meeting a new partner. When I was younger people were less open minded when it
came to internet dating and I can remember people making up elaborate stories
about how they met. These days people are much more likely to try online dating
and you definitely shouldn’t let your age put you off.
to date after a long term relationship, getting involved in online dating can
be scary. However, the way I see it, over 50 dating doesn’t
need to be any different to anyone else who wants to dat!
try, it is really important that you go in with an open mind. If you aren’t
open to trying new things then you will probably find dating far less fun that
it could be, and no one wants that!
just hoping to meet someone during a social activity you need to be in a
position where you are happy and open to the idea of meeting someone else.
there are hundreds of different websites out there for you. This is great,
because it means that whoever you are and whatever type of mate you would like
to meet, you’re going to find something that suits you and your needs. You can
look for long term dating, hook-ups, casual encounters and there are even
websites for mature women dating toyboys. It may be worth asking friends if they have any
dating experience and what their recommendations, or places to avoid would be!
That way, you’re already a step ahead of the game when it comes to choosing a
website to use.
impression so do spend some time setting up a profile you’re happy. When I am
dating I tend to have a profile that is a couple of paragraphs long. I always
mention that I am looking for something serious as opposed to a casual
encounter and always mention my size. I know that isn’t for everyone, but I
will only date someone that embraces my size so I feel it is something
important to mention! I choose a couple of selfies and a couple of full length
photos and use ones that are as recent as possible.
that is essential, but remember that you are looking to meet people so try to
use photos that look like you – I tend not to use ones with snapchat filters
on, for example.
gives me the courage to message people first. I know it can be scary to message
someone first, but if you have both “swiped right” then what is the harm? The worst
they can do is not reply – so you really have nothing to lose!
know goes against lots of dating advice, but to be honest I am lazy! The way I
see it, most of us will reply if we like the look of someone anyway. I just
send a friendly message asking how they are and how their day was, unless
something really stands out on their profile which then I do mention!
site you like, sign up, set up a profile and converse with people. Now you need
to get out there. I can imagine if you’re over 50 and have been out of the
dating game for a while then it can be scary but what is the harm? Choose a
nice bar near to you and arrange to go out for a couple of drinks. Set times
before you go, so you don’t feel pressured into staying longer. The worst case
scenario, you don’t click with them but you still get to have a few nice drinks
– best case scenario, you leave after arranging date 2!
