There are definite pros and cons to being an adult; but I bet if you think back to being a kid there are loads of things that you miss – school holidays for a start! I thought I would look at 3 things I miss from being a kid, but I would love to know yours too!
Playing Games Just For Fun
As a kid with both a brother and a sister, I grew up in a household where there was always someone to play with. I remember boxes of board games and even just a box of dress-up clothes that we could use to create our own games – when do we lose that sense of imagination? I was quite lucky that my parents have always been into technology & therefore I had a computer from quite a young age – and I remember so many cool games that I could play, although they’re probably super basic by today’s standards! I recently discovered this website that has loads of board games on it – and some of them take me right back to those carefree days of being a kid! Checkers is a great one; because it’s so easy for anyone to play – and the version on their website runs really smoothly – I also love their version of Chutes and Ladders too!

Does anyone remember having an Etch-a-Sketch? I’ve noticed that they have an online version on their website and it looks really fun, I’ll be giving that a go next time!

Penny Sweets
Does anyone remember going to the shop to buy some sweets and putting their penny sweets in one of those brown boxes to be counted up? We used to get 50p a week and would walk to the newsagent to pick the sweets that we would be having for that week – chocolate mice, fizzy dummies galore! I know that we do still have pic n mix but it just doesn’t feel the same as the good old days when they would come in a paper bag for you to take home and enjoy!
Having Less Cares in the World
I’ve just spent a few days with my niece and hearing her wake up in the morning singing & ready for the days’ adventure – and I love that. There were no worries about bills or going to work or even worrying about what the day would bring; instead, she was always ready for having fun and whatever adventure that day would bring!
I’d love to know the things you miss from being a kid
