3 Relationship Essentials – Despite what people tell you, being in a relationship isn’t always easy. We’re bought up with a Disney-romance view of relationships and whilst it can be lovely to be considered a princess being rescued by a prince the truth is that sometimes you’ll argue about the washing up and sometimes you’ll even argue about why you’re arguing over the washing up. That doesn’t mean relationships can’t be amazing, they really can – but there are some relationship essentials to keep in mind.
3 Relationship Essentials
Spending Time Together
Life is busy which means that we don’t always get to spend as much time together as we would like, which isn’t always the best for long-term relationships. As busy as life is, try to ensure that you make time for each other and to spend time together. Plan a day out together or even just to sit and eat dinner together one evening a week. It can seem like a small thing, but just that chance to talk properly, reconnect and catch up can make all the difference.
Talking
Communication is important for any relationship – whether that’s work, friends, family or romantic. Too often we keep things bottled up or don’t talk about the things we want to for fear of being judged or upsetting the other person, but in the long term that usually makes things worse. Being unhappy in a relationship or stressed about things can lead to problems in the bedroom – a woman not enjoying herself or a man experiencing erectile dysfunction for example. These are issues usually ignored, but that doesn’t help them improve.
Instead, talking to someone like Access Doctor, who currently have a campaign to encourage people to talk about bedroom issues can help to get things out in the open & stop them from becoming such an issue.
The Practical Stuff
One of the things that people often don’t talk about when it comes to making relationships work is the practical stuff – especially when it comes to living with someone new. You should talk about the bills, decide how you’ll work out money and budgeting, who does what around the house & even things like how you want the house to be. If you have lived on your own then you have probably developed your own habits and so will your partner, so talking these through and working out how you can make them work when living together is a must!
If you have any tips for what you consider relationship essentials I’d love to hear them
