Why Do They Want Plus Size Shopping To Be More Difficult? #KeepThePlus

August 14, 2016 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

When you think about it, the internet is a pretty magical thing isn’t it? There’s so much that you can see and do online, it really is quite fantastic. Perhaps one of the best things about the World Wide Web are search engines… I know that this seems quite a claim but it really does make sense.

Whether you’re using Google or searching for something on social media; search engines are brilliant. With a few taps on a keyboard and the click of a mouse you can find pretty much anything you need. Gone are the days of guessing how much flour a cake needs or how to wire a plug socket, we literally have everything we need online – and we can find it so easily.

It really makes no sense to me why anyone would want to make these searches more difficult than they need to? Want to find a pair of blue sparkly shoes? GOOGLE! Need a new top to go with your pink leggings? GOOGLE! Names, labels and search engines mean that anything I want to buy can be found within a few minutes.

Dropping The Plus

Now we have people not using certain terms wanting to take them away. I can understand if you don’t use something you can’t understand how important it is – but why you would want to take away something so useful from people who need it, I really don’t understand.

If I want to buy a red dress there is zero point me Googling “red dress” because nearly all of these retailers won’t have been wise enough to stock my size. Yes I can browse through hundreds of red dresses in the hope of finding one, but why would I want my life to be more difficult than needed? Thanks to the term I can search for ‘plus size red dress’ and know I have a much higher chance of being successful. If you don’t need to use the search term that’s fine, but I don’t understand why you would want to take away that accessibility to people who need it?

There is nothing wrong with the term plus size and taking it away only makes it something to be ashamed of. I honestly can not see what we have to gain by taking away the term. Will people stop being fat because clothes aren’t labelled as plus size? Of course not. Will brands start stocking clothes in ALL SIZES because they know people can’t seek out plus size specifically? Absolutely not.

As a plus size person I want to be able to find the things I need online and I don’t see why people would ever want this taken away.

I’d love to know your thoughts on the Keep The Plus debate

You Big CowCow

August 12, 2016 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

If you follow any bloggers on social media then the chances are you have heard of the CowCow brand before. The dresses are stocked on Amazon UK and Amazon US, although the US site has lots more choice.

The dresses come in a whole of patterns, which then come in a range of colours too – so there is something for everyone. Price wise they range from £5 to £15; but be warned they could take up to a month to arrive!

The dresses previously went up to a size 3X but caught the eye of the plus size community because they are super stretchy and fit sizes much larger than the guide suggested. When I heard that they had extended to a size 5XL I had to buy a couple.

The cake pattern one came from Amazon US and the unicorn one from UK. I found the UK one ever so slightly smaller but not really that you would notice unless you were looking for it. Size wise I found it fit my body great, I could have sized down and it would have fitted but for a more form fitted style which wasn’t really what I was looking for.

With CowCow you are taking a little bit of a risk because people have found that certain styles have come up much smaller or shorter but many of the styles come to less than £10 delivered. They have some amazingly fun patterns, so for me it’s well worth the risk!

Have you bought one yet? If not, simply search CowCow on Amazon and see what you like!

Pineapple Princess Thanks To Lady V!

August 5, 2016 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I am a sucker for a dress with an unusual pattern so when I saw this pineapple print dress on Lady V London, I knew I had to have it!

I already have the Maria dress in mustard and violet rose which I wore to a wedding last month and really liked it! I love the cut of the Maria dress and the shape that it gives my body. It has a nice length skirt and the fact that it’s tight and fitted means I really like how it looks on me.

I love the fact that Lady V London are exploring more fun patterns and hope they continue to do so. I love a floral pattern as much as the next person, but something unique and quirky like this is always a welcome addition to my wardrobe!

One thing I love about Lady V is the fact that their items are high quality. You can really tell that they have given thought to the material that they use, because it means that a dress like this is worth the investment.

Lady V London have a sale on this weekend so head over and see if anything takes your fancy! #SorryNotSorry

A Prom Dress Fit For a Wannabe Princess

August 1, 2016 by Debz Louise 1 Comment

I am a fan of pretty dresses and this lovely lace topped dress from Simply Be is no exception. I have to be honest, I don’t even know where I’ll wear it to yet, but I know that it’ll be great when I do.

What I love about this nude floral skater dress is the two in one pattern. I am a big fan of dresses like this and have featured a few on my blog by ASOS and Scarlett & Jo before. I think the difference in two patterns really makes the dress something special and I really can’t wait to wear it!

I know that often when it comes to high-quality party dresses they can sometimes come with a hefty price tag attached to them, but at £50 this dress is pretty affordable. I found the size perfect – thought had even been given to the lace on the arms which I didn’t find tight at all!

I teamed it up with these comfortable Simply Be shoes, if I wore them to a party that demanded a bit of glam then I would wear sparkly shoes and an eye-catching handbag to match.

Now, who wants to invite me to a party so I have somewhere to wear it?

Topsy Curvy For The Perfect Summer Jacket

July 31, 2016 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I won’t lie to you, I am not the biggest fan of winterwear at all. In fact if you looked in my wardrobe you would notice a significant lack of anything remotely sensible to wear when the weather is colder – which is probably why I am not a fan of the winter months in general.

The British Plus Size Awards 2016

July 16, 2016 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Last week I found out that I was nominated for a British Plus Size Award again, and I am over the moon. You might remember that last year I was lucky enough to win Best Achievement at the awards – which was the most amazing feeling! This is the 3rd year running that I have been fortunate enough to be nominated for the Best Blogger award – YAY!

I have to say that attending the awards is always the most amazing night. It’s one night on my social calendar where I get dressed up super glamorous and enjoy a wonderful 3 course meal. I do have quite a busy social life but this is a fantastic night of being all dressed up, feeling super glam – it’s amazing!

Of course, when you combine that with hanging out some amazing blogger babes AND celebrating all aspects of the plus size industry it really does add up to an awesome night!

It goes without saying that I would love your vote for the awards but also if you can, I would love for you to attend. It’s an amazingly uplifting night and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

You can vote for me here and find out more about attending the London event in November here

I am really, REALLY excited to say that I am being sponsored by the lovely team over at Lady Voluptuous for the event. Last year I wore their BEAUTIFUL Lyra dress and I can’t wait to show you what I am wearing this year!

Hopefully see you there!

Rediscovering Navabi

June 30, 2016 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I have a few days off work and that always leads to more social media browsing and window shopping. Today I saw a few tweets mentioning plus size brand Navabi and thought I would head over to their website. I’ll be honest I thought I would just be browsing and lusting over items I was missing out on – because in my head I was sure they went up to a size 28!

When I started looking at items I realised that they did up to a size 32 and so I thought I would share it with you all! For me, discovering brands that do over a size 28 is fantastic and something I’d always share.

Navabi have a really good range of items. I have read loads of reviews from different bloggers and have heard nothing good about the quality of the items on the website – which is always a good thing. Some of the items have a more mature look about them than I would usually wear, but I still feel the importance of sharing retailers that do larger size items! Also, I have seen lot of these items styled amazingly which just goes to show you can make anything work for you!

Some of the dresses available in my size that I really liked are:

I have to give a special shout out to this BEAUTIFUL dress; which would be perfect for a glitzy, glam event! This type of dress is SO HARD to find in top end plus sizes so I love Navabi for doing this UP TO A SIZE 32!!

I love discovering new brands and realising I have more shopping options! If you have any hidden gem shopping recommendations please share them with me 😀I have updated Navabi on

my list of plus size retailers, because I didn’t realise they did up to a size 32 – if there’s any brands so I should add, give me a shout!
