Things To Take To a Football Match – Whether you’ve attended plenty of football matches before, or this is your first one – you’ll want to make sure that you take everything that you need to have a good time. I thought I would put together a list of things to take to a football match – I hope it helps!
Things To Take To a Football Match
Comfortable Clothes
There is no doubt about it – you want to be comfortable. Comfortable shoes are most definitely a must-have, but the rest of your outfit should be pretty comfortable to wear too! This means no jeans that dig in or socks with holes. There are no real rules for what to wear to a match, although you might want to avoid an outfit that is made up of mostly the opposing teams colours. You can opt for team-themed gear if you want, maybe check with your friends what fans attending the match usually wear.
When it comes to clothing, you’ll want to bear in mind what the weather is doing too and make sure that you dress accordingly.
One thing that can make matchday even more memorable is immersing yourself in the incredible supporter culture that surrounds the game. From eye-catching tifos and coordinated chants to colourful banners and flares (where permitted), football ultras are known for creating some of the most electric atmospheres in stadiums across Europe
ID / Tickets
The last thing you want to do is turn up to a match and realise that you can’t get in. Before you leave the house make sure that you have any tickets that you need with you. It’s often a good idea to make sure that you have some photo ID with you too, just in case you need to prove your identity before you are allowed to pick up your tickets.
Portable Phone Charger
A day at the football can be long, especially if you intend to celebrate or commiserate with other fans after the football results are announced. Ensuring that your phone is fully charged before you leave the house is always a good idea. If you’re anything like me and use your phone a lot or have a phone whose battery dies all the time then taking a portable charger with you is also a wise idea!
Snacks
Of course, you don’t want to go the whole day without food and food/drink at sporting venues can often be costly. It’s a good idea to take some snacks and a drink with you, it can feel like a pain to carry these out of the house with you – but when you get to avoid the queues for food stalls and save yourself money in the process you’ll be glad that you did it!
Beauty Products
You probably don’t want to take a whole makeup bag with you – but some makeup wipes, an eyeliner pencil and some foundation is probably a wise move. I tend to take a hairbrush and some body spray with me too. It just gives me the opportunity to freshen up at halftime, and perhaps again before you go onto whatever venue you’re visiting when the match is over; that is always a nice feeling!
The first football match I ever attended was Morecambe Vs Barnet, and from a plus-size point of view, everything was pretty accessible. I would always suggest checking with a venue before you go but most importantly, remember you’re there to have a good time so enjoy it!
