Is Online Dating Right For Me? Over recent years we have definitely seen an increase in the number of people talking about online dating – there is certainly no longer a taboo about meeting your partner this way. Gone are the days of having to make up an elaborate story about how you met to avoid having to admit you met on an Essex dating website.
Is Online Dating Right For Me?
I am sure you all know by now that I met my partner on an online dating website and we’ve been together for nearly 3 years; so it most certainly can work out. Whether you’re considering joining a Christian dating site to meet someone with the same religious beliefs as you, you’re checking out the local dating options or you’re just curious about whether meeting someone new is for you, you might well be wondering is online dating right for me?
The truth is that no one can really say whether it is right for you or not, because dating and meeting new people is a really personal journey. What I will say is that there are no right or wrongs and that you have absolutely nothing to lose by joining a site and seeing what happens. After all, a few fun chats online can be a great way to pass the time, if nothing else.

Joining a Website
If you haven’t been on a dating website before it can seem like a daunting process, but it really doesn’t have to be. The signup process is usually pretty easy – and you’ll just need to think about what you want your profile to say and what photos you want to use. Be honest in your profile about what you’re looking for and who you would like to meet to give yourself the best possible chance of meeting a good match.
The great news is that there are lots of different dating websites out there, so finding one that suits you should be easy – for example, you could join a plus size dating site or you could opt for one based on religion or something else entirely!
Meeting Someone New
Once you have signed up, it’s time to start looking at how to meet someone new. You can, of course, rely on them to message you but where is the fun in that? I have to admit, my boyfriend did message me first but I did spend some time messaging others too, after all the worst they can say is no.
By taking the plunge and messaging other people you’re putting yourself out there and giving yourself the best possible chance of meeting a match.
Meeting Up In Real Life
If you do decide to meet up in real life, the best advice I can give you is to keep it casual and stay safe. I met my boyfriend on Saturday morning in Wetherspoons – I like Wetherspoons as an option because I can order my own drink with the app and it’s nice and public. I got there before him so I could compose myself – and choose a table that I liked! We ordered breakfast and I introduced him to the unlimited coffee machine in Wetherspoons and we were a match from there. Nearly 3 years on we live together, have 2 cats and he’s teaching me to drive, so it can be bad really.
Online dating is a great way to meet new people. Is online dating right for me? you might ask… Well, you won’t know unless you try!
Let me know how you get on!
