Make a Room Come Alive – Sometimes, even when a home is filled with the essentials, it can sometimes still feel empty, or perhaps not as welcoming as we would like. Thankfully, there are plenty of different accessories that can be used to bring certain rooms alive. Of course, every room is different, so certain things will look better in certain rooms, but most accessories are universal.
Make a Room Come Alive
Use Wall Treatments
Plain walls are great to balance out a room. One wall with mirrors or frames needs a plain wall to balance it out, otherwise, a room may look cluttered. However, all plain walls can look bland and uninviting. Instead, wall treatments can be used to decorate a wall and bring it to life.
Some of the most popular ways to treat a wall include wallpaper, shiplap, or creating a board and batten wall. Right now, board and batten is perhaps one of the most popular ways to style a wall as it adds depth and texture to a room, making it far more inviting. It also works well with any interior colour palette and it looks incredibly luxurious.
Utilise Plants at Home
Plants are a great way to bring a room alive and add a pop of colour. There are so many different varieties, shapes, and colours, making them ideal for any kind of space. Large floor plants can add texture to a room as well as make a statement. Smaller plants are cute and great for styling smaller areas.
Plus, plants are great for boosting mood and even good for health too. Adding eucalyptus to your bathroom will not only look fantastic but when you have a shower, it can also create a beautiful aroma and clear your lungs.
Add Mirrors
Hanging a couple of mirrors will help fill up the emptiness of your home quite a bit. By hanging mirrors around your house, you will be able to fill practically any wall. Mirrors reflect light and when light bounces around your house, it can make rooms feel bigger and brighter, ideal for making a room come alive. You can get specialised mirrors for different rooms too, illuminated bathroom mirrors can be used in the bathroom that don’t steam up as their designed to handle the fog better than a normal mirror.
Choose Suitable Lighting
Lighting can drastically improve a room and change its whole appearance. Different lighting options are better for different rooms as they can create a different ambience. For living rooms and bedrooms, floor lights are ideal for brightening a space but also creating an ambience.
You could also get candles for your home. Candles are great as they’ll make your home smell amazing, but they’ll also create a dimmed light too. They can be used anywhere in the home making them a functional accessory. From a dining room table to the bathroom, candles are great accessories. Plus, they’re pretty affordable too, which is a great bonus.
Hang Some Fabulous Art
Hanging some good art can easily make a room come alive. Having pieces of art hanging on walls can introduce colour into a room but also tell a story. It can create a whole scene and make a room feel much more comfortable. For something incredibly artistic, brilliant abstract pieces could be hung. For something more subtle, neutral tones could be included. This could be scenic images or photos of architecture. Photos of plants can also look great!
Your home should be a place where you can feel comfortable and relax. This means you can actually add anything to your home. After all, it’s yours. It’s also important to remember that change should not be feared and if you have an idea in mind, go for it! What’s the worst that could happen? Accessories are easy to change out and walls are easy to paint so why not take a risk?
