911 Boyband Tour – What To Expect

Anyone who knows me from ‘back in the day’ knows that 911 were my boyband of choice. I’m still a pop music, boyband lover at heart, but nothing has ever come close to the love teenage me had for them. I ran a fan website, went to numerous gigs, collected ALL the merch and even when they split up, supported their solo careers. Of course, life happens, and I haven’t been able to get to a gig for a long time – until now!

911 Boyband Tour – What To Expect

The first thing you can expect is to be transported back 30 years to the good old days. A majority of the audience was a similar age to me, and no doubt worried that they’d be able to remember all of the songs. Let me tell you now – everyone sang their hearts out, and every song felt so familiar. The dancing, the choice of songs, the banter with the audience – all took me back to a 911 boyband tour from many years ago, and it felt good to be back!

The Venue

I went to the second night of the tour, which was held at Huddersfield Town Hall. I hadn’t ever been there before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I parked in the Civic Centre Car Park (free after 6 pm), which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the venue (it’s a very gentle slope). The stalls and concert hall are upstairs, but there is a lift. Once you’re on the hall floor, it is all one level. The seats are set out in rows, and they’re fold-down seats. However, they had metal frames which felt sturdy and no armrests, which is always a win. Of course, as with any venue, the seating is snug, but as soon as 911 came on stage, everyone was dancing in the aisles anyway!

The Set List

I’ll be honest now and say, I can’t remember exactly the list of songs they did and the order they did them in, but if you like the 911 classics then you won’t be disappointed. They did all of the big numbers and some really amazing album tracks. If you liked 911 in the 90’s then they’ll most definitely be tracks that you remember – standouts for me were Baby Come Back To Me, Movin’ On, Wonderland and, of course, Bodyshakin’

What Are 911 Like Now?

911 might well be in their 50s watching them on stage; you’d never know it. My legs hurt today just from being stood watching the conert for a couple of hours (welcome to your 40s), so how they’re doing that night after night is beyond me – and yes, Spike still backflips!

The icing on the Cake

For me, it wouldn’t be a 911 concert without pushing my luck at the stage door after the show – and safe to say, it paid off! They were absolutely lovely, despite it drizzling with rain the whole time. It was a really small group of people that waited for them afterwards, and everyone was respectful and polite. They all took photos with everyone who wanted them and took time to chat to everyone.

10/10 – would do again. In fact, I am going again in a couple of weeks time and I can’t wait!
