It might be a little (a lot!) cooler today, but headlines and weather forecasts say that we’re in for another heatwave – where temperatures will reach over 30 degrees again. Whilst I am generally a fan of summer and the nicer weather I know that dealing with hot weather can be tough – here are some tips.
Plan Your Day
Although it isn’t always possible, planning your day around the hot weather really helps. For example, I get my housework done in the morning before it gets too warm – I know washing will dry quickly which is always a bonus. I walk the dog early in the morning and plan to go to the supermarket etc later in the day if needed. I am lucky that I work from home, but getting these bits done before the hot weather takes its toll really does help.
Dress Accordingly
It stands to reason that dressing accordingly really does help. You might be wondering how you can stop sweating so much and this is often down to the clothes that you’re wearing as well as the activities you’re taking part in. That said, it’s the summer, IT’S HOT and no one is going to care if you’re a little sweaty. However, I recently stumbled across Social Citizen and they offer underarm sweat pads; which really help if you’re sweating a lot. These come built into their t-shirts which come in a range of colours and in both men’s and women’s fit; although of course always wear the fit you prefer! For transparently, they currently go up to a 2XL in women so I would love to see this size range expanded in the future, but it does seem like a decent idea in general & I can see that it is something lots of people would benefit from.

Air the House
I read this online a few weeks ago and didn’t really think it would make much difference but it does. During the day where possible, we keep our curtains closed (many say keep your windows closed too but we didn’t) and then as soon as it gets a little cooler in the evening we open all of these and all of our windows – we’ve even got a stairgate by the front door so we can have that open without the dog escaping. You have to wait for the sun to have gone down and the temperature to drop but doing this means that the house lets out all of the hot air and gives everything a much fresher feel, it really worked for us.
If you have any tips for dealing with hot weather I would love you to share them
