weekend I went to Blackpool for a night (more about that in another post) and so took one dress with me for the Friday night! Saturday morning I was persuaded (by my parents of all people) to stay another night and go out with them to see a show! So... I had nothing to wear!!

Blackpool has quite a nice New Look Inspire range so I had to go emergency clothes shopping - It's not my fault!! Anyway, I got this dress from New Look for just £13 in the sale, so even though I spent I tried to do it sensibly... and not bad for £13!

I teamed it up with my Yours Clothing kimono and a cheapie Primark necklace and I was good to go!  I didn't get any proper pictures so this toilet mirror, drunken selfie will have to do for now!

So - I have sinned... SORRY!! I am going to try and keep it up for the rest of the month though - wish me luck!!

OMCZ: We're All Going On A Summer Holiday...

Time For another Outside My Comfort Zone post, this time around the theme of summer holidays. I am not going on holiday this year, but to be honest with you a bit of sunshine even in the UK gets me giddy. I love hot days where you can sit in the park or the dark and just relax!

For me summer comfort is all about wearing flowy clothes that are easy to wear and of course summer wouldn't be summer without floral patterns and pastel colours. The whole idea of the challenge this fortnight was to look at how we would dress for an evening meal on holiday. The important thing for me would be to feel comfortable.

I was a bit late typing this post and only started this morning... As I was typing THIS little beauty from Scarlett & Jo dropped on my Twitter feed and it's lovely! I am almost glad I am on a July spending ban because otherwise this could well be winging its way to me already!

I wouldn't over dress the skirt as I feel it is already beautiful on its own. For me a white t shirt or vest top and a pair of pretty sandals would be enough.

Another option for me would be to wear a kimono! Lucia at U Can't Wear That has dragged me into her obsession with kimonos and now I love them! Yours Clothing have some beautiful offerings at the moment. For me a kimono is perfect summer holiday evening wear - a plain maxi skirt and white shirt are perfect and then you can add a splash of colour with a kimono of your choice!

What would you wear for an evening in the sunshine?
