Choosing Jewellery For A Special Occasion

September 29, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Although it is not often I go out-out these days, when I do – I am a big fan of accessories. I don’t tend to wear high heel shoes so I find that wearing bold jewellery helps me feel dressed up. I like to be comfortable, even when attending special occasions and I find jewellery much easier to wear than shoes that are going to leave my feet aching after a couple of hours.

Choosing Jewellery

The great thing about accessorising with jewellery is that there is something for everyone. Whatever your style, taste and budget you’ll be able to find something that suits exactly what you’re looking for. Necklaces, earrings, finger rings and even brooches can help to dress up an outfit, making you feel dressed for any special occasion.  Places like Carus Jewellery have loads of choices, so you’ll be able to find the perfect bit of sparkle for any occasion.

Something Different

If you’re looking for something a little different, or perhaps a stunning piece of jewellery to give to someone as a gift then vintage or antique jewellery can be a perfect choice.

There are some really exquisite jewellery pieces from the past, especially 1940s and even later – when they really appreciated stunning jewellery and wanted stand out pieces. For example, this 1940s gold oval picture locket which is bound to be full of memories. You can replace with your own photo if you wish, but what a lovely piece of history to wear to any occasion.

What To Wear

The choice of what to wear is very much a personal decision, as well as dependent on the occasion you’re attending and how dressed up you wish to be. I find that if I want to feel really dressed up, I tend to wear a necklace that is bold and sparkly – just a personal preference for myself.

I like the fact that something like this will stand out, and people are likely to ask me where it is from and where I got it. I tend to go for bold choices like this with outfits – lots of colour is definitely a personal preference for me. That said, if you’re looking for something a bit more understated then you will find plenty of jewellery choices that match this also.
Investing in Jewellery
If you’re buying 1930s accessories or antique pieces then this is often something that you’ll want to see as an investment. These are pieces of costume jewellery that you can wear once and then never think about again. Of course, there are different places on the high street that you can find fun, cost-effective pieces of jewellery for your standard night out. These pieces are definitely for those extra special occasions, or perhaps as a gift for someone you love.

Antique emerald jewellery is also a great choice for something special, it screams glamour. There is really something special about the beautiful green stone and it makes it the perfect choice for special occasion jewellery.
Whatever you wear, if you’re attending a special occasion then be safe, have fun and don’t worry about too much else! You are deserving of a nice time too – so go out and enjoy it  – I’d love to hear all about it!

Accessorising to Upgrade Your Look

April 1, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Nowadays, so many of us are wearing the same outfits as countless other people. This isn’t even necessarily due to actively following trends. We’re living in an age where fashion companies are focussing on fast fashion – lower quality products at a low price that are designed to be worn once for your Instagram photos and then disposed of, resold or simply not looked at again.
They’ll churn out thousands of copies of the same item and ship them out to people around the country, meaning that no matter where you go, chances are that there’s going to be someone else wearing the exact same outfit as you.
Now, you don’t necessarily have to completely step away from cheap and affordable options that are associated with fast fashion (though you may want to consider at least rewearing the items that you do buy for the sake of sustainability and the environment).
Instead, you can pair whatever items of clothing you’re interested in with accessories. Accessories are simple additions to any outfit that can help you to stand out from the crowd. They allow you to put your own individual stamp on whatever outfit you decide to go for – sprucing up your look and helping you to curate your own unique look.
Here are just a few different things you can do to get started with this!
Jewellery
One of the simplest ways to accessorise is with jewellery. Pieces of jewellery can be incorporated into multiple looks, meaning you can get a whole lot of wear out of one piece of jewellery – especially if the piece is relatively subtle and can be matched into multiple looks. Start building up a collection of simple and multifaceted pieces that will work well no matter what you’re wearing.
There are so many options out there. Plain gold, silver, platinum, rose gold…
Generally speaking, it’s best to invest in precious metals where possible, as these will be good quality, will stand the test of time, and won’t react with any skin that they come into contact with, leaving green marks or irritation. You could also start working in stones, ranging from artificial to semi-precious or even precious. If you feel like brightening things up a little and being bold, there are also really stand out, statement pieces.
Bright colours, bold prints… there’s bound to be something that ticks all of your boxes.
So, start browsing all sorts of jewellery. Bracelets, bangles, necklaces, earrings, rings.
Your collection can slowly grow!
Glasses
Glasses aren’t always a mere accessory. Many of us need glasses to correct our vision and allow us to see clearly. Of course, you can get glasses with plain glass if you simply want some to accessorise. But if you need to wear glasses, why not find a pair that you absolutely adore to transform them into more than just a tool – they can become an accessory too!
Sure, contact lenses could be a convenient alternative. But glasses can really make a statement!  There are so many different frames out there that it’s a good idea to browse your options and try on different styles to see what suits your face shape and personality.  Whether that’s cat eye glasses, large and round frames, wire-framed glasses, thick and square glasses, or anything else!
Piercings
Piercings used to have somewhat of a taboo surrounding them. Sure, there are common  piercings, such as simple earlobe piercings (and these can be decorated beautifully with a wide variety of earrings), but there are also alternative piercings too. These are becoming increasingly accepted as they’re becoming increasingly popular.  They can have different colours, metals and shapes of jewellery.  So, browse your options and see what could suit you! If you do decide to go ahead and get a piercing, make sure to use a reputable piercing artist. They should have a clean studio and
all of the correct training. They should also guide you through aftercare to ensure that you look after your new piercing well and allow it to heal properly. Whether you go for nose piercings,
lip piercings, or more obscure areas, this is a change that could really change up your look!
These are just a few different types of accessories that you might want to try out in order to switch up or spruce up your overall look! They’ll help you to stand out from the crowd!
