One of the nicest things about moving into your own space,
is the ability to get creative and do what you want with it. Of course, if you
live in rental accommodation you’ll need to check with your landlord, but they’re
mostly okay with improvements, as they benefit from it too.

As some of you will know, I have spent my time living in
Birmingham, in a house share. This has been great and served me well for 15
months, but I am definitely starting to think about getting my own space. For
starters, my clothes take up half my room so something definitely needs to be
done about that!

Getting Creative
One of the things I am most looking forward to when I get my
own space, is being able to accessorise it how I like. I get real envy when I
see Instagram and Pinterest photos of really nice rooms, desk spaces and make
up storage and think – I WANT TO DO THAT! I have a whole host of ideas of what
I would like, and I really can’t wait to put them into practice!

Going The Whole Hog
Of course, if I ever bought my own house I would love to go
the whole way and get everything done perfectly. One of the things I really,
really like is the look of parquet flooring. I think it makes a room look
really light and airy, which is something I would love to create. I know it’s
pretty easy to maintain and that is something of a plus point for me too. As
one does, I have been window shopping online and all the things I could buy, if
I had my own home and I know that this flooring comes in a range of styles, so
whatever I decide I like at the time, I know there will be something that suits
my needs perfectly.

Not Rushing Things
One of the things I have promised myself when it comes to
decorating and perfecting my own place is not to rush things. At the moment I
have a million and one things I would like to do and ways I would like to
decorate. I need to remind myself that I can’t do them all and pick out what I
want. I know when the time comes this
won’t be an easy process, but I am determined to take my time and get things
right.

This won’t be happening for a few months yet, but there’s
nothing wrong with collecting Pinterest inspiration in the meantime is there?

How would you decorate your own space, if you could have anything
you wanted?
