When you live in a rented home it can be hard to know how you can put your own stamp on things, especially if your landlord is tricky about being able to redecorate in the colour of your choice. However, here’s how to make your rented home your own without the need to redecorate or upsetting your landlord.
Go All Out With Your Furniture
There are so many different types of furniture out there, which means that whatever your personal style is you’ll be able to find something that suits you. As furniture is something you’ll take with you when you move out there is nothing to stop you from getting exactly what you want – even if that is bright pink sofas or chairs in the shape of stilettos. Cushions and throws over old furniture if you can’t afford to buy new can also help to bring everything together perfectly.
Get Some Wall Art
Just because you’re not allowed to redecorate doesn’t mean that you can’t style the walls with your own personal touch. I was recently given the chance to try some things from my-picture.co.uk/ and when they arrived I realised they would be perfect for a rented house. They do a range of things – I went for a giant canvas of Lola, Tabitha and Goldie which I love, although it does need screwing to the wall. I got some really cool magnetic tiles for my sister and these stick to the wall and then peel off when you’re finished with them, so perfect for when you can’t or don’t want to screw things into the wall.

I noticed that they also had some real-life poster prints too – which come in a range of sizes. I personally love having photos on display around my house and things like personalised poster prints and canvas pictures are perfect for this.

The Finishing Touches
1here are some great ways to add the perfect finishing touches to your house – trinkets, rugs and even a shelf displaying your favourite books can all work. The thing to remember is whether it’s a rented house or you have bought it, it’s your home and should feel as such. So, look for cushions, curtains, rugs and even dinner plates that you love and you’ll soon feel as though your home is yours and you won’t have had to redecorate.
Have you been considering how to make your rented home your own? I’d love to hear your tips!
