Ideas For Festive Dating

It can sometimes feel that summer is the perfect time to date, because we have warm weather and much longer days. When the sun is shining we all have a bit of a spring in our step so joining Cumbria dating websites or signing up for speed dating in Somerset can seem like the perfect excuse to get out there and have some adventures in the summer sun.

However, there are so many fun things that you can do during the colder weather, especially the festive season! One of my favourite things at this time of year is Christmas markets - so why not incorporate a trip to one of these into a date? If you sign up to a Buckinghamshire dating agency and are local you could even make a trip into London and go to Hyde Park Winter Wonder Land, which is a really, really fun way to spend a few hours!

Winter Evenings

We all know that this time of year it starts to get dark earlier, which means that we can be less likely to go out and about - however if you're signed up to a Glasgow dating website, you are going to want to go out and meet people. Why not find a tradiotional pub with a log fire and enjoy a mug or two of mulled wine? The only time of year you can do this is now, so don't put it off!

Festive Events

If you're a member of something such as a Cardiff dating website and start to chat to someone that you would like to meet, make sure you look at local events happening that you could attend. Christmas light switch-ons, Carol singing events, Christmas shopping and so much more is happening right now and right the way through to January - so get out there and have fun!

Making Time For Relationships

When we talk about relationships, we generally mean a loving, sexual relationships between two people - although of course, there are many different ways that relationships can be defined. When I talk about making time for relationships, I mean for all of those important people in our lives. We all tend to be so busy, that it can be be easy to lose touch with people but it really is worth making the effort to restore these connections.

Finding Relationships

Whether you sign up for Edinburgh dating or Birmingham dating websites or use something such as a Wiltshire dating agency, you need to do so when you have the time to invest in this. Sending a few messages backwards and forwards is not time consuming so really easy to do even when we are very busy. However if you want to make sure that this is turned into something more meaningful then you really do need to make sure you have the physical time to put into this.

Making Time Long Term

Once we start to feel comfortable with someone, it can be hard continue making the effort to spend time - but it really is important! Thankfully there are lots of ways that you can make time without it affecting the rest of your life. Chill time is really important, so if you have met someone on something such as a Belfast dating site, once you know them make sure you make time for this. It doesn't always have to be the most exciting of dates - Sunday morning brunch in bed together for example can be a really nice way to spend time together.

Outside of the Box

If one of you have to take a trip away for work, why not see if you can go together? Yes, one of you will have to work but an evening away in a hotel after working hours can be really lovely - a change of scenery is always nice too! If you're working shifts can you have midnight picnics or last minute movie nights? It will sometimes take some compromise, but it's always worth it!

So, if you have signed up to something such as speed dating in Portsmouth, give some thought to how you're going to find the time to date, which you meet someone that you want to start spending a significant amount of time with.

Dating Events - Are They a Thing?

Over recent years we have seen online dating become, not only more popular but also more socially acceptable. A while back you might have signed up to a Northamptonshire dating agency but not told anyone. You and any new partners would have made-up some elaborate story about how you met and had to keep up this lie for the rest of time - all because you didn't want anyone to know you had a helping hand with dating.

Now-a-days things are very different - people sign up to things like Cambridge dating and Manchester dating websites and proudly sharing dating stories and funny messages with all of their friends. The chances are you know someone that has given online dating a go - even if they have had mixed experiences!

Dating Events

Now that we're all more open with how we date and the methods we use to meet people; you'll find there are many new ways to meet people. For example you can look up speed dating in Central to find evenings where you can meet numerous people in one evening. Sometimes you'll be given ice breaker questions and things to ask; and basically you spend an evening talking to people for a few minutes at a time.

If you sign up to a Tayside dating agency you might find that they have other social events based around dating. The theory behind this is that you get to meet people with similar interests, which we all know can be a really solid foundation for starting a relationship.

Have you been to a dating social event?

Surviving Prom and Christmas Parties

We're getting to that time of year where social invites, parties and get-togethers are more regualr than ever. I love the festive season because it gives me the chance to catch up with everyone that I haven't seen for a while. This year, one of those weekends will involve a visit to Manchester Christmas Markets, a catch up with pals and a night out; so a really busy few days. Whilst I love socialising and seeing everyone, it can be exhausing and it's important that you prepare yourself in the right way.

