Dress to Impress and make a Statement in the Process – There is an old saying that tells us you only ever get one chance to make a first impression, and this is particularly true when you enter the dating market. Getting to know someone online is all part of the dance these days, and that’s a good thing for both sides, but when the first actual meeting takes place it’s cards on the table time.

Even those people who have been meeting guys and girls for a number of years will still get those all too familiar butterflies as the big moment approaches. This is the time when the waiting is finally over. You may have charmed someone on the web for a number of weeks, but how will you continue that momentum in person?
You will hear plenty of advice about being yourself, acting naturally and not trying too hard, but it may not be easy to remember all of this in the heat of the moment. Just before that meeting, be sure to take a deep breath and to think – and talk – slowly. If you are anxious, you may start babbling like a nervy chatterbox, and that won’t help.
Concentrate more on what you say than how you look
Unless your date is a particularly shallow person, he or she will be more impressed by the things you say than the way you look, but of course your appearance will still have a bearing on the success of the meeting. That’s why it’s vital to remember to dress for the occasion and the venue. Remember this when you’re picking an outfit.
Sometimes it doesn’t help if you look too perfect. Your date is looking to meet a person, not a china doll, so make an effort but don’t get overly obsessed about it. It doesn’t matter if you are a total novice or someone who goes on dates all the time, you need to work at it from the start. The web has made things easier for us in many ways, of course, but it may perhaps have taken a little of the wow factor away from a first date. The benefits are greater than the drawbacks, however.
It may not be possible to always make the perfect impression, but there are of course times when everything seems to go just right. The dating scene in the UK is much the same as it is anywhere else, so good advice applies no matter where you live. The most important thing is to have fun, so go and enjoy it!
