For as long as I can remember, my niece has loved reading – she might be nearly 4 (can you believe it) but she’s loved books and reading since she was a tiny little dot.

Not being local to Dotty gives me the perfect excuse to spoil her – and often this means sending her new books. Sometimes I’ll shop in charity shops and take them up with me when I go and sometimes I buy online and send them directly to her. The whole family buy her books and she currently loves video calling me and reading me her newest book; kids are amazing arent they? On occasion, I have had the same book at home so we can read together, which is something that she loves.
Encouraging Reading
I think reading is really lovely and as a kid was something that I really enjoyed and was encouraged to do. I loved the Famous Five series by Enid Blyton and remember having a list of all the books so I could tick them off as I read them, with the aim of reading every single one that had been released. Now that dotty is getting older she’s really enjoying more interactive and intricate books, so it’s important to me that I can shop for those and buy her things she likes.

I recently stumbled across Books 2 Door, which is an online bookshop with what seems like thousands of choices in kids’ books. What I found particularly helpful was that I could search their fiction collection section and filter it by age, meaning that I could be confident that the one(s) I chose for Dotty would be suitable. I wanted something slightly above her age because she’s a clever egg and I wanted something she could grow into! They have some collections of multiple books in one and these went down really well when I sent them to her.

The Books 2 Door website allows you to search by price, genre, brands, authors, publishers and a whole heap of other categories which means that searching for the perfect book and choosing children’s books is easier than ever – I’ll definitely be shopping with them again!
If you have any book recommendations for a niece that loves reading about just about anything then I’d love to hear them.
