How To Meet New People

April 1, 2021 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

How To Meet New People – Can you believe it’s April the 1st already? I’ve lived in Hampshire a while now and although most of that in a pandemic, I really should start getting out and meeting new people. Relocating to a new area was fun and exciting, but I work from home living here so meeting new people has been tricky. Where you might meet lots of people within a new job normally I haven’t had the same opportunity so have to get inventive. I have been considering how to meet new people so thought I would share some tips with you, if I have missed any you think I should have shared, please do so in the comments!

How To Meet New People

Join Some Local Groups

One of the great things about social media is that there are plenty of groups that you can join. Some of these are random, lots of them are about shared interests and some of them will be local community groups. When I first moved here I joined a lot of local groups which really helped me get to grips with what was happening in the local area and even what shops there were. You can then join local friendship groups – my area even has a local walking group, so plenty of chances to get out and about with new faces.

Do You Want To Date?

If your idea of meeting new people includes meeting a partner in a romantic way then a dating website is a great way to go. If you’re interested in meeting someone local then a search for something like Belfast dating site will probably get you along the right lines. You can then choose to set up a Belfast dating profile and get to meet some new romantic partners – there are likely to be dating websites suitable no matter what area you’re in.

How To Meet New People

Volunteering

Just before the pandemic hit, I started to volunteer in a local charity shop. Of course, the last 12 months have been tricky so I wasn’t able to do this as much as I would have liked, but I really need to push myself back out there and do it again. For me, it was great because it got me out of the house and also meeting new people, so killed two birds with one stone.

Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Sometimes meeting new people involves you taking the plunge and getting out there to meet new people. It is really easy to sit at home and watch TV in the comfort of your own space, believe me, I have done it. However, the truth is that no new friends are going to knock on your door and invite themselves in – you have to go out there and find them! Take baby steps and don’t feel you have to rush things, but know that you will soon benefit from new friends which is a really lovely thing!

If you have any tips for meeting new people, whether for dating or friendship, I’ would love for you to share them below.
