Things to Consider When Starting Your Business

July 28, 2022 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Let’s face it when you think about the things to consider when starting your business there are going to be hundreds of things you need to take into account. Some of these will be generic across any business and some of them will be specific to the industry that you’re wanting to be part of. One thing that is important for any business is to consider a pathway to growing your business & how you will scale things up effectively when this happens.

Helping Your Business to Grow

One of the things you’ll want to consider is how you are going to help your business to grow. A big chunk of this is about your business model, what you want to offer your customers and how happy they are with their experience with you. However, on top of that, you might want to develop a sales funnel, work with a company to increase your social media presence and even work out a plan for things like customs clearance for international buying and selling in advance.

As a small business owner, one thing I always do is reach out to clients old & new every month or two – just to ask how they are, if I can assist them with anything etc. This helps to keep me on their radar and definitely helps in terms of generating business for me on a regular basis – both through those clients directly and through anyone they might recommend me to.

Coping with the Growth

As your business changes, develops and grows it is important to keep up with everything that might be needed in terms of running a larger business. For example, the way you do a tax return might change depending on the type of business that you run. If you’re selling physical goods then the way you source these and what is needed might change – for example, the importing and exporting of goods will have changed when we left the EU.

Things like customs clearance regulation is something that you most certainly want to get right; otherwise, you could face significant delays when it comes to getting your hands on your stock. Twill is a logistics company well-versed at working with businesses of all shapes and sizes, even those new to international growth. They understand that logistics, customs clearance and customs arrangements can seem complicated and are on hand to help businesses with their international growth. They have even launched a handy Go Global Guide – which as the name suggests is a guide to helping ensure that your business freight goes through import and/or export smoothly and without delay.

What Happens if You Grow quicker than Expected?

It might seem like a dream come true to have a business that grows quickly – after all, who doesn’t want to sell more items to more customers? However, if you’re not prepared for the level of growth that your company undertakes then you’re likely to be left with lots of disgruntled customers as you are unable to fulfil their order needs. Rather than worry about this at the time, it is much wiser to come up with a plan of action now. Of course, if your business grows very quickly you may still struggle to keep up, but working with a company like Twill on your plans to go global will help to keep any disruption should that happen to a minimum.
