Although I am a non-driver, I am currently learning (or will be when life goes back to normal) and have certainly been giving some thought to staying safe while driving. It’s such a scary thing to be in control of a whole vehicle, isn’t it? I know that none of us wants or plans to be in a road traffic accident, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be prepared, should the worst happen. At The SceneIf you are in a road traffic accident, the first priority should be ensuring that you and everyone around you are safe. Even if the accident is only minor, you must stop the car immediately when it is safe to do so Turn on your hazard lights and make sure that everyone in the vehicle is okay. Should you need to, call 999 for an ambulance immediately. You may also need the police and so should call 99 or 101 depending on the severity of the situation. As long as everyone is okay, you should make sure that you swap details with the other driver and get the contact details of anyone that witnessed the accident. If needed, you should take photos and then arrange for your car and you to make your way home safely.
The Rising Trend in Sustainable Clothing
Although fast-fashion won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, there is definitely a rise in the popularity of sustainable and ethical clothing. Of course, as you might imagine plus size ranges in this type of clothing are a little behind, but I think over the next few years we’re likely to see this trend change & hopefully, a choice of clothing will be available for all.
There are different ways that clothing can be sustainable and ethical – paying a fair wage or using recycled material for example. The working conditions of the people who create the clothes & the carbon footprint that it takes to get each item of clothing to your door are things to be considered.
Bamboo Clothing
I’ve recently been introduced to Bamigo, a company that makes all manner of clothing from bamboo – I know, it was a new one on me too! There are many reasons why bamboo is becoming an increasingly popular material to use, including the fact that it absorbs twice as much carbon dioxide than other trees! Bamboo itself grows much quicker than lots of trees, so re-planting
trees and helping to ensure the source remains sustainable doesn’t have to be a chore!

Shopping with Bamingo
Bamingo offers a range of bamboo clothing options including men’s underwear, socks, t-shirts, dressing gowns and pyjamas. Imagine being able to live a comfy life while knowing you’re going your bit for the environment? Perfect! They pride themselves on making comfortable clothes from bamboo clothing – a material that stays feeling much fresher than some manmade materials so a great choice for things like socks and underwear!
They currently offer up to an XXXL which is better than some more sustainable brands that I have seen, let’s hope it continues to be popular and they’re able to expand their size offering soon!
Do you know any sustainable brands? Who do you recommend?

6 Reasons to Buy Your Child a Bike
In the past, learning to ride a bike was a rite of passage for most children. Today, it is not always a straightforward issue for parents as the roads are generally much busier, which makes safety a concern. In addition, most children are more concerned about playing computer games and using social media than spending much time outside on a bike. However, there is a school of thought that all these concerns are reasons to get children biking as early as possible.
If you are thinking about buying a bike for your child but are not yet convinced it is the right decision, here are six reasons that might make your decision easier.
1. It is best to start cycling early
We have all heard the saying, “It’s as easy as riding a bike” and this is because when we start cycling as children, we develop muscle memory. The skills we learn in our childhood stay with us throughout our lives, and the earlier we start to learn, the more proficient and safer we will be as adult cyclists. There are bikes to suit just about every age and size of the child, and if you are looking for quality bikes for kids at affordable prices, you will find Marin bikes online from Cycle Solutions.
2. Learning to cycle builds confidence
It can take time for children to learn how to ride a bike, but when they do, the look of pride on their face is unbeatable. They have conquered their fears, brushed themselves off after numerous falls, and are now flying at high speed on two wheels. Learning that falling is not the end of the world can also be a great life lesson for nervous children.
3. They can learn about road safety
While smaller children should always be supervised, as they grow, they will begin to learn important rules about traffic and road safety, which will help them to stay safe. For example,
they will learn which direction traffic comes from, how to signal their intentions, and the importance of being aware of their surroundings at all times.
4. They will always remember family cycling trips
When families cycle together it is one of the most fun and exciting activities for children. They get to explore nature while zooming at top speed with the people they love the most in the world. Put simply, you will be creating memories for them that will last a lifetime.
5. Cycling is a great form of exercise
Cycling is an enjoyable form of exercise that can benefit a child’s physical and mental health in several ways. Cycling builds up strength in their entire body and improves their cardiovascular fitness. In addition to improving their confidence, cycling also triggers the release of endorphins which boost their mood and alleviate stress. Exercise can also help them to concentrate, take in more information from their studies, and improve their sleep.
6. Cycling is better for the planet
If more children grow up to be cycling adults, there will be fewer cars on the road, which is essential for the health of the planet. Encouraging your child to use a bike rather than a car will take us one step closer to a cleaner future for them and their children.
Investing in a Working From Home Set-Up
As lots of you know, I have been working from home for a year now & I love it. However, one of the major differences I noticed when I first started working from home, was how I set and what my work set up was like. Rather than having a property desk and a comfy chair, I perched where I could and didn’t have a proper setup. This meant I ended the day feeling all achy & I couldn’t be as productive as I was before. [Read more…]
