To simplify things, we’ve decided to tackle just one potential security solution for businesses – High-speed PVC roller doors. We explore what they are, why they can be highly effective, and some of their potential limitations.

What are high-speed PVC roller doors?

How Can PVC Roller Doors Improve Business Security

High-speed PVC roller doors are a kind of high-speed closing, typically used in spaces such as warehouses and factories. As the name would suggest, they’re made out of PVC, a high-strength thermoplastic material that, while not as strong as metal, is much quicker to open and close.

These kinds of doors, available from suppliers such as LBS Group, can be opened and closed in a matter of seconds, making them a highly convenient security solution in fast-paced environments.

Security benefits of high-speed PVC roller doors

There are a couple of main security benefits to using high-speed PVC roller doors in your business.

Ease of use

The main benefit is how easy these doors are to use. For a security solution to be effective, it also needs to be practical, causing a minimal impact on workers’ ability to go about their days. If it’s not easy to use, it might not be used at all.

In fast-paced environments such as warehouses and factories, where there’s a constant stream of deliveries coming in and loads leaving, any security doors need to be fast and efficient to open and close.

Prevent unauthorised entry

The main intended function of high-speed PVC roller shutter doors is to stop people wandering into factories and warehouses, whether they have good or bad intentions. They provide a simple, effective barrier against unauthorised entry – when they are open, there will be people around to stop any potential intruders.

Not only do these kinds of shutters limit unauthorised access, but they’re also essential for climate control as well. It can be practically impossible to keep large spaces warm if it takes minutes to open and close the doors, especially if that process is then repeated hundreds of times each day.

Not a standalone solution

It’s important to note that high-speed PVC roller doors are not intended to be used as a single standalone security solution. While PVC is relatively strong, if a determined intruder wanted to cut through it and there wasn’t anyone around to stop them, it wouldn’t take them long at all.

In almost all scenarios, it will also be necessary to have a primary security measure in place – likely some form of shutter made from metal.

If you’re uncertain as to which security solutions will be best for you, then it’s important to seek advice from a specialist security consultant. They’ll be able to come and conduct a thorough assessment of the measurements that you currently have in place, and then based on that assessment provide you with a list of effective changes you can make.
