Using Primark To The Maxi

This weekend my mum and I headed to Primark for a bit of a shopping spree! Primark always makes me a little sad because of them not doing a 'proper' plus size range - but we can only hope! That said, I never come out of Primark empty handed!

When it comes to bargain shopping, Primark is another reason to IGNORE CLOTHES SIZES!!! Primark goes up to a size 22 if you are lucky, but often you can get items in a size 20. I can hear plenty of you going.. Oh I am much bigger than a size 20, that'll never work for me - but trust me it does!!

This maxi skirt came with a hefty price tag of.... £10!!!! A tenner for a maxi skirt - amazing! I go around the store seeing what has stretch to it and this skirt didn't disappoint. The skirt I am wearing in the pictures is a size 20... I am, as you can see quite a bit bigger than that!

The skirt is really long (this is pulled up to right under my bust) so it would be perfect for someone taller too! It's really stretchy and generous, so it doesn't cling too much which I like for summer! It also comes in a massive range of colour and patterns, I wish I had bought more, and to be honest with you - I probably will go back for more.

The top is an old Forever 21+ top, flip flops are also from Primark (£1!) and so is the heart necklace (£2)

If you do just one thing next time you pass Primark, go in, play with the clothes, stretch the, hold them against your body and think about how you can make it work for you. I bet, most of you if you go into store with an open mind can find an item or two to suit you.

Let me know how you get on!

OOTD : British Plus Size Fashion Weekend

Just a very quick post today - a look at what I wore to British Plus Size Fashion Weekend. I am a little bit bored of normal dresses and leggings at the moment - just because that is all I seem to wear! So I am trying to break out and wear something a little different - BPSFW was my first time doing this!

Jumper - Matalan - this is about 3 years old and this is the first time I have worn it!
Skater dress - ASOS
Sweet leggings - Primark
Boots - Primark

Debz necklace - Black Heart Creatives
Heart necklace - Primark

There really isn't much that I can say about these leggings, except that I love them!! They're from Primark, a size 16 and a bargain price of £6.00! Yet another lesson that you can pick up bargain clothes just about wherever, as long as you ignore clothes sizes!

Do you have funky, unique clothes in your wardrobe?

Where's Wally? He's At The One One Three Fashion Show

On Monday I was invited down to the One One Three Fashion show in Angel. Held at the Metal Works in Islington I was excited to see what the new collection would be like!

The venue is great for a fashion show, with a funky unique setting and plenty of space for people to be able to sit and watch the show - sadly the show was over in the blink of an eye but it was still nice to see the pieces.

I hope the video works - Its the girls come off of the catwalk at the end of the show. It's just taken on my phone but hopefully it gives you an idea of what you can expect!

From what I have seen of the collection it's going bolder than ever - big t shirt dresses, lots of tartan, a tutu and plenty of colour, which is a massive plus point in my opinion! I didn't get any photos as the light was too bright - bad blogger I know. I will post as soon as I know when the collect will be out!

What I Wore

As another nod to dressing a bit differently I decided to mix it up and wear my Where's Wally? t shirt. Before I would have dressed up in a dress and lots of jewellery, so it was nice to go a bit different for a change. The leggings are actually One One Three leggings though - which I can highly recommend!

Where's Wally?

When Lucia from U Can't Wear That told me she was going clothes shopping in Primark, I had to do a double take. I know, I talk about igoring clothes sizes but it is still something I am trying to educate myself in. Lucia is a similar size to myself, so if she could fit into Primark, I wanted a piece!

I had a browse and couldn't resist this funky Where's Wally? t-shirt. It was a bargain price of £6 and it had to be mine!

I was worried about the length of the top, but I just chucked it on over a basic red new look skater dress - problem solved! This top is a size 20 (which I am not) so it just goes to show that you have to mess around with sizes & see what fits you - ignore the labels!!

Have you picked up any Primark bargains?

Comfy Casuals

Last weekend I made the journey home to be a bridesmaid - you can see the post here. My family live in Lancashire which means that journeying home usually takes between 3-4 hours door to door so I obviously want to be comfortable when I travel.

Here's what I wore this weekend:

Dress: ASOS
Leggings: Love Ur Curves
Cardigan: Pink Clove
Boots: Primark
Belt: Yours Clothing

When you're travelling, going up and down the tube stairs and then on a packed train with a heavy suitcase you really dont want to be layered up to much because you just get too hot and bothered too quickly. This is perfect for travelling because it's comfy to wear, cosy and I can easily remove the cardigan if I get too hot!

What are your comfortable 'go to' items?

Skater Girl Indulges

I know I rant quite a lot about body image issues, but as a BBW blog I feel it is important to also bring you plus size bargains and clothes that I like. I know that as a self-confessed fat chick it can be hard to fit clothes you like, that fit, that you can actually afford.

