Loving Your ‘After’ Photo…

I know I have blogged already today, but I have to share this with you!


Every so often one of my friends sends me a link to something they think I would be interested in. All of my friends know that I strive for body positivity and spreading the word of self love and they send me links and articles that they know I’ll find interesting, or enraging!

I watched the video with a mix of emotions because I know that it is something many people can relate to.  The loving your body after going through some big changes, the pressure to change your body if you don’t meet media standards and the surprise of people when you tell them that you love yourself despite your ‘flaws.


The page linked above is a Kickstart project to fund a film on a ‘Love Your Body’ project. I am simply spreading the word because I think all of the positivity in the short video on the page and the letter below is amazing, not to try and raise funds although that would of course be amazing.

“Women and girls are constantly held back and lead to believe they’re not as good as they should be. Why? Because every day we feel we’re being judged on our appearance and how far away it is from an unachievable ideal.”




Taryn Brumfitt had the idea for the documentary after posting this photo of herself online. She posted it and was surprised when it went viral (3.6 million hits very quickly after it posted), simply because she was proclaiming to love her body in the AFTER photo of this picture… People claimed she was brave but many also claimed that it wasn’t possible. How could someone who was a body-builder with the perfect body actually love themselves after they have put on a little weight? Impossible, surely!?


She is making a documentary around her “The Body Image Movement” which is teaching women to love their bodies. She wants to make a life-changing documentary on body image, create change on how people feel about their bodies and the way people re-act to someone else’s body.

This Daisy Is Yours

I am a big fan of dresses by Yours Clothing and really wish my wardrobe could be packed full of them all! When I saw this dress on the website I knew I wanted it. Although it’s listed as a tunic it’s a great length and perfect for if you want to get your pins out this summer. The jersey material is really nice and ‘casual‘ feeling which is great for summer.







However, one of the nicest things about this dress is that it is available up to a size 36 which is something that really excites me. I love that Yours Clothing now offer clothing above a size 32 and when it is fashion items like this then it is even better. It’s also a really generous size so you could easily size down if you wanted to. It has a tie at the waist so you can tie it nice and tight and bring it in if you want to give it a more fitted shape. 




As you can see it has a keyhole effect cut out at the front which I think is really fun and cheeky for summer. It’s also in the sale for just under £20.00 at the moment.

A Look At Just Curvy

As you know, I love discovering new places I can shop – it;s so exciting! I have browsed the Just Curvy website before but as they ‘only’ go up to a size 26 I didn’t really consider shopping there! A few weeks ago the team at Just Curvy offered to send me a dress from their site, so I thought I would give it a try, after all we all know the importance of ignoring dress size labels!

I was amazed at the range of dresses they have, they have some really lovely items! If you’re under a size 26 I would recommend them! As someone above that size I had to be careful what I bought – you have to pay attention to material etc to see what you can work with. In the end I choose this lovely blue dress and it’s fab!

Turquoise Scoop Neck Floral Lace Pattern Swing Dress

It is a swing dress, although I do lose the swing effect as it is a little small and fitted on me. That said, I love the fit and I don’t mind losing out on the swing affect at all! It’s a really lovely vibrant colour and it fits fine.

They have this dress is a range of colours and even slightly different styles so if you’re after a lace, swing dress then make sure you check them out.

Summer Saviours From Big Bloomers

Just a very quick post today to tell you about some amazing anti chafing pants I have discovered. I am lucky that I don’t really get ‘chaffing’ on my thighs but I know it’s something many people do suffer with. A few weeks ago the lovely ladies at The Big Bloomers Company offered to send me a pair of their anti chafing knickers to try, so I thought I’d give them a go – I love them!






If I am wearing a dress without leggings in the summer I miss the support feeling leggings usually give me and I don’t want to wear stiff shapewear every day. I found these to be the perfect compromise. I know that isn’t what they’re designed or marketed for, but they were perfect for that for me. 






They’re really comfy to wear and didn’t make me feel too warm at all! They come in two lengths (I choose the short ones) and both beige and black. I wore the beige under this Pink Clove dress but I have worn the black before too and they are just as comfy!
