Hoover H-Power 300 Review – With 2 cats, 2 dog and a partner, keeping the floors tidy in my house is somewhat of a nightmare. We’ve ditched the carpets in most of the house now, apart from the stairs which does make it easier for keeping on top of things – but I have to say, if those pets could help around the house a little more I’d really appreciate it- I have been trying out a new bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner to see if that helps.
The “2026 Quick Verdict” (Add this at the very top)
Key Takeaway: The Hoover H-Power 300 remains one of the best budget-friendly corded vacuums for pet owners in 2026. While cordless sticks are popular, this 850W cylinder offers consistent suction and a 12m reach that handles heavy pet dander and dog biscuits far better than most battery-operated alternatives.
Hoover H-Power 300 Review
I was recently given the chance to try the H-Power 300 Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner and have to say I was pleasantly surprised! I think I still remember the hoovers when I was younger – big, bulky, heavy and quite frankly, hard work. One of the things I liked about this hoover from the off was how lightweight it was – which means that taking it up and downstairs won’t be too much of an issue for me.
I know that with flooring that isn’t carpeted sometimes hoovers can struggle with picking up bits and pieces but that isn’t the case with this one. They say that it has no and improved suction for all floors and that is certainly something that I say they must have done.
I am not technologically minded at all, but they say it has an 850W motor which makes it more efficient and this shows in how powerful it is. Lola has a tendency to carry dog biscuits around the house and leave them to be found another day – and this hoover seemed to make light work of that. Emptying the bin is easy enough too – it even has a HEPA filter to help with allergies.
How it handles the “Pet Nightmare”:
-
The Suction Power: Most “stick” vacuums lose power as the battery dies. Because this is corded and uses an 850W motor, the suction is just as strong on the last room as it was on the first. It handles the dog biscuits Lola leaves behind and the deep-seated cat fur on our one remaining carpeted area (the stairs) with ease.
-
The HEPA H13 Filter: If you have allergies, this is a non-negotiable. It traps 99.9% of dust and pet dander. Three years in, and with regular filter washing, the air still feels “clean” after a vacuuming session—no “dusty” smell.

Using The Hoover
All in all, I found it easy to use the hoover – the lightweight-ness of it definitely helped. I managed to hoover our house with ease which isn’t always the easiest of tasks with a vacuum cleaner that is more hefty and bulky. I liked that it had a decent length hose to it much meant I could get to all the bits I needed to in each room without needing to unplug from the socket and plug in elsewhere all the time.
That said, my life would still be much easier if I could win the lottery and pay someone else to run my new H-Power 300 around the house for me – fingers crossed for next weekend!
Why I’m Not Switching to Cordless Yet
In 2026, everyone is talking about cordless vacuums, but for a busy home, the H-Power 300 has three major advantages:
-
Full Stair Cleaning: The 2.5m stretch hose is a lifesaver. I can leave the cylinder at the bottom and reach all 13 steps without balancing the machine on a step.
-
No “Battery Anxiety”: I can clean the whole house top-to-bottom without the machine dying halfway through.
-
The 2L Bin Capacity: Most modern stick vacuums have tiny bins. The 2L tank on this Hoover means I’m not running to the bin every five minutes.
What Comes With It?
The great news is that there are some handy accessories that come with the hoover to make things easier – of course, you get the cylinder hoover but you also get a telescopic tube, two stretch hoses, all floors nozzle and a 2-in-1 dusting brush. This means that whatever your vacuuming needs are around the house you can be confident that this decent all-rounder is going to be able to help!
Does the H-Power 300 lose suction over time?
Like most bagless cyclonic vacuums, suction loss is almost always due to a clogged filter rather than a motor fault. To keep the 850W motor performing at its peak, you should empty the 2L bin when it reaches the 'Max' line and wash both the pre-motor and HEPA filters at least once a month.
Is the H-Power 300 suitable for deep-pile carpets?
How do you clean the filters on the H-Power 300?
This model features a washable H13 HEPA filter. To clean it, remove the dust bin, take out the filter, and rinse it under lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Crucially, you must let it air dry for at least 24 hours before putting it back in; using a damp filter can damage the motor and cause unpleasant odors.
