I know that this comes from a place of privilege, but my answer is nearly always yes – if you can. I am sure we have all had times where we just feel fed up – there is no reason for it, there isn’t even one thing we can pinpoint as being wrong – we just don’t feel ourselves. If this is you and the answer is should I go outside today? If you can, then yes.
Should I Go Outside Today?
When I saw get outside, I don’t even mean very far or anything adventurous. I know throughout lockdown last year, even just being able to sit in the garden made a massive difference to how I felt and my mood. I would sometimes just take myself outside into the garden with a drink and my phone, or a magazine and just take some time for myself – it really helped. We are lucky to have a little outdoor space, so if you don’t have this, perhaps a walk around the block or a little wander on your street would be helpful? If you can.
The Great Outdoors
Regatta have invited me to tell you about their power of nature campaign – where they look at outdoor activities that can help us to relax. I am really lucky that now I live in Hampshire I am surrounded by some beautiful scenery and it really does make all the difference. One of my favourite places to visit is a local pond – it can sometimes be busy, so we tend to go when it is quieter and just sit and take in the scenic views. We’ve spotted some lovely wildlife while visit there & it really does leave me going home with a spring in my step. Being outdoors and surrounded by nature, doing whatever activity it is that you enjoy can definitely help with relaxation and feeling more calm for me, I hope it does for you too!

They have lots of different ideas for what you can do in the great outdoors and you can always adapt these or come up with your own. The weather is getting better and the evenings a lighter so I hope we can all have a little time in the sunshine over the next few weeks – fingers crossed spending more time with friends and family too!
What is the one thing in the great outdoors you’re looking forward to doing? I really want to go to the beach and see the sea when the weather is nice again!
