Watching Six – Plus Size Review of Lyceum Theatre Sheffield

Last night, I went to Sheffield to watch Six The Musical live – and I have to say, it was amazing! I already knew the songs so I knew it would be something I’d enjoy, but the whole stage show was incredible. So, you’re here for a plus size review of Lyceum Theatre – what was it really like?

Let me start this by saying I went for the cheapest seats possible – which means that they are advertised as potentially restricted view. We were very high up on the balcony, which isn’t for everyone, but we had a view that we were happy with. We sat on the aisle, which always makes it easier anyway.

Seating-wise, I did find the width of the seat pretty comfortable, but do be aware of the armrests. At first i didn’t realise there were any armrests, so I plonked myself backwards on the seat and hit a tiny armrest. I would say it’s only a couple of inches long so I didn’t notice it when I first looked at the seat. I found them frustrating because I wasn’t able to actually use them as an armrest because they were so short, and it also wasn’t possible to fold them out so they were there the whole time.

Leg room-wise, it wasn’t the most comfortable, but I found it manageable – my partner is taller than me, and he found the seats quite cramped.

As I mentioned, we were high up in the balcony seats, which was our choice, which meant there were a few flights of stairs before we reached our seats. However, I did see that there were lifts, so you could definitely make use of them. However, the seats in the balcony were tiered, so depending on where you are, you would likely have to navigate some stairs

The show itself was incredible. The set was simple and the cast smaller than many musicals I have seen, but that didn’t take away from the show itself. The vocals were incredible, as were the costumes; and I already knew I was a fan of the soundtrack, so it was a win-win.

We parked at a multi-storey car park a few minutes’ walk away, but I did notice some disabled parking bays slightly closer to the theatre too! There were plenty of places to go for food close by too – we passed Cosmo on our walk down!
