Having visited John Lawson’s Circus in previous years (as you may remember from my first visit and my return trip), I already knew we were in for a treat. But somehow, this beloved family-run circus continues to surprise and delight us each time it rolls into town. This year’s show was no exception – if anything, it felt even more energetic, engaging and magical than before.
A Magical Return to John Lawson’s Circus
A Dazzling Line-Up of Talent
As always, John Lawson’s Circus brings together a delightful mix of classic circus entertainment with fresh new flair. The 2025 line-up was bursting with skill, colour and charisma. Some of this year’s standout acts included:

Ringmaster Ben Arundale – Hailing from the UK, Ben’s charismatic presence and engaging introductions set the tone for the evening, guiding the audience through the spectacle with flair.

Miss Iona – A UK-based aerialist whose performance on the aerial loops was both graceful and thrilling, captivating the audience with her elegance and strength.

Duo Dragoni – This knife-throwing duo from Czechia delivered a heart-pounding act that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
- Chinese Pole – Another act from Kyrgyzstan, demonstrating remarkable strength and bravery on the vertical pole.

Octavia – An aerial beauty from Chile whose performance high above the ring was both elegant and awe-inspiring.

Miss Emelia – From the UK, Miss Emelia enchanted the audience with her “Wicked” bubble act, creating a magical atmosphere under the big top (My favourite bit)

I don’t want to mention all of the acts, or post too many photos because I don’t want to spoil too much, but if they’re local to you then the circus is most definitely worth checking out.
A Family Favourite
What I love most about John Lawson’s Circus is that it’s genuinely fun for all ages. The atmosphere is always friendly, relaxed and inclusive – a proper community event where you see families, couples and groups of friends all enjoying the experience together. There’s no use of animals, which makes it feel modern and ethical, and the acts are cleverly chosen to keep both kids and grown-ups entertained throughout.
Plus, there’s something nostalgic and heartwarming about sitting under the big top with a bag of popcorn in hand, surrounded by excited little faces and the sound of oohs and aahs echoing through the tent.

The show is around 90 minutes with a short interval – perfect for keeping little ones engaged without being too long. Tickets are well-priced, and there are often discounts for booking in advance.
