Titchfield Abbey
Titchfield Abbey is a great place to visit if you’re looking for an affordable day out because the only cost you have to enter is parking (£2). The Abbey itself is full of history and plenty to see, with picnic tables and plenty of greenery and space for children to run around. Take a picnic and take in some of the history, perfect for a warm day! There’s plenty of parking and you’ll find posters around the place that show you want the Abbey would have looked like and the layout of rooms etc so you can step back in history and imagine what this impressive place would have been like in its former glory.
Marwell Zoo
Marwell Zoo is an amazing zoo to visit, without the hustle and bustle that some other busier zoos have. Instead, you’re encouraged to take things at your own pace and take in all of the animals that call Marwell Zoo home. If you want to get closer then they offer a range of animal experiences which allow you to get up close and personal with your favourite animals. Animal experiences UK that they offer include giraffes and penguins – where you’ll get to meet them face to face, prepare their food and feed them – so much fun! Your entry to the feeding experience gives you access to the rest of the zoo too where you can visit the Tropical House, watch Meerkats play and even see a Pygmy hippopotamus.
The Beach
Hampshire is lucky to be on the coastline and there is no end to the beaches that you can visit while you’re here. Portsmouth is great if you want somewhere vibrant and busy and Southsea Pier offers similar, but perhaps a little quieter. However, places like Hayling Ireland and Fareham are often really quiet & have plenty of enjoyable walks along the coast as well as places to enjoy the scenery, launch a kayak and even enjoy fish and chips – perfect!
Of course, you could talk forever of things to do in Hampshire – the museums in Portsmouth, the wild ponies at the New Forest and the beautiful cliffs of Bournemouth are all worth a visit; it really is such a beautiful part of the country.
