Loving Lovedrobe

I have wanted to try Lovedrobe for a while now, but it is something that I just haven't ever gotten around to!

A few weeks ago I managed to get my hands on their Purple Pu Trim Scuba Dress - and it's love!

The dress goes up to a size 26, which I know would get some people worrying about how it will fit them. However, as you can see from the photos - it fits me just fine!

Sorry about the poor quality - I had no one to take them for me, so I am using my trusty phone!

The dress is quite short on me (probably because of the sizing) but teamed with leggings it is more than fine! I love the shape of the dress & think it is quite flattering. What I love about it is the PU trim, which brightens the whole dress up for me - you know, I usually go for much brighter colours and patterns.

I was lucky enough to be invited to an ASOS Christmas event last week, so I wore this outfit there  - and it was perfect! Even Santa liked it! ;)

Seeing as it's winter and a wee bit chilly out there, the dress needed something more to keep me nice and toasty. I teamed it up with some grey wooly boots and this New Look leather jacket, which I believe is currently reduced in the sale!

So there you have it - another plus size brand tried & tested. I would like to try move of their products, especially in my size but this dress has definitely peaked my interest in the brand!

What brands would you love to try that you haven't quite gotten around to yet?

A Little Bit Of Sparkle

Over the last few weeks I have been searching for Christmas dresses. Not just for me, but in general. I love summer for all of its bright colours, I am not a fan of Autumn browns and dull colours but then Christmas comes and suddenly it's all glitz, glamour and sparkle - and I love it!

I was over the moon when the team at Yours Clothing* gave me the chance to try one of their new dresses and choose this dress, simply because of the little bit of sparkle and sequins it has... I have a proper love affair going on with sequins at the moment!

Red And Black Short Sleeve Lace 2 In 1 Dress

The sparkle and sequins don't show up massively well in the photo, but I can assure you that they do look sparkly - but also not too over the top for people are worried about having TOO much sparkle (if there is such a thing!)

I wore the dress out at the weekend, to meet a group of friends for a night out. As soon as I arrived they all told me that they loved what I was wearing and that 'why hadnt I worn it before?'. None of them knew it was a gifted item and none of them would give compliments if they didn't mean it - so I knew it was a good item! You can buy the item here.

I got my usual size and found it very generous. I could easily have sized down one size, possibly two if i didnt mind it being a bit more fitted. That said, I love the size because its nice and comfy to wear and the length is good (I wore it with leggings but I oculd have gone iwthout them if it wasn't so cold).

I didn't have anyone to take my photos this weekend, so plesse excuse the mirror photos - but you'll get an idea of what it looks like.

And a little bit drunker, less posy photo... just for good measure!

The only problem with this dress? That it's available in teal which I'll need to buy too!

What sparkles do you have for this Christmas? Send me your links, I can never have enough sparkle!

*This was a gifted item, but all views are open, honest and completely my own!

"Meat Is For The Man, Only A Dog Wants A Bone"... ??

I know, I have already blogged today - but something has really got my blood boiling and I have to rant somehow!

So anyway... Real Women Have Curves!

That's right isn't it? That if you're a REAL man you'll admit to being a chubby chaser, or that if you're a curvy woman you should embrace it because your body shape is real -so much more real than the size 10 girl down the road!

It all started with this post by Superdrug post (which I found via

As you can imagine - there were some choice words said against their use of this photo. It was deleted within a few hours and they apologised via Twitter the next day.

It once again got me thinking about the mantras that SO many body positive influencers use, to try and make curvy women feel better about themselves... You know the ones I mean, 'Real women have curves', 'Meat is for the man, only dogs want a bone'... I have ranted about these before and no doubt I will again.

If you believe that 'real women have curves' then please look at this photo:

I am proud to say that the gorgeous girl on the left is my little sister. I have talked about her and her weight loss before so I won't go down that route - but can you HONESTLY say that she is not a real woman?? She looks amazing - and she is kind, funny, clever and has all of the good qualities that a decent person should have. I honestly do not believe that she or I have better body types that each other (not that it is a contest  - I believe we both have good bodies and that mantras like 'real women have curves' only serve to segregate people in the fight towards a body positive world and that is the last thing we need.

Are bones only for dogs, or is my beautiful little sister just as entitled to be loved (by the way she is!) by a man as I am... We're all good, and I really can not stress enough how much sayings like these make me cringe - especially when they're used in a way to promote positive body image.

Real Men Like Women With Curves.

That sentence right there ^^ makes me SO angry. I saw it on a website called 'Curvy Partner' although i can't see it on their page any more, so maybe they have seen the error of their ways.

