A Delicious Blogger Catch-up at Maki & Ramen
There is nothing quite like a Friday afternoon spent with people who “get it.” This past week, I headed over to Meadowhall in Sheffield to catch up with three of my lovely blogger friends. When you spend so much time chatting behind a screen, getting together in person for a proper “real life” natter is essential for the soul!
Quick Summary
Is Maki and Ramen Meadowhall Plus Size Friendly?
Yes, Maki & Ramen in Meadowhall’s Oasis Dining Quarter is accessible and great for groups. While the booth seating can be a snug fit for plus-size diners, it is manageable for most.
The restaurant is easy to find on the Upper Level, parking at Meadowhall is free and plentiful, and the food is both delicious and reasonably priced.
Logistics: Parking & Finding the Spot
One of the best things about meeting friends at Meadowhall is the total lack of parking stress. We parked for free (as always at Meadowhall!) and found it incredibly easy to get a spot close to the Oasis entrance.
Maki & Ramen is located right inside the Oasis Dining Quarter on the Upper Level. It’s very easy to spot with its beautiful Japanese-inspired decor—you can’t miss the cherry blossoms! It was the perfect central meeting point for our blogger group.
The Outfit: Comfort Meets Style
For a day of shopping and ramen, comfort was my top priority, but I still wanted to feel put together.

I wore:
- The Dress: A gorgeous gingham piece from Yours Clothing, which I actually scored at a bargain price from the Castleford Outlet (only a short trip from Sheffield if you’re local)
- The Shoes: My trusty Adidas trainers—essential for navigating the long walkways of Meadowhall!
This outfit was perfect for the ‘booth test’—breathable, stretchy, and didn’t feel restrictive while sitting down for a big bowl of noodles.
The Plus Size Seating Review
Let’s talk about the seating. We opted for one of the booths. As a plus-size woman, I always get a little ‘booth anxiety,’ and I’ll be honest—these booths aren’t massively plus-size friendly. They are a bit high and the space between the table and bench is a little tight.
However, for our group, it was totally doable. If you’re worried about space, I’d recommend asking for a freestanding table, but we managed just fine and the atmosphere in the booth was lovely for a proper catch-up.
The Food & Service
The service was fantastic—the staff were attentive without being overbearing, which is exactly what you want when you’re busy chatting with friends.

When it came to ordering, I decided to go for a classic: Chicken and Noodles. Sometimes you just want something simple and satisfying, and this really hit the spot.

The chicken was perfectly cooked—tender and juicy—and the portion of noodles was huge! It was exactly the kind of hearty, ‘hug in a bowl’ meal you want when you’re taking a break from shopping. It was seasoned beautifully, and for the price, I felt like I got a really generous serving. It definitely fueled me up for the rest of our afternoon catch-up!

For a restaurant inside a major shopping centre, the prices were very reasonable (my main was around £15). You definitely feel like you’re getting a high-quality, authentic meal without the ‘mall food’ compromise.
Meadowhall Dining: Why I choose Maki & Ramen over YO! Sushi While I love both, we choose Maki & Ramen this time because the booth seating felt more private for a big blogger catch-up, and the menu felt slightly more “authentic restaurant” than “quick-stop conveyor belt.” Plus, their Chicken Yakisoba is a much more generous portion if you’re hungry!
Final Thoughts: Is Maki and Ramen Meadowhall Worth a Visit?
Overall, our Friday lunch was exactly what I needed. Between the delicious, steaming bowls of ramen and the much-needed catch-up with my three blogger friends, it was a total success. While the seating requires a little bit of “plus-size manoeuvring,” the quality of the food and the friendly service make Maki and Ramen a spot I’d definitely return to.
