How To Make a Bad Day Get Better

May 9, 2021 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

We have all had those days, where we get out of bed and everything seems to go wrong. Although most of us accept that things can go wrong, I am sure we would all agree that the worst days seem to happen at the most inconvenient times! However, if you’re wondering how to make a bad day get better – I thought I would share some tips with you.

Tomorrow is a New Day

One of the first things to do is to accept that tomorrow is a new day. This won’t make your problems miraculously disappear, but it does mean that you have a chance to start again tomorrow. Sometimes we have longer-term problems and they can fully affect the next day too, however often a good sleep and a think about what to do helps. It is important not to put too much pressure on yourself over one day too. We can’t do it all and we definitely can’t do it all in a day. So accept what you can change today and make a plan for what you may be able to change in the future.

Have a BackUp Plan

Having a backup plan is always a good idea. For example, if the pub you want to visit is booked; having an idea of a 2nd choice of which pub to visit instead makes the whole process much less stressful. For bigger problems, you can even look into things like temporary car insurance – which means you can buy a car straight away, sort out some insurance just to get you through a couple of days and then worry about the rest later. It might also mean that you can insure a friend to drive your car if for some reason you’re unable to and you still need to get around. There are lots of things like this, where you can simply get the same result but having a plan of what to do when things go wrong – just in case.

Ditch The Plans Altogether

Plans are great – I love plans! However, if things go wrong there is nothing wrong with ditching the plans altogether. This is probably one I struggle with the most, but I am trying. For example, if I have arranged a day out and the weather is terrible, I feel like people will have a bad time and that is on me. However, realistically these things happen and I definitely can’t control the rain! So, be willing to ditch or rearrange plans completely. This definitely means a much less stressful day and is definitely one way to consider how to make a bad day get better.