They do have this tweet though:

Someone who finds my sister (or someone similar) attractive is no more or less real than someone who finds me (or someone similar) attractive. We're all real - even those of us who are 'bad' or make bad decisions - we're REAL! Every single bloody one of us....

I will never, ever understand the concept of bringing down a body type in order to make someone else feel better. I have said it many times - ALL BODIES ARE GOOD BODIES! If you are fat, or thin or like fat girls or thin girls (or boys!) that is OK! Your preference is OK and your business alone.

You do not need to be detrimental to one body type in order to make another feel better!

I'd love to know your thoughts - Do these sayings make you feel better, or do you agree with me?

Debz xx

P.S I apologise for the rant, the anger and the swearing :)

Definition Of Size - Art Fundraiser

I have only been blogging properly for a very short time, but I am still very lucky that it has introduced me to some great people in the plus size world and fashion industry.

A couple of months ago I bumped into Anita Bellamy - a lovely lady who works as a 'fit model' for a number of plus size clothing ranges. Since then I have seen her at a few events - she is most definitely a supporter of this whole world, thing, community, industry...

Anita runs Plus Confidence In You, who buy their own definition are fighting for a fairer world. As their website says "We are here to promote and celebrate women and men of size We have been campaigning for for a few years now against body image discrimination and how society treats people of size. We are human and we come in all shapes and sizes and are no longer going to try and be accepted or fit in with how people feel we should look."

They have their first ever fundraiser at the end of this month and it sounds prettty exciting! I know I shall be attending, would be great to see some of your lovely faces there!

You can get tickets here or find Anita on Twitter at if you have any questions.

If anyone is going let me know... and come say hey!

Lady in Red

I have had this red dress from ASOS Curve in my wardrobe for a while, but haven't had a chance to wear it. This weekend I decided to be a lady in red for the Plus London After Dark Party and then my trip to BGP in the evening. I wore it with leggings (surpisingly I know!) and some sparkly silver shoes. I loved the fit of the top and enjoyed wearing it.

The 'lovely' necklace gets SO many comments, it's a Primark bargain and I am so glad I picked up it when I saw it a few months ago!

I don't often wear red, so it was a nice change for me - what colour do you like to wear?

Plus London - What I Wore

As you will probably have seen - I attended Plus London, a London based bloggers/plus size event last weekend. Leading up to the event I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to wear - I knew I would be out and about all day, so I wanted to make sure I was comfortable as well as looked good... After all, with so many fabulous plus size bloggers in attendance I couldn't be left behind in the style stakes!

In the end I opted for my green ASOS wrap around top, leggings and my trusty flats from Primark.

The backdrop is the back of the Hoxton Arches gallery where Plus London was held - how amazing does it look?

I had some professional photos taken on the day so I'll get those posted soon too!

Did you attend Plus London? I lusted after SO many outfits on the day, so please send me links so I can lust some more!

Plus London - My First Proper Bloggers Event!

Last weekend I attended my first proper bloggers event - Plus London. I had heard good things about previous events and after missing out on Plus North I was really keen to attend. I have to say, the day did not disappoint. In fact I spent so much time having fun that I forgot to take too many photos - sorry!

My day started with an amazing make over by the lovely Betty Pamper - I love looking at Bettys make up style and reading her blog, so having my make up done by her was a really treat and got my day off to an amazing start!

And the finished result (which lasted right through the Plus London After Dark Party and another event until bed time at 5am!)

Throughout the day we got to chat to the PR representatives from different larger companies (Simply Be, Taking Shape and Curvissa for example) and chat to people who started up some of the smaller companies we all know and love (Twisted Siren and Black Heart Creatives)... I was also introduced to a couple of companies I hadn't come across before which was great!

We got to have our photo taken by a professional photographer (Photos coming soon!) and listen to talks by some of the brands about their loves, future plans and what they're going to be doing for us - and of course ask any questions that we might have!

The day part of the event was finished with a fantastic performance by The Diablo Daniels - who was amazing!
Then we all headed off for a few hours, before coming back for the After Dark part of the event  - with some, interesting shots on offer by the Plus London Team! We got to take fun photos with a variety of props, have a chat to everyone and have a bit of a dance - so much fun!

Apart from a couple of launches, I haven't really attended a 'proper' blogger event and I am glad I did - It was so nice to meet the people behind the blogs I read and chat to the brands properly.

Thanks to the whole Plus London team for a marvellous Saturday!

Did you attend? Send me your write up links, I'd love to read them!

ABC of Dresses From Curvissa

I have to admit that Curvissa is quite a new website to me. When I am looking for new clothes it is often a website that I overlook for forget to check - but without good reason! When I was looking for Christmas dresses and going through all the plus size retailer websites I thought I would check theirs out, I was not left disappointed. Ever since I saw their check print pinafore dress, I was hooked!

