What to Take When Looking at Designer Wedding Dresses

Most articles aimed at brides looking for designer wedding dresses will offer various tips but few will offer advice on what is best to take to a fitting or boutique appointment.

While there’s lots of help and advice on offer when it comes to researching potential wedding dress designers and boutiques and what the bride and her party should do when attending a fitting, they also need to appreciate what they need to take along too.

Essentially, it’s important that a bride looking at designer wedding dresses is not trying them on in isolation which is to say they will need to have an idea of the shoes, underwear and any other special considerations.

There is little point if the bride is wanting to wear a special necklace or a veil that’s been handed down the generations, that she neglects to take these to a fitting so she can get an idea of how the gown will look.

This also extends to wearing strapless bras or bustiers and also having the shoes she will wear on the day. Some brides may go to the extent of having their hair done in a similar fashion that they are having on their wedding day.

It’s also important to listen to other people’s advice when trying on designer wedding dresses but to avoid having too many people, whether they are good friends or family, because too many opinions will cause confusion. It’s also important to appreciate that not all wedding dress sizes are alike so the bride should focus on the right fit rather than of the dress
size itself.

Also, the bride should also appreciate that they will need to pay a deposit to secure the dress and will need to arrange a timescale for any further fittings and alterations to meet the bride’s
own deadlines.

And since a bride has to listen to so many people offering  words of advice means the entire experience of looking for the latest wedding dresses will become a frustrating experience.

Essentially, the bride needs to appreciate where the wedding is going to be held and choose a suitable gown and then take along one or two people that the bride will trust to offer an honest
opinion on the wedding dress for what will be one of the most important days of her life.

The good news is that the options for plus size brides are improving massively. We still have a long way to go but with a little research online you should be able to find something that suits you. The important thing is that you love what you wear, however traditional or otherwise that dress is!