One of my new-found faves is ASOS Curve. I know I am quite late to the party with this website, but I really am loving everything that they have on offer at the moment.

Last week I picked up this bargain of a grey skater dress and decided to wear it to Club Indulge on Saturday.

Skater Dress With Sweetheart Neckline And Short Sleeve

I really like the fit of the dress and the fact that it is long enough to wear without leggings - although it would look pretty funky teamed up with leggings. That is the beauty of a dress like this, the choice is yours! I found it very flattering around the bust and it was more than comfortable to wear all night. I bought a size down from my usual size and it still fit fine. For just £15.00 in their current ASOS Curve sale, it really is a must have for any wardrobe. Get yours here

I teamed it up with my other new found love - a necklace from Black Heart Creatives. I have three of these now - I'll blog about my other favourite necklace another time. I got comments on my necklace all night long, with loads of other ladies wanting to get their hands on one!

I wore the outfit to Club Indulge - which is a relatively new plus size party that was held in London Bridge. Held in champagne bar right next to the Hilton Hotel the summer mixer event did threaten to be ruined by rain but actually the 4th Club Indulge was quite possibly my favourite one yet. The next one is at the end of August and if you haven't been to one before, I would recommend it!

The night did get a bit blurry - I blame the wine!
Dress: ASOS Curve
Shoes: Primark
Belt: Yours Clothing (old season)
Necklace: Black Heart Creatives

What did you get up to this weekend?

Once You Go Black...

As I went out last night I wore two outfits yesterday... I debated between two short posts and one massive one & decided to split the posts up!

Once again I decided to showcase a pair of my new Love Ur Curves leggings and opted for the blue leggings with white hearts. I found this to be a great fit, but they are longer than the plain/block coloured leggings i also picked up. It wasn't a problem, but maybe something to be aware of.

As they are patterned leggings I had wondered what I would be able to wear them with. Earlier this week I picked up a black skater dress on sale for £20.00 in Evans and realised it would be perfect. Anyone who knows me, knows that wearing black isn't something I do very often, so i did have to dress it up with a large pink statement necklace.

The Evans dress was lovely, but a little baggy for me, So I tucked it with a belt and gave it a bit more shape. The LOVE necklace I picked up Primark ages ago and have been looking for an outfit to wear it with. I think the length of the dress allows you to see just enough of the leggings for the pattern to not be too overbearing.

You'll have to excuse the poses - I am still getting used to this posing malarky!

I really enjoyed this outfit and can definitely see me using more black in my wardrobe with the right colourful pieces added to it!

Do you have any key colours, styles or patterns in your wardrobe?

Dress Sizes Are Pants.

(Warning, this posts contains big pants (although not me wearing them), do not read on if you don't want to see photos of big knickers!)

If you have any interest in plus size fashion (or indeed 'normal' fashion for want of a better word) then you have probably read all sorts of theories and opinions on dress sizes. We all know that dress sizes are how we decide what to pick up off of a rail in a shop - but exactly what use are they?

I learnt a few weeks ago that there is no set rules for dress sizes. You would assume that there would be some kind of industry standard when it comes to dress sizes and the measurement that each dress size must be, but actually there is nothing! I don't just mean when it comes to plus size, or bigger sizes I mean in general - there is nothing to say that a certain size of dress should match a certain industry standard of measurement.

Breaking The Mould

For ages now I have been told by my fellow fatties to ignore clothes sizes and just go with what fits but I'll be honest, that has always been something I struggled with. When looking on clothing rails or websites I always assumed that if they didn't have 'my size' then there was no point parting with my hard earned cash. However the truth is that there is no such thing as 'my size' because the sizes from store to store and even cut of dress varies so massively.

Last week I was told by a friend that she wears Primark knickers... now, as this friend and I are similar sizes and I know that Primark generally go up to a size 20 in underwear I wasn't sure whether to believe her claims! However she insisted that their stretchy underwear made the perfect fit.

For £1.70 a pair I couldn't resist trying and today went on an underwear shopping spree.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love colour and so these knickers were right up my street (I also came away with some rainbow socks, but the less said about them the better).

All of these are in an 18-20 (They might come in a 20-22 I'm not sure, they didn't have any in the Primark I visited) and they all fit! Now, you have probably guessed I am quite a bit bigger than a size 18. But these knickers fit perfectly and their patterns are fun and exciting, just what you want from fun underwear like this!

So.... Lesson learnt from me for sure!! It is much harder with online shopping but when you are out and about and can feel the clothes give them a stretch, hold them up to your body and see how they will fit you... The labels mean nothing, if it fits it fits! Online shopping is harder but read blogger reviews and trial and error will soon have your wardrobe bursting with clothes in an array of sizes!

Have a great weekend