These dresses could be worn at Christmas (I found them while researching that after all) but mostly they're just nice, pretty plus size dresses - which we all know can be a bit of a rareity.

Affordable - Printed Tunic Dress

I really like how the pattern of this dress works and that it is a little different to alot of the dresses on the market at the moment. If you look at lots of the dresses that are on offer you'll see that many of them are skater dress shape or similar, I love those but it is nice to see Curvissa offering something different. This tunic dress is only £35.00 and I think could be accessorised for either night or day wear. You can get this dress here

Bargain - Leaf Print Tea Dress

I have been looking for a vintage style tea dress for ages, so when I saw this one I had to blog about it! This is definitely a dress to add to my 'must buy when I am rich list' - it's lovely! I love the fact that it is a classic style with a classic black and white colour throughout most of it, with a pop of colour at the bottom to make it stand out! I love the sleeves but also it is the type of dress that could be teamed up with a pretty cardigan if someone didn't want their arms on show. This dress is only £42 and can be bought here

Cash To Splash - M.I.M Evening Dress

If you have a little more money to spend  then this is definitely a dress you could invest in. Although it is £110 I think it would be a good investment piece. You can easily keep the dress (which is also available in black) in your wardrobe and bring it out for any number of occasions. I love the pattern and shape of the dress, it's definitely one I would love to own. You can buy this dress here.

Have you ever shopped at Cuvissa? What did you like about them?

Although I would never have the budget to be able to afford a dress like this, I have serious lust going on for it! I love the lace affect and the colour of the dress. What I love most about the dress is that you can easily wear it without having to dress it up too much - the simplistic look will really work with this dress. This dress is a real investment piece at £120.00 - click here to get it.

I Can't Shop On The High Street, I'm Fat: A Look At New Look Inspire

I have talked about the New Look Inspire range before, in fact I own quite a few of their pieces. I recently discovered that the New Look on Tottenham Court Road (London) has quite a big Inspire range in store so I thought I would go along and check it out!

As you will see from the pics - the display is pretty impressive. They have quite a big area dedicated to Inspire clothing, so you can easily browse for what you are looking for. There is a good selection of clothes - though I did notice a couple of items I liked on the website which I couldnt see in store.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that the store still only stocks up to a size 26. I thought it was great news that the New Look Inspie website goes up to a 32 now and I would love to see this rolled out to stores soon. *fingers crossed*

I did however fall in love with one of their beautiful leather style jackets and will be purchasing this in my size from the website ASAP!

Do you have a New Look Inspire near you? What do you think of it?

Gemma Cruickshank Collexions: The Launch

Earlier this week I was invited down to Mary Janes Bar in Tower Hill to see the official unveiling of the Gemma Cruickshank Collexions. If you're not sure who Gemma is or why you should be excited about this, you can see my interview with her here.

Gemma is an independent fashion designer and this week unveiled her first collection - and what a collection it was.

I apologise for the bad quality of the photos  - it was SO busy and everyone was SO keen to see the collection that we couldn't all get the photos we wanted. However, what a great sign for Gemma that SO many people are keen to see what she has to offer - Go Team Gemma!

With live music, fantastic organisation, buy one get one free cocktails and banana cake made by Gemma's mum to die for  - it was a night not to be missed!

It was also nice to meet lots of new people and catch up with a few familiar faces!

And of course, catch up with the lovely lady herself!

I am sure there will be a whole host of better photos up very soon - as well as her line being launched for sale properly. In the meantime check out her website or #TeamGemma on most social networks to see what is going on and all the photos from the night!

Live Unlimited: New Season Stock

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to Live Unlimited Head Quarters to get a sneaky peak at their new range for Autumn/Winter. For those that don't know, Live Unlimited are a newish range of clothing on Evans.

Upon meeting the lovely ladies behind this new brand, I learnt that they are very passionate about the cause. Every single one of the ladies I met knew the range of clothing inside out and were more than happy to take on feedback we gave.

Being the loud mouth blogger that I am I didn't give glowing feedback on some of the items - I wanted less cover up, more colour for example. That said, the range is BEAUTIFUL and the ladies were more than happy to talk to us about our needs and what we would like to see from a plus size clothing range.

The brand has been designed by a team of ladies that have been working with Evans for years. After seeing the Evans brand grow, they wanted to create something - and so they did! With lace biker jackets and sparkly Christmas dresses there can be no denying that they got it right - very right!

The items are slowly being dripped onto the Evans website so it is well worth looking at what they have on offer!

Me and The Live Unlimited Team
Have you checked out the range? I'd love to know your favorite pieces! Here's mine:
