The Importance of Making Lasting Memories

September 16, 2021 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Making Lasting Memories – If the last year and a half has taught me anything, it is that nothing is promised. I still remember sitting on the sofa and hearing the announcement that the UK would be going into lockdown and that our movements would be restricted – what an emotional night that was! Of course, the next 18 months weren’t easy for any of us and we all had to get through it in the best way we could; and for me, some of that was having lovely memories to look back on; which helped give me something to look forward to.

Dad Joke

Let’s be honest here; who doesn’t love a dad joke? My dads ‘best’ one is probably “Call me an ambulance”… “you’re an ambulance”…. you have to laugh don’t you? That’s why when I was sent some information on a brand new A Dad Joke A Day book, I had to check it out!

6 Reasons to Buy Your Child a Bike

March 9, 2021 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

In the past, learning to ride a bike was a rite of passage for most children. Today, it is not always a straightforward issue for parents as the roads are generally much busier, which makes safety a concern. In addition, most children are more concerned about playing computer games and using social media than spending much time outside on a bike. However, there is a school of thought that all these concerns are reasons to get children biking as early as possible.

If you are thinking about buying a bike for your child but are not yet convinced it is the right decision, here are six reasons that might make your decision easier.

1.    It is best to start cycling early

We have all heard the saying, “It’s as easy as riding a bike” and this is because when we start cycling as children, we develop muscle memory. The skills we learn in our childhood stay with us throughout our lives, and the earlier we start to learn, the more proficient and safer we will be as adult cyclists. There are bikes to suit just about every age and size of the child, and if you are looking for quality bikes for kids at affordable prices, you will find Marin bikes online from Cycle Solutions.

2.    Learning to cycle builds confidence

It can take time for children to learn how to ride a bike, but when they do, the look of pride on their face is unbeatable. They have conquered their fears, brushed themselves off after numerous falls, and are now flying at high speed on two wheels. Learning that falling is not the end of the world can also be a great life lesson for nervous children.

3.    They can learn about road safety

While smaller children should always be supervised, as they grow, they will begin to learn important rules about traffic and road safety, which will help them to stay safe. For example,
they will learn which direction traffic comes from, how to signal their intentions, and the importance of being aware of their surroundings at all times.

4.    They will always remember family cycling trips

When families cycle together it is one of the most fun and exciting activities for children. They get to explore nature while zooming at top speed with the people they love the most in the world. Put simply, you will be creating memories for them that will last a lifetime.

5.    Cycling is a great form of exercise

Cycling is an enjoyable form of exercise that can benefit a child’s physical and mental health in several ways. Cycling builds up strength in their entire body and improves their cardiovascular fitness. In addition to improving their confidence, cycling also triggers the release of endorphins which boost their mood and alleviate stress. Exercise can also help them to concentrate, take in more information from their studies, and improve their sleep.

6.    Cycling is better for the planet

If more children grow up to be cycling adults, there will be fewer cars on the road, which is essential for the health of the planet. Encouraging your child to use a bike rather than a car will take us one step closer to a cleaner future for them and their children.

Gothic Summer Vibes

June 12, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

It’s getting to that time of year where I am reminded that I love a good old maxi dress. I mean don’t get me wrong, leggings and a dress are fantastic and I will always be a fan but there is something about a flowy maxi dress that makes me feel great. When it comes to summer, I love being able to throw on a dress with a pair of flip flops and just leave the house.

The lovely people at Simply Be sent me this dress earlier this week and I really love it! I wore it out to lunch the other day and sat in the sunshine and it was perfect. It’s elasticated under the bust which means that it fits really nice – the skirt is flowy as well which is really nice. It is super long on me however I am only 5’2, so it could work well on someone taller too!

I love the lace affect around the shoulders and think this makes it so much nicer than just a plain black maxi dress. I don’t actually own many plain clothes as I am much more a fan of colour but I like this, because the lace adds a little dimension to it.

Simply Be were kind enough to send this so I could try it for size, as I have had nightmares with their sizing coming up small. I have to say that this could not have fit better and I really hope it reflects in the rest of the seasons items!

What do you think you’ll be wearing this summer?

George at Asda – Perfect For Party Success!

June 18, 2014 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I will be honest, I never had much interest or love of children, well babies anyway until I lived with one! I am not maternal at all, but I spent 2 months living in London with baby Darcy (www.bumpandbeyondblog.co.uk) and I loved it! Now I find myself glancing at baby clothes and sending her mum links to pretty dresses I have seen online! I have, of course also made it my job to teach Darcy the art of the selfie.