Pick Your Events

The chances are, you won't be able to do everything. So whether it's prom, Christmas or some other busy time on your social calendar make sure you pick and choose your events. Remind yoruself that it is absoutley fine to decline social inviations if you can't do them, even if that's just to spend the day looking after yourself between other social occasions.

In order to ensure that the stress of declining invites doesn't get too much, try and do this as soon as you can. Otherwise the chances are you're going to dwell on things and make it a much bigger deal than it actually is. The last thing you want to do is put off cancelling so long that you feel obligated to attend. Write social occasions on a calendar as they come in and spend time working out what you can and can't attend.

Having a Good Time

As someone who lives in a plus size body, you might come across people who want to make comment on your body - especially if it is someone you haven't seen since last years festive get togethers. Their comments are not needed and are definitley not correct, but i do know they can be unavoidable. Preparing yourself to the fact you'll be hearing these can make them much easier to deal with. If you can, think of some responses that you'd like to say should someone feel they simply must comment on, and you'll feel much more prepared

Getting Dressed

This time of year is all about the sparkle, so if you're someone that loves a few sequins and holds back throughout the year, now is the time to really go for it. The same goes for prom - if you are attending prom feel free to use this as an excuse to really get the dress of your dreams.

The good news is that thanks to online shopping, it should be easy to find a prom dress to suit you in terms of style, budget and fit. We know that when it comes to dresses there are loads more choices these days, so there is something to suit everyone! This is the same for Christmas and party occasion dresses so get shopping now – that way you’ll have plenty of time to find something perfect!

Indulging in Lady Voluptuous

If you follow me on any social media then you'll have seen that I spent last weekend in Bournemouth and it was brilliant! I was actually there to attend the Club Indulge Weekender - which is the first weekend event the club night has run.

Club Indulge is a bi-monthly (ish) club night held in London. It's a body positive night aimed primarily at the plus size community but open to everyone. I used to attend the club night when I lived in London and when I saw that Miranda was arranging a weekend event - I had to be there!

The event took place in a hotel and compromised of two party nights, group dinners, buffet breakfasts, a pool party, speed meeting, clothes swap and lots of time putting the world to rights in the hotel bar! I loved it because I had the chance to get dressed up for each of the different events, which is something I always enjoy!

Although this was the first event that took place over a whole weekend I am hearing whispers of it already being booked to take place next year! I had such a great time, in a really comfortable and welcoming environment and would recommend it to anyone!

For one of the nights I knew I had to wear Lady Voluptuous - after all, when it comes to party dresses they are one of my go to brands. This time, I decided to wear one of their Rosa dresses and it did not disappoint. I love the fit of these dresses and even though it isn't mandatory to have something that is flattering - I love how flattering these dresses are!

I choose this dress because it offers a cute pattern, which is not like one I have had before. I knew the night would involve lots of dancing and standing around so I opted to wear it with these super comfortable shoes I picked up in the Yours Clothing sale for a fiver!

What did you get up to this weekend?

Dating When You're Over 40

I have been online dating since my early twenties, so it's something I am used to and have always done. I have had some really successful dates and relationships with people I have met online, and I hope this will happen again in the future.

As I am used to online dating and navigating online dating websites it is something that comes naturally to me. I know that whether I am looking for speed dating in Oxford or a Hertfordshire dating site, I can easily find a website and that signing up will probably be a doddle!

However, when it comes to senior dating - is everything the same?

I can imagine that dating for the first time in a while as an over 40 is going to be daunting and likely to be something that you really have to step out of your comfort zone to do. The good thing is that many of us are used to navigating social media websites and search engines so finding something such as an Aberdeen dating website shouldn't be too much of a struggle.

Feeling Ready For Dating

I would say that whether you're over 40 or not, only put yourself out there for dating when you feel ready. This cold be a week after the end of a relationship or a year - there really are no right or wrongs. However, online dating can be a strain if you are not ready so put yourself first and take everything at your own pace.

The same goes for when you are chatting to someone on one of these sites and want to meet them. his should be at your pace and only when you feel ready. That said - if you want to dive in then why not look up something such as speed dating in Clwyd and just go for it!

