Big Fat Clothes Swap

February 25, 2014 by Debz Louise 3 Comments

On Sunday I headed down a clothes swap in Bethnal Green and I am so glad that I did. I have never been to anything like this before and right up until Saturday I was unsure about going… But I went and I loved it!

It was held in a cute room in Bethnal Green – packed full of fat babes, both bloggers and non-bloggers. Everyone bought bags of clothes and the items were separated out into sizes. Then people could take their pick of what they wanted. It was such a lovely atmosphere, with everyone recommending items for each other, giving styling advice and helping people try on items. It was really lovely to see everyone & see lots of new faces. I have come away with a bundle of new outfits which I now can’t wait to wear! How exciting.

I am still on my little self-made mission to dress a little differently and this time I went for it with my hair. I always, always wear my hair flat and it’s a bit boring to me. I couldn’t sleep the night before, so at 3am I washed my hair, plaited it and went to bed.

with it wet. I love the effect that this had, although it isn’t quite as wavy as I hoped. I love the volume it gave my hair & I actually quite like the geek-chic look I ended up with for the day!

I am proper going for the geek look at  the moment – I picked up these glasses for a massive investment of 99p delivered! I have them in purple and red too – how exciting! The t-shirt is one I picked up in a random shop in Belgium when I was there last year – I threw it on over a red New Look skater dress just because it is a little bit short.

Thanks to Kirsty and everyone for organising it. I would definitely recommend everyone go to the next one.

What did you get up to at the weekend?

Discovering Marisota

February 23, 2014 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I have to be honest here, while I have known for ages that Marisota do plus size fashion (up to a size 32) they’re not really a brand I think to check when I am looking for a new outfit. However, I love the fact that they exist, because choice is always good!

Last week they invited me down to an event in a beauty salon in Soho to be treated to a bit of a pamper and the chance to browse through some of their offerings this season… How could I resist?

I have been meaning to do something with my eyebrows for ages – I was an eyebrow treatment virgin. In the end I got them waxed and tinted as well as my eyelashes tinted – I love them!

I have to say – I was really impressed with the clothes that they had. When I saw the rail which was bursting with colour & shape I had to smile… It was so nice to see so many nice clothes, something I didn’t expect at all.

I’ll definitely be keeping a much closer eye on Marisota from now on.

Have you ever shopped there? What did you think?

OOTD : British Plus Size Fashion Weekend

February 22, 2014 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Just a very quick post today – a look at what I wore to British Plus Size Fashion Weekend. I am a little bit bored of normal dresses and leggings at the moment – just because that is all I seem to wear! So I am trying to break out and wear something a little different – BPSFW was my first time doing this!

Jumper – Matalan – this is about 3 years old and this is the first time I have worn it!
Skater dress – ASOS
Sweet leggings – Primark
Boots – Primark

Debz necklace – Black Heart Creatives
Heart necklace – Primark

There really isn’t much that I can say about these leggings, except that I love them!! They’re from Primark, a size 16 and a bargain price of £6.00! Yet another lesson that you can pick up bargain clothes just about wherever, as long as you ignore clothes sizes!

Do you have funky, unique clothes in your wardrobe?

British Plus Size Fashion Weekend

February 20, 2014 by Debz Louise 3 Comments

I’ll be honest and say I didn’t take a whole heap of photos at the weekend – I figured that blogs would be saturated with write-ups and reviews and that I wouldn’t be able to add very much to it at all. However – I did have a fab time – Thanks to British Plus Size Weekend for the competition that allowed me to win tickets – YAY!

When I got there I wandered around the market place which was fab. It was a little quiet but there were plenty of stalls to browse. It was so lovely to chat to shops that I speak to on Twitter etc in the flesh. Stalls at the market place included Syreeta Badu, Ms SVG, Slink, Live Unlimited, Simply Be, Taking Shape, Topsy Curvy, Evans, Tutti Rogue, Apples and Pears and loads more that I have probably forgotten – sorry! The stalls were set out with plenty of room so you could easily browse through what was on offer and see new collections from brands – YAY!

