Avoiding Holiday Mishaps

February 9, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

We all love a good holiday, whether its someplace hot where you will be spending most of your time drinking cocktails by the pool, somewhere you can get your winter sports fix and spend the evenings by a log fire in a cabin or a weekend shopping trip in New York, we all like a change of scenery and a break from everyday life.
When going on holiday there are so many things to consider, from where you want to go, things you want to see and do, what you’re going to take with you, where you are going to stay, how much money you’ll need etc but one of the last things people think about, if they think about it at all, is what if something goes wrong? and that is where jefferies-solicitors.com comes in. Among other things, they cover holiday sickness and accidents. Not something you want to think about when you are planning time away but these things happen a lot more than we realise.

I believe the key to avoiding holiday disasters the best you can, is thorough preparation. Some eventualities we obviously can not prepare for but being prepared for what we can give a lot of peace of mind. There are a few small things that can cause huge disasters when going abroad and these are the things we have control over and can plan ahead to avoid mishap.
Passport – know where your passport is at all times, check your passport is in date for travel to and from your destination, check any passport rules and regulations in your destination country prior to travel and check you have your passport at every stage of travel
Health – if you have any health conditions inform your GP you intend to travel, et travel insurance and make sure you have enough of your prescription medication for the entirety of your trip and of course be careful while away, nobody wants to spend their holiday in hospital in a foreign country.
Money- inform your bank that you will be travelling (this one comes from experience) I had my card stopped and the bank calling me because they thought my card was stolen. Change your money before you travel as you will save money over changing currency at the airport. Budget for your trip and add a little extra for emergencies, it is so so easy to run out of money when you’re having fun.
These are just my little tips from previous travel experience and even though they seem obvious and like very small things they can lead to much bigger problems once you’re away. By planning and preparing before you travel you lessen the risk of things going wrong, leaving you to enjoy your holiday exactly as you should.
Where was your last holiday? please tell me it was mishap-free!