Are you over 40 and currently dating? Share your story with me!

Finding the Right Dating Website For You

One of the nicest things about using the internet date is that there are loads of different websites out there, which means that no matter the type of relationship you're looking for there is something out there for you.

For me personally I like to use BBW/Curvy girl dating websites. I'm not a fan of either term but I know that when I date on these websites guys are open to dating a fat girl. I realise that this isn't for everyone, but that's what I prefer generally. If you're looking for lesbian dating in Oxford or lesbian dating in Basingstoke, for example there will be additional websites to suit you.

Finding The Dating Website For You

If you know friends that are looking to date similar people to you, why not ask them for their recommendations? You'll probably find that your friends have tried at least a couple of dating websites so will be able to give you some hints and tips. After all, if you're both looking for gay dating in Lancashire why wouldn't you swap some tips? A search on Google will also help you find new websites to sign up to - although you won't usually be able to see reviews before you sign up.

Using the Website

Personally I would never sign up to and pay for a website I haven't used before. Most gay dating in Bournemouth and other gay dating websites let you sign up for free and then only pay to use the website is there is more you want to do on there - such as message someone else who also hasn't paid for a profile. This is a great way to explore the website and make sure it offers something that suits you. It also gives you an idea of how many people are also on the website. After all, there's probably no point signing up for gay dating in Western Isles based website, if you're the only person on there!

Have you tried online dating? What tips would you give?

Looking After Your Eyes

As a blogger and social media enthusiast, I spend a lot of time sat behind a computer screen. When you couple that with the fact that I work a desk job sat at a computer, it stands to reason that doing something to make sure this is all done in the right way should be done.

Using Computers

When it comes to sitting at a desk and using a computer, lots of us are told about making sure we have the desk set up correctly. We know that a supportive chair is important and that we should make sure that we sit correctly so as not to damage our posture. In the work place we’re often given assessments to ensure that we have our desk in the right way. Screens need to be in the right position and keyboard/mouse set up needs to be straight so that your body is not twisted in a strange way.

Sometimes sitting in the way that is best for us can take some getting used to as we are so used to sitting in a way that feels most comfortable. However, once you follow any guidelines set to you and you are more used to sitting that way you’ll actually find it much more comfortable – especially long term!

Looking After Your Eyes

Of course, one of the dangers of sitting at a computer all day is strain on your eyes. If you’re someone that ends the day with a headache then this is something that you need to make sure you address. Getting an eye test sooner rather than later is something that I would really recommend. Headaches can be really unbearable and you don’t want them to start affecting your work if they start to happen more frequently.

One thing to also be aware of is the amount of un-natural light that our devices omit. The light from these devices isn’t the same as sunshine and so affects our eyes and brain in a much different way.

Known as blue-light this light can affect our eyesight in many different ways, as well as being a factor in keeping us awake late. We all know that we would benefit from switching screens off a while before we sleep and this is because blue-light keeps our eyes and brain active.

One thing that is recommended is to invest in a blue lightfilter for your laptop or other device. As
the name suggests this helps to filter out blue light and protect your eyes.

Other Hints and Tips

There are different ways that we can protect our health when it comes to using computers and electronic devices. For starters having a break away from the screen is highly recommended. Not only does this give your eyes a break from staring at the screen but if you get up and have a walk around the office you’ll do your body the world of good too! Have you ever felt really stiff standing up after being sat for so long? A break way from your device and a quick walk around will prevent this!

The Low Down on Online Dating

Online dating is a funny old game isn't it? As a 35 year old, single, female I have done more than my fair share of online dating and as a sub-sequence, have a good few stories I can tell! Often, these dating experiences have left me cringing at the time but now are good dinner party stories to tell - it's great when you can laugh at yourself isn't it?

Whether you're looking for general over 50s dating or something more specific such as a Norfolk dating agency there is going to be something online that suits you. Online dating is big business so there are many choices when it comes to the website you choose to sign up on.

Choosing A Website

With so many different dating websites to choose from, it can be hard to know what is going to be the right website for you. Have a think about what you're looking for and get Googling for something such as Shropshire dating agency or Nottinghamshire dating, something that suits you!

