December 3, 2021 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Although you might think that you’ll never find yourself in a position to need legal advice, the truth is that none of us knows when we might need it! That doesn’t mean that you’re suddenly going to become a hardened criminal but things like workplace injuries, putting together a will and even arranging power of attorney are things that we might all need help with in the future. So, here are some things to consider when seeking legal advice.

What Do They Specialise In?

It would be pretty impossible for someone to know everything about the whole of UK law, so make sure you check when they specialise in and that they’ll be in a position to help you. For example, a conveyancing solicitor would be able to help you arrange to buy a house but might not have the expertise to assist with wills and probate. Most solicitor firms will have full details on their website of what they offer, so getting an idea of what offer legal advice in shouldn’t be too much of a struggle.

Are They Local?

Although you won’t always need the services of a local solicitor, it can be a good idea to check where they are in case you need to visit their offices. That said, lots of them are able to work remotely and offer great online service so it isn’t a deal-breaker, but just knowing how things will work and what you’re getting into before you commit to using their legal services is a good idea.

Do They Have a Good Reputation?

Much like any other services that you hire, you should check what their clients are saying before you sign up to them. The good news is that these days it is easy to check out reviews that have been left online so getting a solid idea of how good a solicitors services are before you sign a contract with them doesn’t need to be too tough.
