It’s estimated that by 2023 around 1 billion people will be listening to a podcast at least once a month. They’re relatively new in the grand scheme of things when it comes to social media, but they have taken off massively. Here’s a look at 3 reasons to listen to a Podcast:
There’s Something For Everyone
Language learning app Babbel have recently put together an infographic about podcasts and it made me realise just how diverse the world of podcasts are. I’ve listened to a few body positive podcasts in my time and definitely intend to make more time to do that in the future. The infographic “what can a podcast teach you?” reminded me that there’s such a range of podcasts out there – so whatever you fancy listening to there will be something for you. Content creators come from all backgrounds and they all have their own message to spread which means that whether you want something light-hearted, factual or educational there will be something to match what you need – and that the number of podcasts out there is growing all the time.

You Can Listen When You Want
If you’re anything like me, finding the time to sit down and actually read a book without distraction is a near impossibility – I always get distracted by my phone, the TV, the dog etc. What I have found with podcasts is that I can listen when I want and even if there is something going in, I don’t have to worry too much about being distracted. I’ve actually listened to most of the podcasts that I have in the background while getting some work done or on the train for a long journey. The infographic by Babbel explores that around 60 million hours of podcasts are listened to every week by Britons – a rate that has increased by 50% since 2019, so I am clearly not the only one that’s managing to find time to listen to them when it suits!
There is Always Something New To Be Discovered
We definitely live in an age where being a content creator is popular and as such, across numerous social media networks there is always someone new to be discovered and podcasts are certainly no exception. Individual content creators often creator podcasts on topics that they are passionate about. Places like Babbel put together information and educational podcasts on a range of topics that match their brand. In the case of Babbel, it is about teaching people linguistics around learning a new language but also introducing people to the culture of the language that they are learning, to further improve their knowledge.