Personally I would always choose a website that offers a free preview to get started - if you do have to pay, you want to make sure it's a website that you like before you part with your money. Most offer a basic membership at no cost and then you can pay to upgrade when you feel it is needed.

Getting Out There

So, let's say you have signed up to a Cornwall dating website and found someone that you quite like talking to - what next? Well, Personally I prefer not to talk to someone for weeks and weeks before I meet them but then I also don't want to rush into anything. You'll generally know how comfortable you feel so follow your own instincts. Choose somewhere casual and comfortable for your first meet - a few drinks in a local bar always works well for me.

Most of all - have fun!

Why I Believe in Same Sex Marriage

Has Same-Sex Marriage Changed the Wedding Jellewery Industry?

In the UK, civil partnership formations have declined by 85% since 2013; this is a result of the introduction of same-sex marriages in March 2014. In the first month of legalisation in the UK, 1,049 same-sex couples wed.

As someone who has a number of friends in same-sex relationships,I fully believe in their right to get married. As far as I am concerned, love is love and anyone who thinks differently is not really someone I would be keen to associate with.

Angelic Diamonds, who make bespoke wedding rings recently looked at the rising popularity of same sex marriages and the affect this has had on their industry, so I thought I would share the information with you..

When Same-Sex Marriage Was Legalised

Following the legalisation of same-sex marriage in England and Wales in July 2013, the first same-sex wedding took place on 29th March 2014. From this point, 15,098 couples legally married under the new legislation up to 30th June 2015 — 55% of these were between women and 45% between men. In the first month alone of legalisation, 1,409 same-sex couples celebrated their love for each other with a wedding.

Image result for same sex marriage

Thankfully, Same-sex marriage is now legal in all states of America which if you ask me, can only be a good thing!

Upon researching it was discovered that much of the industry have already seen an effect of this — it was found that couples spend more on their weddings than they would on a civil partnership. Men were found to spend $15,580 more on average and women $9,116.

Personally I feel that same-sex marriage should be allowed everywhere and I was shocked to discover that the first gay wedding happened only last month in Germany. Where as places such as Italy and Australia have yet to allow a same-sex marriage to take place.

Carrying on Traditions

The conventions of heterosexual marriage have been around for hundreds of years; the man asks for approval from the woman’s parents, he purchases an engagement ring and proposes. At the wedding, the male has his groomsmen and women have their bridesmaids.

As opposed to stag and hen dos, studies showed that gay couples also chose to enjoy a couple’s getaway or a group vacation with all of their friends. These are a great way for a group of friends to get together and celebrate a partnership, and often the same fun activities that take place at a hen or stag do take place here too.

Research found that over 80% of gay men didn’t participate in the engagement ring buying. Instead, they purchased substitute gifts, such as expensive watches, and then purchased rings for the wedding ceremony.

When walking down the aisle was discussed, some couples reported that they walked down together and others said that they got a parent to walk with them.  Either way is fine, it is all about your needs and wants.

Over the years we have seen the way hetrosexual couples get married change too, with many people taking much more relaxed approaches to parts of the ceremony; so this has really helped with paving the way for accepting same-sex marriage ceremonies also.

Has This Affected The Jewellery Industry?

As well as wedding retailers adapting to the rise in same-sex weddings, the jewellery industry must do the same. One thing that was picked up by research was that many gay couples chose to do their shopping online, as they found shopping in store for rings to be an awkward encounter. However, many businesses have embraced the changes by presenting gay couples in their advertising campaigns and welcoming couples to their store.

It does seem that most same-sex couples wait to buy a ring for the wedding day rather than spending money on engagement rings though (over 65% of females and nearly 20% of males purchased engagement rings).

When it comes to choosing the wedding ring, some jewellers offer metal that has multi-coloured features to it — representative of the flag that the LGBTQ community associate themselves with.

One jeweller reported that often same-sex couples don’t request matching jewellery but instead want rings that have matching components, such as the same coloured metal or a similar stone.

Ultimately, love is love and therefore however you choose to have your ceremony is a personal choice. Your big day doesn't have to reflect the standards of others, instead it just needs to be something that you and your partner are happy with - after all, you're the ones that matter.