Me with Team Ms SVG and Team Topsy Curvy – all such lovely, lovely ladies!!

Who said plus size fashion has to be boring!?

After that I headed down to the 4pm fashion show – which was amazing! An hour and a half of seeing different brands showcase their goods – past, present and future. I didn’t get any good pics but if you look on Twitter under #BPSFW you’ll see loads I am sure!
Before the show I did manage to have a quick chat with Whitney from America’s Next Top Model – she was lovely!

I was unsure about attending British Plus Size Fashion Weekend, because of reports I had heard of the previous year – but I was glad I did. It was really lovely to catch up with lots of blogger babes, meet the brands and of course see the cat walk -I’ll definitely go back next year. This year was only the 2nd annual British Plus Size Fashion Weekend, so I’ll be excited to see the event grows!

Did you go, what did you think?

Where’s Wally? He’s At The One One Three Fashion Show

February 19, 2014 by Debz Louise 2 Comments

On Monday I was invited down to the One One Three Fashion show in Angel. Held at the Metal Works in Islington I was excited to see what the new collection would be like!

The venue is great for a fashion show, with a funky unique setting and plenty of space for people to be able to sit and watch the show – sadly the show was over in the blink of an eye but it was still nice to see the pieces.

I hope the video works – Its the girls come off of the catwalk at the end of the show. It’s just taken on my phone but hopefully it gives you an idea of what you can expect!

From what I have seen of the collection it’s going bolder than ever – big t shirt dresses, lots of tartan, a tutu and plenty of colour, which is a massive plus point in my opinion! I didn’t get any photos as the light was too bright – bad blogger I know. I will post as soon as I know when the collect will be out!

What I Wore

As another nod to dressing a bit differently I decided to mix it up and wear my Where’s Wally? t shirt. Before I would have dressed up in a dress and lots of jewellery, so it was nice to go a bit different for a change. The leggings are actually One One Three leggings though – which I can highly recommend!

Scarf – Taking Shape
T Shirt – Primark
Leggings – One One Three
Boots – Primark

Cardigan – Yours Clothing

Me and my friends <3

I Wish I Looked Like Cindy Crawford

February 18, 2014 by Debz Louise 1 Comment

Most of my friends know that I love to watch and read all sorts of body posititive infulences and so I am lucky that when they stumble across them, they share them with me. Tonight a friend sent me this link – I love it and had to share it with you straight away.

It isn’t about being fat or thin, but about advertising and how the images we see in the media are so different to real life. It really makes an interesting watch and if you have a spare 5 minutes, you should definitely give it a watch.

Did you watch? I’d love to know what you think

Afternoon Tea With Anna Scholz

February 18, 2014 by Debz Louise 1 Comment

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited down to Anna Scholz HQ to view the new Anna Scholz/Simply Be collection. I have always kept an eye on the Anna Scholz collection because I love how bold and bright the colour and patterns are. Sadly sometimes colour and pattern is something that is lacking in plus size fashion, so it’s nice when a brand gives this a go.

When I got there I saw that they had some of Annas own collection stuff out too, not just the stuff for Simply Be. As someone who finds Anna Scholz stuff priced firmly out of their price range it was exciting to be able to see and feel the outfits – I never realised it, but the difference in quality is amazing! She had items in EVERY size to try on, although I wasn’t quite brave enough, I really wish I had!

Just look at all those colours and prints – beautiful!

Some of the beautiful lingerie for Simply Be

So much colour – I was in heaven!

We were well looked after!

Me & Hollie from Pretty Big Butterflies and the lady herself Anna Scholz

I believe the Anna Scholz collection and the items for Simply Be are up now, if they’re not then keep an eye out because they’re worth having a nosey at. Thank you to the team at Anna Scholz for making us feel so welcome and to Simply Be for inviting me.
