Should I Hire an Electrician Near Me?

April 12, 2022 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

To hire an electrician or to do it myself, that is the question. When it comes to completing small home improvement or home renovation tasks, I’m a big fan of doing them myself. It feels good to feel some sort of accomplishment or achievement for doing small home tasks – from putting up new shelves to changing door hinges. Plus, as I’m sure you know I love a good bargain, so if I can save on hiring a handyman I will. However, I think I draw the line at electrician services and think maybe I should hire an electrician.

Should I Hire an Electrician?

I’ve been pondering for quite some time as to whether I should hire a local electrician or if I should try and change the light switches myself. It’s probably best to be safe than sorry. For some expert advice, I reached out to an electrician near me, the Handy Squad. I wanted to know if it was safe to do small electrics jobs by myself, so who better to ask than the professionals?

Hire an Electrician

Besides being professionals, the Handy Squad are trusted traders with excellent Trustpilot reviews. They have been helping businesses and homeowners for over twenty years with a variety of services, from painting and decorating to plumbing and electrician services. So, the Squad not only has expertise but also has years of experience.

Is it safe to do small electrics tasks by myself?

Some small electrics tasks, such as changing lightbulbs, can easily be done by anyone. However, “when it comes to dealing with live wires and electrical systems, it’s strongly recommended that you leave it to the experts” comment the Handy Squad. It is essential to keep you and your family safe from possible electrical hazards.

A registered electrician for notifiable work.

Electrical Safety First recommends checking if the electrical work you want to carry out is notifiable before carrying it out. If it is, you will have to use a registered electrician instead of doing the work yourself. As Electrical Safety First explains, “all electrical work in dwellings in England and Wales whether carried out professionally or as DIY, and whether or not the work is notifiable to a building control body, must meet the requirements of Part P of the Building Regulations.”

Future-proof your property.

Simple Parenting believes that hiring a professional electrician might be “the best solution for the long-term.” Whether you want to sell your home in the future or want to live in your home for many years to come without many electrical issues, hiring an electrician to ensure electrical work is done properly will be the best choice.

What do you think? Should you hire a professional or do electrical work yourself?