A Real Engagement

Despite being an eternal spinster, I do love a good engagement story! I love people that have put effort into the proposal and/or announcement.  In fact, I often find myself losing hours on YouTube watching proposal videos – we’ve all done that right? If I get into watching some of the clever first dance videos that people create I lose even more time! So when I was invited to check out 77 Diamonds I knew I would have a lot of fun window shopping! And when I read their celebrity trend data, I was not disappointed!

Getting Engaged

As ever, your engagement and subsequent wedding is a very personal affair. For me, it isn’t ever about how much money you have to spend but instead ensuring that it is exactly what you want and that you’re completely in love. There are loads of ways that you can create the ultimate engagement and wedding day to your exact budget, so never put off getting engaged until the time is right for finances – This is something special and should be cherished!

Celebrity Engagement Trends

Of course you’ll always see celebrity engagements and massive sparkling rings to celebrate their coupling, but we don’t always notice that there are different trends that can have an effect on what we buy. We know that celebrities and social media have a lasting effect on what we spend our
money on and when it comes to engagement and wedding rings, there is no exception.

A few years ago you’d have seen platinum rings everywhere, as this is what celebrities were wearing. Since then we have seen white gold soar in popularity throughout 2016 and yellow gold has been the must have this year. One trend that seems to out-last them all is white diamonds which have been just as popular this year as they have previously.

Getting Engaged

You might not notice it but even when and how we get engaged can be affected by celebrity trends. We see celebrities host big extravagant engagements, whisking their significant others off to luxurious locations and we’re tempted to do the same.

We tend to see lots of people get engaged during the summer and of course over the Christmas holidays – perhaps your own engagement is soon approaching and you just don’t know it yet?

Spreading the News

Over recent years we have seen celebrities take charge and announce their own engagement rather than through official press releases. We have seen some really funny and clever announcements created purely for platforms such as Instagram and this has made the rest of the world want to follow suit.

Of course, as much as celebrity engagements are fascinating – when you consider that they spend an average of over £450k on a ring, it might be worth looking at your own needs and coming up with something that makes you happy – after all, we don’t all have that Hollywood budget!

So, tell me – are you engaged? How did you do it? Planning one? Got one planned? Tell me everything!

Shopping The Yours Clothing Sale: Scarlett and Jo

If there are two things I love it's shopping and a sale. Combine this with Yours Clothing and Scarlett and Jo and you're on to a winner. I have to be honest, I always forget that Yours Clothing stock some of my favourite brands but the fact that they now do Scarlett and Jo, Hell Bunny and Lady Voluptuous is a massive bonus point for me.

Last week they had a really good sale on and I couldn't resist picking up this outfit. I forget the exact prices of items but the whole outfit (dress, shoes and bag) came to less than £50 delivered - which is always a winner in my eyes.

I have the bag already in red and it's really handy - so I thought black would be perfect for pairing it up with other items and using day to day also.

I have always loved these 2 in 1 Scarlett and Jo dresses - I love how they look and the shape they give my body. I really adore the fact that they come with a petticoat built in which gives the skirt a really floaty feeling and look.

I will be honest and say that my wardrobe has loads of these dresses in now, but they're perfect for wearing to all sorts of events and nights out. I love how they look dressy with minimal effort and are really comfortable to wear?

Do you own any Scarlett and Jo dresses?

Body Image: Should You Change Your Body?

The road to body image acceptance is different for everyone. Some people feel that they're on it permanently and for others, the way they feel about their body varies. Neither is wrong, it's a very personal feeling.

The important thing to remember is that you're the only person who has to live in your body, so as long as you are happy with it, that's the most important part.

For different people, a body they can feel positive about is very different and that is okay. Some people like to concentrate on their own bodies abilities and others like what they look like and feel this is what matters. Each to their own and I would say there are no rules - you make your own.

Changing Your Body

If you are someone that feels the physical look of your body matters then you can change this. I would never EVER say someone SHOULD change the way they look, but if you feel that it is the right thing for you then the rules are yours to make and it is your body to decide about.

These days there are many different types of beauty treatments available so there is something for everyone. This can be something as simple as new eye brows or a spray tan right through to surgery. Just make sure that you do your research and whatever route you go down, make sure it is the right thing for you

Would you make any changes to your body?

