Here's What I Would Have Spent - River Island Plus

This week saw the launch of River Island Plus and if you follow any plus size bloggers on social media you'll see that the launch caused quite a stir. River Island is a high street brand that many people have lusted after and so it's a range that has been a long time coming.

I felt bitter sweet about the launch, like I often do with ranges like this. On one hand it's brilliant to see another high street range offering more options, on the other hand it's a range that stops at a size 24 - again.

One of the saddest things for me was the excitement of other bloggers that were able to try on their clothes. Perhaps its a touch of the green eyed monster but I couldn't help but feel disappointed that more people weren't talking about the lack of size choices. Of course if I was a size 22 I would be excited that another option were out there, but I would like to think that I would still be waxing lyrical about how many people are excluded from such a range!

Anyway, I digress.... As per usual with #HeresWhatIWouldHaveSpent I wanted to tell the brand what I would have bought should I have been able to shop with them. There's a few others on social media doing the same thing today so feel free to check out the tag on Instagram and Twitter. The lovely Sophie from Busy Little Fee posted about this today here too!

Would I have bought all of these? Probably not. Would I have bought some? Yes! Would I have liked the option to add RI Plus to my list of retailers when looking for a new outfit to buy in the future? ABSOLUTELY!

Talk of the new RI Plus range on social media soon led to discussions about how much the River Island range missed out. With Lauren from Pocket Rocket Fashion pointing out the items she would have bought from the straight range, should they have extended the sizes on those

As you can see, she found plenty that she would have spent her money on - if only River Island actually wanted her hard earned cash.

Diana followed suit, with again plenty of ways she'd have given River Island her money if they accepted it!

It's an interesting debate - why do so many ranges stop at a size 24? How do they decide which items to include?

I have asked brands before if their research shows that they SHOULD do this - IE they sell much, much less at a size 26 or is it just because 24 is on the more "acceptable" side of plus size? As yet I have been unable to get an answer!

So RI Plus; #hereswhatIwouldhavespent and I am not alone. In my opinion you are really missing out by excluding me and others like me!

Here's What I Would Have Spent - Voodoo Vixen

As you will probably know by now, I do a series of blog posts: Here's What I Would Have Spent. I blog (along with other bloggers) about what I would have bought from them, if they stocked my size. This weekend I am going to be writing about Voodoo Vixen.

Thanks to Lady V London and Lady Voluptuous I have developed a real love of vintage style dresses. I feel it is a real shame that retailers haven't clicked onto the fact that even those on the 'upper' end of plus size would like vintage clothing options.

Voodoo Vixen currently do up to a size 4XL which I believe equates to around a size 24. Don't get me wrong, that's great news but I want to see more!

So, Voodoo Vixen Here's What I Would Have Spent, should you have wanted my money!

As you can see there are loads of dresses I would love to own! They really do have some fantastic designs and patterns. I can only hope that one day they extend their size range!

What Voodoo Vixen dresses do you have your eyes on?

Here's What I Would Have Spent: Topshop

As you know every few weeks I get together a bunch of bloggers to do a Here's What I Would Have Spent. This time I wanted to do Topshop. They do up to a size 16 although looking at it they tend to do many items up to a size 12/14.

They have some lovely items on their website so it is a shame they don't do a larger range of sizes. Prices are affordable although not on the same wave length as Primark etc - obviously!

So, it's a really short post today - so much has been going on with #WeAreTheThey that I got a bit behind everything else!
But  - Topshop, if you did my size - Here's What I Would Have Spent

ASOS Main Range - Here's What I Would Have Spent

Every so often a group of bloggers and I get together to put some Here's What I Would Have Spent posts. The idea is to let retailers know that we would happily spend our hard earned cash on their clothing, if only they stocked our size!

I love the ASOS Curve range and it is probably one of my most popular 'go to' places when it comes to clothes shopping. However, I also lust after many items in their straight size ranges they don't extend to plus sizes - and so, the idea for this round of Here's What I Would Have Spent was born!

To be honest, there are so many other choices I could make from the ASOS website. They have such variety and I would love to see many more items in plus sizes too!

What do you love from ASOS?

Here's What I Would Have Spent: Simpy Be

You might have seen a post or two I have done before - Here's What I Would Have Spent. Todays company is Simply Be.

A few days ago some bloggers and I got talking about Simply Be and the plus size options that they offer. For many people Simply Be are one of the reliable retailers in the market, because of the amount of time they have been around.

Over recent months I have noticed a trend in the sizes that Simple Be offer, especially in their special collections. When you visit the site you'll see that they offer have a massive difference in the number of items they have in a size compared to what they offer in a size 32 for example.

In fact when you look at dresses they have more items in a size 12 than they do in a size 28. A massive shame for a plus size retailer, who has always prided itself on offering a number of choices.

So this week I thought I would take a look at Simply Be and what I might spend, should they have given me the option.

These are items that were never stocked above a size 26 and items I'd definitely have liked to invest in, should I have been given the chance.

They're from collections such as Kelly Brook, Koko, Little Mistress etc who all do very limited items above 26, if any at all.

Have you found items you'd like to buy that were not available in your size?

On another note, a lovely company this week offered to send my mum some flowers. They came today and I thought I'd share them with you!

They're a lovely gift, thank you Floric! Aren't they beautiful? I love flowers!

Here's What I Would Have Spent - Missguided

A few weeks ago I did a post about Pink Clove and what I would have bought from them if they stocked my size. I also write about how brilliant it was that Missguided had launched their own plus size range. So, I thought I would combine the two and do another new post!

Even better than that, I teamed up with a whole host of bloggers to do the same! See the link at the bottom of this post for other bloggers who have taken part in there #HeresWhatIWouldHaveSpent blogger challenge

So, back to Missguided.

I am passionate about plus size clothing and ensuring that everyone has options to wear the clothing that they want to. So when I heard that Missguided were launching their own range I was over the moon. Whilst I am a little disappointed they don't do above a size 24 yet, I still see it as a great start!

Anyway, Missguided - here's what I would have spent, if you stocked my size!

While I was on the site, I thought I would have a nosey at what sales had been like. Obviously I can't check every time, but some items I checked had (un?)surprising results. For example the splash print midi skirt above has sold out in the 2 largest sizes it stocks (22 and 24) and the dogtooth skater dress is only available in the smallest size they stock (16). Interesting that the larger sizes are doing.. Surely that shows that there is a need for these larger sizes.

These are just some of my favourite Missguided items and what I could see myself in if they did ever decide to stock above a size 24 - we can but hope!

What Missguided items are your faves?
