Moving House At Short Notice

December 29, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Moving House At Short Notice – If you’ve ever moved house before, you know it can be stressful. A lot  of the time this stress can be reduced by being organised and getting things done in advance, but we all know with home moves that isn’t always possible. If you’re someone that lives in rented accommodation, you will know that often everything seems to happen all at once & the actual moving day comes at you
in a rush! Buying a house is no easier, with the struggle to get everything happening at a time that suits everyone – hard if you have a long chain of buyers and sellers to work with.

Moving House At Short Notice

However, if you are looking to move house at the last minute because you’ve used a sell house fast service or your house sale has just completed sooner than expected, then there are
some ways to make things easier.

Get Organised With Packing

If you know that you’re going to be moving home in the near future then get organised with packing. Start with a declutter and work on getting things out of your house that you no longer need or like. If you’re anything like me, you’ll have drawers and boxes full of things you never use – so start with these!

You can then start to pack away things you know you’re not going to need before you move. Make sure you have some sort of structure to your packing as this will make life easier in the long-run. Invest in decent packing boxes and ensure everything is labelled with what is inside. Try to keep boxes for each room separately and declutter your stuff as you go, you don’t want to be moving stuff you don’t need! These steps will make life easier when it comes to unpacking everything at the other end.

Choose The Right Companies To Help

You can also spend some time researching companies that can help you move. Contacting companies to get an idea of their full moving service cost is a good idea too.  I found that using a company to help actually becomes priceless, because if you use a company that know what they’re doing; your moving day is made so much easier – and that is worth paying for.

Keep Things You’ll Need Nearby

When you’re packing up the last of your bits, keep a box open so you can put inside things you’ll need – tea and coffee, medication, some biscuits for example. This is especially important whether you have used a service to sell my house fast Atlanta (or elsewhere) or are following the more traditional house-selling process, because, of course, there are always going to be things that you’re likely to need before you get everything into the new house. That way, at least there is no panic for time because you have easy access to all of your essentials.

Plan For All Eventualities

Try to make a plan for if anything goes wrong, do you have somewhere you can store some stuff or a friend who might let you sleep on their sofa? Most of the time things will go right and your planning will have been for nothing, but if anything does go wrong you’ll be glad to have a backup plan to help make sure your stress levels do not go through the roof.

Look After Yourself

Be gentle on yourself. Make sure you eat a good breakfast and not be afraid to ask for help. Moving house is a lot of work, especially if you have a lot of stuff. Take your time and know that you don’t have to do it all of your own. Of course, the best bit is that you get to start a new life in your new home – enjoy!
