The best way to have healthy relationships and to detect red flags

June 7, 2023 by Debz Louise 1 Comment

Healthy relationships are the foundation of people’s physical and emotional well-being.  Nevertheless, couples do not always manage to feel good about themselves or the other person in a relationship. It relies on emotional intelligence to build healthy relationships that avoid the most common red flags.

Emotional intelligence is key to healthy relationships without red flags. It allows us to feel like members of a relationship and, simultaneously, as independent human beings. Emotional health contributes to a process of personal fulfillment and happiness for both; the red flags that generate a lack of respect, self-esteem, and confidence cease to exist. In fact, people who post their ads on websites such as Skokka Sydney know how to detect these signs easily and take care of their physical and emotional integrity.

Nevertheless, how do we have healthy relationships and how to detect red flags?

How do we have healthy relationships?

No relationship is perfect, indeed. There are always differences and disagreements between the two. However, emotional intelligence helps you feel good in a relationship most of the time and solve conflicts effectively and safely. More than love and attraction, it takes work and effort.

Some tips for having a healthy relationship are:

Love yourself

No one can be comfortable or in love in a relationship when they do not love themselves. Self-esteem plays an essential role in healthy relationships, and feeling good about oneself makes for a happy partnership.

Communication

Having each partner talk about their feelings, emotions, fears and frustrations is necessary to strengthen the relationship. Communication makes them understand each other better, learn to deal with problems and meet each other’s needs. Even discussing sexual fantasies and visiting sites like Skokka Sheffield can prevent monotony in sexual intimacy, although it should be a mutually agreed practice.

Trust and honesty

Trust implies honesty in a healthy relationship. It means that the couple feels safe and comfortable with each other because they know they will not hurt each other physically or emotionally. Therefore, it is best to always speak the truth and not keep secrets from each other.

Be clear and honest

One of the ways to have healthy relationships is to be clear about what you are looking for. Being honest with yourself and the other person avoids present and future problems. If you are looking for an open relationship or something more stable, it is essential to talk about it. Nevertheless, if you simply want to enjoy a night with a happy ending, you can do it with a stranger, a friend or with any of the people who publish their ads on websites such as Skokka Ahmedabad. There is no need to cheat on anyone.

Talking about sex

Each partner needs to talk about their likes and dislikes in sex. No one is obligated to do something they do not want to or feel pressured to do so. However, consent is mandatory, whether it is for any practice other than sexual fantasies.

Taking care of sexual and reproductive health

Emotional intelligence also focuses on sexual and reproductive care in a couple’s relationship. Both should look at protecting themselves from STDs and unplanned pregnancies to practice safe and pleasurable sex. A big red flag is when one partner does not want protection.

Red flags: Signs and alerts of an unhealthy relationship

Every couple’s relationship should contribute to self-fulfilment, happiness, connection and independence. If at least one person in the relationship is feeling anxious, worried, stressed or unhappy, you know that something is wrong. The signs of unhealthy relationships often vary, but basically you have to watch out for these warning signs:

  • Limits are not respected.
  • Low affection in the relationship.
  • Saying negative or hurtful things.
  • Feeling that the partner does not listen.
  • Fear of expressing a disagreement.
  • Constant discussions that are not solved.
  • Physical, verbal or psychological abuse.
  • Aggression.
  • Lack of commitment and support.
  • Jealousy and possessive attitude.
  • Checking personal cell phones.
  • Economic violence.

If one or more of these abusive behaviours are detected in a relationship, one piece of advice is to seek professional psychological help. Nevertheless, the best thing to do is end the relationship when the partner does not want to change these behaviour patterns. No one deserves to suffer any abuse of any kind for any reason.

Gaslighting, ghosting and negging

The most obvious red flag is physical, verbal or psychological abuse. It is advisable to stay away. However, more subtle ones should not be tolerated, such as gaslighting, ghosting or negging.

Gaslighting is a type of emotional abuse that makes the victim doubt his or her actions, thoughts and emotions. A person who suffers abuse is never right or in his or her right mind, according to the abuser.

As for ghosting, the abuser walks away whenever he wants, without warning. He stops answering calls and messages and then shows up with lots of affection. It is a repetitive pattern of red flags.

Furthermore, finally, negging is “flattery” intended to lower people’s self-esteem and dominate them. For example, phrases like “you have a very nice hair colour, but that hairstyle does not suit you” or “You’d look better if you lose weight, but you still look good”.
