Hard Out Here – You know me – I love anything that is body image positive, especially those people who use arts, music, poems etc to get their message across.
Hard Out Here
I have to admit that I heard about Lily Allens song long before I actually listened to it. With people quoting it’s lyrics on Twitter and shouting about how great it was that Lily Allen had waxed lyrical about an issue that is so close to our hearts.
I read the lyrics and really loved what I read:
And then I read a tweet from Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus
I really love that Lily Allen has recorded a song about body image and her take on the music industry, I just hope it is for all the right reasons! I love positive body image and I wish more people in the public eye would speak up about it and tell people it is OK to have a body, whatever size that is, that doesn’t fit the media norm…I just hope that it’s a permanent change in her outlook and we won’t be reading negative stories from her in the future

i think lily allen made those comments a long time ago, when she was very young – we've all done it and we all do it – shes a mother now and i definitely think her attitude has changed alot i love her
I think I'd have liked the song a lot better if she hadn't done a Miley Cyrus and exploited black dancers for her own amusement. What is it with white pop singers using black dancers in an over-sexualised manner and the obsession with bloody twerking? Jesus.
I think Lily Allen does a good job of getting herself in the papers, but isn't a very nice person. Maybe motherhood has mellowed her. Guess time will tell.
I love you Debz. Proud of you for making people actually open their eyes!!
ps: how amazing does Michelle Mcmanus look in her twitter pic!
Thanks beaut! xx
Written or verbal your words are always straight to the point and real. I'm very proud and honoured to be able to call you a friend x
I am new to this country and her music but I heard so many things about her not being friendly. Hopefully she is sincere now. Ill give her a chance but wll be very vigilant =) your post is a nice reminder of how things really are
Thank you! She has been away for a few years, so hopefully this is a nicer, more grown up Lily and she'll keep up the good work of this song! xx