Mastering workplace Fashion

The Office Dress Code for the New Generation

Starting a new job and want to make the best first impression? When it comes to the workplace, looking good means feeling confident, which is exactly what you need if you want to excel. It’s no secret that workwear has relaxed over the years. Go back two decades and the office dress code was all about power dressing (formal suits, smart blouses and monochrome colour palettes).
Today, office style has transformed to suit our busy lifestyles, which means wearing outfits that take us effortlessly from work to play. This relaxed office dress code has brought on a wave of super-stylish professionals who look just as good at work as they do socialising after it. But, balancing professionalism and personal style is difficult. To help, QUIZ — a top retailer of chic party dresses, has shared its tips for mastering the new generation office dress code - they have a range of fantastic plus size options too!

Trousers for the office

The right pair of trousers can take any outfit from ordinary to office-ready, so make sure you have a few great pairs in your wardrobe for those days when you need to look effortlessly chic. To hug your figure and create a stunning silhouette, go for tapered trousers with smart flats for day-to-day wear and high heels for those important meetings.

If you want something more casual but still dressy enough for work, how about culottes and frill hem trousers? These are available in a range of bold styles, so make sure you opt for subtle prints and colours, like classic checks and stripes, to ensure your outfit isn’t too daring.
Now, you need to decide how to create your entire outfit. For a casual look, wear your trousers with a plain t-shirt and slouchy cardigan or jumper, then tuck the hem of your top into your trousers at the front. For more formality, swap the t-shirt for a ruched blouse or embroidered shirt for the perfect on-trend office look.

Business-ready dresses

The best thing about wearing dresses for work is that they’re so easy to style up or dress down, depending on your office dress code. For formal workplaces, choose a simple midi dress and avoid lace materials, bold prints and very bright colours — wearing any of these can give a ‘night-out‘ effect! Stick to plain styles or subtle prints for versatile looks you can work throughout the year.
If your office is more laid-back, you have scope to go more casual. Jumper dresses will work well through autumn and winter when paired with tights and ankle boots, while shirt dresses are another great choice that have a more business appeal.

Denim for work

Not long ago, you’d never dream about wearing jeans to the office. But now, denim is becoming a more acceptable piece of work attire — but only if you know how to style it right.
Just because you can wear jeans to work, it doesn’t mean that every style is appropriate. Arriving on your first day in slashed jeans is a big no-no, so keep it classic with plain denim in a darker wash to give a more formal vibe.

It’s also important when wearing jeans for work to avoid letting your look stray too far into off-duty territory. Pair your jeans with a smart-casual shirt or blouse and wear with more formal flats and a chic blazer to ensure a polished look.
Before you start creating your perfect jeans outfit for work, it’s worth double-checking that denim is allowed at your company before your first day to avoid any fashion faux pas!

Footwear

Once you’ve sorted the rest of your outfit, the final part to think about is your shoes. Overall, you have three main choices when it comes to work footwear: boots, pumps and heels.
Boots are the quintessential autumn/winter shoes — ideal for trudging through snow while keeping effortlessly stylish. Over-the-knee boots teamed with jumper dresses and tights is an on-trend, office-appropriate look for 2017, while heeled boots are also a great formal option.

Prefer wearing flat shoes to work? Loafers are smart and stylish, which means that they’re perfect to wear with trousers, dresses and jeans. You’ll definitely need black loafers, and it’s wise to invest in a nude pair, too.

When it comes to heels, things get trickier. You’ll need to choose a sensible heel, to avoid looking over-dressed for work, but that doesn’t mean you have to wear kitten heels. Mid-heeled, closed-toe shoes are the perfect choice, and strappy sandals with wide-leg trousers are perfect if you want to create a chic ‘day to night’ look.

What we wear for work is changing for the better. Get your look right and you’ll be the office fashionista in no time!

What do you usually wear to work?

Another Lady V London Dress

For my birthday last month I was lucky enough to be given a new Lady V London dress by my friends. They know that I love the Phoebe dress so they splashed out and bought me this Teddy Solider print one and I love it

I personally love the shape of the Phoebe dress and I now have a couple of prints in the same shape. One of my favourite things about this dress is that it has a built in petticoat, which gives the skirt a nice lift and a beautiful shape.

