I know I have written about winter before and I’ll be honest with you, I probably will write about it again. The truth is that winter is absolutely my least favourite time of year and that I think we all need tips on how to navigate it. We’re currently being pretty battered by a storm, so knowing how to stay warm is a must.
Keep on Top of House Maintenance
Whether you like it or not, house maintenance is definitely one of the keys to making sure your house stays warm and that winter is a more pleasant experience. So, make sure that your windows are still in good condition and not letting in the cold, the same for doors! It is a good idea to get in touch with a plumbing company to have your boiler checked every couple of years; although this won’t stop all boiler problems it can help to nip some in the bud before they become more of an issue. Then, of course, you know who to contact for boiler repair in Brighton, or indeed local to you should the worst happen and you need the services of a gas safe engineer to fix your broken boiler.

Be Efficient
When you have your heating switched on, try to make sure that you are using it in the most efficient way possible. So for example, switch off radiators in rooms that are not being used to save this wasted energy. Closing doors of rooms you are in can also help to ensure that they are heated up much quicker – meaning you need your heating switched on less, which can only be a good thing when you consider the rising cost of energy.
Dress For The Time of Year
Layering up even when inside the house is a must of keeping warm and surviving winter. Make sure you have fluffy socks, warm clothes and even blankets for the sofa so that no matter how cold it gets outside, you can be sure that inside your home you’ll be staying warm and cosy.
If you have any tips for how to survive winter I’d love you to share them below.
