A few weeks ago a lovely company called Jilsen contacted me about their boots. They offer a range of wide calf boots, to give another option to those with larger legs. I know that lots of women struggle to find boots that fit because of their large calves, so this sounded ideal to me!. 

The company kindly sent me a pair of boots to try for myself. I’ll talk about the good points first. They shipped quickly and I had the boots within just a couple of days. They come well packaged in a long, heavy duty box so they weren’t damaged while being sent. The colour and feel of the boots was magnificent and you can tell that the boots have been made with quality and comfort in mind.

The bad news was – they didn’t fit! Hence, a lack of photos of me wearing the boots because I couldn’t get them on. I choose the lovely Anna boots with a 52cm calf. This was the biggest calf size they did and I assumed they would fit, but they didn’t 🙁 I was really sad, because I loved the look of the boots and I’d loved to have been able to wear them! So make sure you check your measurements before you order – they offer boots in a variety of calf width fittings.

However, Jilsen do get my recommendationn simply because it is so fantastic to have another option when it comes to plus size footwear. The quality of the boots is fantastic and if they fitted me I know they would have been something remained in my wardrobe for a number of years. Boots like this are a real high-quality investment and Jilsen offer great options for this!

I have made no secret of my love for Lady V London and in particular the new Lady Voluptuous dresses they released in collaboration with Georgina of Fuller Figure, Fuller Bust fame.

When Georgina whispered in my ear(well at least that’s how I imagined it!) and asked me if I would like to try a dress from the range I knew immediately that I couldn’t possibly choose anything other than the Bellatrix. All that colour, all that figure-hugging material, the fishtail frill at the end – perfection!

I received my dress on Friday and immediately tried it on. Now, you know me – I am a sucker for a pretty dress and when it comes to pretty dresses I have an abundance. However, I can see this as being a dress I would keep and wear forever.

Yes, it’s not a dress I would wear to do the weekly food shop but I have hundreds (almost literally) of those. Instead, it’s a well made, high quality, occasion dress in my size – and we all know how rare those are in plus sizes.

The dress appears very long on me, but then I am very short. But to be honest with you, I quite like the almost ankle length on me so it’s a definite positive. You can tell that the dress has been given a lot of thought – the arms are roomy and have been designed in a way that they are not restrictive when you move around. I also really like the fact that it is lined inside. This gives a bit more support and means that the outer, thick material is not as clingy to my body as it could be. Now, I don’t mind a bit of cling but I know that many people don’t so I like the thought that has gone into the dress in smaller details like this.

The material itself is nice and thick, with a tiny bit of stretch and give to it. This makes it fit my body nicely and look flattering, as much as that is a word that I dislike. The colour and pattern are beautiful, but there are also plain colour styles in the Lady Voluptuous l collection if this is something that you would prefer!

When I checked last night, only 6 of the 16 dresses available were left in a 30/32 which shows that these dresses are being snapped up. This literally fills me with joy because it shows that if you give fat women the RIGHT fashion options they will snap them up – other plus-size retailers and their ‘stop at size 26 collections’ take note!

Never one to play by the rules when it comes to dresses I also had a little play around with the style. I can really some short style dresses feeling right at home within the Lady Voluptuous range!

 

I am told that there is more to come from the Lady Voluptuous collection and I for one can’t wait to see what it brings. What would you like to see?

Over the past few years there have been different retailers telling us that we don’t need a varied plus size range and that the type of clothing we’re all keen to wear, just doesn’t have a market!


So… I wanted to put together a post of lots of women wearing different items from the range. To show that all shapes and sizes want all sorts of fashion and that retailers are wrong when they tell us it is not needed. I put out some shout outs on social media and these lovely ladies sent their photos – don’t they look AMAZING!?

My name is Debz and I have an obsession with online window shopping… 


As part of my obsession I tend to browse different websites and see what they have on offer. I have browsed the H&M website a good few times, but never found anything to buy. I have to say that I H&M do have a good few plus size items and are perhaps over looked a little. I have heard that their sizes can be hit and miss and delivery can take a while (this took 10 days) but they are still worth a browse…. If only more of their high street stores had their plus collection in!


A few weeks ago I was doing one of my regular window shops of H&M when I came across this amazing tulle skirt. To many people this probably doesn’t seem like much of a revolution, but this type of skirt in my size just doesn’t come about every single day!

I ordered the skirt and sat at home with fingers crossed that it fitted. When it finally arrived I was so relieved that it fits LIKE A DREAM! Often with skirts and dresses like this the layer underneath which is made from a silk like material and therefore has no stretch. I am pleased to say that this H&M tulle skirt comes with a jersey layer underneath which fits lovely.

It is sold out in the 3XL now (the size I am wearing) but I am sure a 2XL would have fit too. The stretch is really generous.

Also wearing an #Amaze top from Evans and a lovely floral blaze from New Look.


It’s once again taught me to try new things and that as a plus size woman, I do still have fashion options. I agree that sometimes items can be harder to find but if you keep your eyes open, and window shop online at every opportunity you will find whatever it is you are looking for!

I have spoken before about my love of Boohoo and the items that they offer. I honestly  pray for the day when they extend their range up past a 24 – and I know so many people who feel the same!

You only have to look at their new arrivals page to see that they are offering some fantastic pieces. I love that they offer items that are different, on trend and at a price that is affordable. I’d love to be able to try out more pieces, so if they ever go past a size 24 you can guarantee more items to pop up on this page. That said their plus size collection runs from a size 16 to a size 24 so it isn’t all bad.