I am a massive fan of the Lady Voluptuous range and love that they offer a huge range of vintage style dresses all up to a size 32. These days plus size fashion has improved and we do have some options when it comes to plus size fashion but lots of these stop at a size 26. I love that Lady Voluptuous opens up vintage style dresses to a whole new range of people.

I have loads of Lady V London dresses now and have to be honest and say that I have never been disappointed. All of their dresses are well made and definitely items that are going to last you a good length of time. Their full prices do make dresses a bit of an investment but they have some cracking sales that are well worth looking into.

Do you own any Lady V London?

Home Lust List: Roof Windows

As I am sure most of you know by now, I currently live in a house share in Birmingham. I planned to live here for a couple of months but it’s actually worked out really well and I have now been here a year. That said, I can’t see myself living in a house share forever, so in 2018 I will more than likely start to look for my own place.

With moving at the forefront of my mind I have been thinking about d├ęcor, home furnishings and all manner of home accessories. I love that there is so much out there to choose from and that you can literally design any style of home that you like.

When I have been looking at ideas of what I like, I really like the look of those top hung roof windows from Roof Windows Velux Shop – Of course these might not be the ideal choice for a rented property but they’re definitely on my wish list when it comes to my own home, should that ever happen in the future.

Personally I am a massive fan of sunshine and love loads of natural light in the summer months. Windows like these would be perfect for that and allow all of the sunshine to stream in through the glass. However I also know they’re well made so would keep out the cold when the weather when the winter months are here – which is always good thing!

Ways To Motivate Yourself To Kick The Habit

As much as I don't really believe in good or bad behaviours when it comes to our own life choices, I am sure we all have a few habits that we consider "bad". These aren't things that I think you have to give up, but they are things you should quit - IF YOU WANT TO!

For example, I know I am lazy and take too many taxis places and want to look at ways to motivate myself to kick this habit and use public transport much more. Do I have to do this? No! Do I want to? Yes! (A little bit). The best way I have found to change anything is motivation. I know from speaking to friends that quitting smoking is something that is really tough, so motivating yourself to make this easier has to be a good thing! So what methods can you use?

What Will You Gain?

One of the best things I find for motivation is what I'll gain. So, for example when it comes to quitting smoking one of the most obvious things is how much money you'll gain  by giving up. You can easily do this by working out how much you have spent over the last month - we all know the cost of cigarettes is rising; so you might surprise yourself at just how much you are spending!

Treat Yourself

Get a money pot or spare savings account and move the money you would be spending on cigarettes into this. A lot of people find they can't actually afford to save up everything they would have spent (which is further proof of how much it is costing you) so even if you aim for 50%, over a few months you'll have a significant saved. You can then use this to treat yourself to something that you would have otherwise been unable to afford.

Get the Right Tools

There are loads of tools that can help you give up smoking, so make sure you arm yourself with these as they really will help. Use the internet to research what works for others and adapt these to you. One thing that many people rave about are vape starter kits - which are a really cost effective way to get started.

What tips do you have for giving up smoking?

Changing My Wardrobe: Winter is Coming

I always finish work at 6:30pm and to be honest with you, in the summer it has been lovely. A walk to the bus stop in the sunshine and getting home in time to enjoy a few house of summer sunshine is always a good thing in my eyes.

A couple of days ago I finished work and realised that it was no longer light when I was walking out of the office. It wasn't quite pitch black, but there was a definite change in the air - and I don't like it! Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the sunshine (even if it doesn't always love me) and summer is my absolute favourite. However, there is no denying that winter is coming - so I guess it's time to start giving some consideration to my winter wardrobe.

Window Shopping Online

One of the nicest things about the change in season is that loads of websites start to launch new collections and ranges. It's no secret that I am a sucker for window shopping online and I love to browse websites such as this one here for ideas on what to wear.

Me personally I don't actually change my look that much from season to season. I'm not a fan of being super warm and wearing lots of layer. Seeing as my summer wardrobe is mostly pretty dresses with or without leggings I just step this up a bit for winter.

Of course, when the weather is colder I'll wear leggings all of the time, with some sensible furry boots which keep my feet nice and cosy. Of course, a jacket is essential for winter too!

What do you like to wear in winter? What do you like to wear in winter? Are you someone that likes to wear lots of layers, or do you prefer the minimal approach like me?
